It seams like the Atomos prores have a bit more contrast, do you finde that the recordings hvad less dynamic range in post or just a display thing ? and how do you finde the preamps in the atomos for audio? i am thinking of getting a ninja flame/inferno - mostly for the exposiour tools and quicker editing, but i was wondering if i would get better scrach sound aswell ?

Greetings. Yes, the ProRes files have better contrast, XAVC-S are kind of soft looking. ProRes HQ is 8bit 4:2:2 and XAVC-S is 8bit 4:2:0, so I've heard. I had the same doubt about the dynamic range, the image looks darker, but it's all okay, colors are slightly better looking in ProRes. I wanted to add the graded clips, but I thought the video would be too extended, might upload another test later focusing on graded clips vs non-graded ones. I had a test with a GH5 set to its top dynamic range HDR parameter, the image looked darker compared to normal V-Log, but it proved best in post. The preamps on the Atomos are kind of good, I thought I had to connect the included Breakout XLR cable to get sound while externally recording, but I found out it was picking sound signal from the camera's mic I assume. Still, the best way to get proper audio is thought the Breakout XLR cable indeed. Heads up, you need to pay attention to your sound and image synchronization, audio technicians will notice this better, while externally recording there's a slight frame out of sync. Atomos has an in monitor sync tool by frames to avoid audio delay, with the a7S II it's between 3 or 4 frames, or so.
Depending on your budget, I'd suggest the Ninja Inferno over the Ninja Flame. Ninja Inferno is a newer model with HDR 4K - 60p, perfect to work with DSLR's, Mirrorless and Cinema Cameras through HDMI inputs.
