- The Israeli air force sent a detachment of IAF F-15 BAZ fighter jets, to take part in the annual Cobra Warrior exercise at RAF Waddington UK, many aviation fans from all over europe came to waddo to see these rare aircraft in action. It was good to see the Israeli pilots up close.

Israel is the first nation which battle tested the F-15, F-16 and F-35 in real time combat
In 1976 l saw one of these leave after Farnborough Airshow and as soon as it was airborne it flipped upside down and came back inverted very low. Spectacular.

Eagle 818 has one and a half kills marked on its left side.
The shared kill was in 8.6.1982 over beiruth, Lebanon. The pilot shot down a syrian Mig 23 with a sparrow missile together with Eagle 832. I could'nt find details on the other one kill.
This is 106 sqd, called Tip of the spear sqd.

0:32 rather interesting to see this particular F-15 has one kill and one shared kill on Syrian jets! My guess would be these were scored in the 1982 conflict in Lebanon as Israeli F-15s and F-4s clashed with Syrian MiG 23s and shot down a large number of them.
the name of this particular jet is "octopus" in Hebrew
In '82 the combined 2 Sq.s' of F-15 shot down a total of 40 Migs over Lebanon & Syria. Mig23 & Mig25.
More than 37 years of age,the jet still runs strong!

Do you know that the Israeli pilots are the best in the world. Better than even the US or Russians. During the 1967 Arab-Israeli war, there were Soviet pilots to support the Egyptian air force. When they engaged with the Israeli fighter jets, they were all downed.
They're great pilots but the best pilots in the world are US Navy pilots.

Those IAF Eagles inspire both fear and respect. Those kill markings under the canopy rail are a badge of courage hardly, if at all, found in today's Air Forces.

Good to see you out and about for the September activity. Were they not letting you stand under the approach? Hope you managed to get some Holbeach action as well
They had new rules this time, nobody was allowed to stand under the approach, we had to stay by the traffic lights each end, step ladders had to be small like three step, not big ones, they did chop the hedge low which was good, big ladders were OK on the other side of the road, but when the lights turn red, you get a big lorry stopping in front of you sometimes. There was more people there than at the airshow, quite a surprise!
The Wave was full up by 8am they were selling bacon butty's by the truck load to all the hungry spotters.

What is the empty weight of the conformal fuel tanks of the F-15 family? Does it go heavier per variant? (C,D, and E strike variant)
Not sure but the BAZ is 14,000 kgs empty and more than double on max load.

@@IloveF-CXandF-CFalconViper Yea i dont know too much about that, I know the Israelis added larger external drop tanks on the f16s so id imagine they have the same for the f15s, 63% bigger than the american drop tanks at the time, and had to modify the landing gear because of the weight. Your best bet is manufacturer specs. Every country adds and removes what they need. I would imagine the USAF does the same thing depending on the role of the wing and their location.

@@IloveF-CXandF-CFalconViper They will not even try to dogfight with the tanks, drop tanks will be immediately dropped if the threat is real, also most of the time there are escorts that will engage any threats to allow the mission to continue. Check out Giora Epstein he downed a bunch of Migs and even a helicopter, dropped tanks and chased Egyptian pilots till they crashed. The man was an absolute killer in the air Greatest Jet Ace in history.

It's not a coincidence that American platforms like the F16 and F15 got their first kills by Israeli pilots and that the F35 was used operationally for the first time by Israel

It's funny how close folk got to video/film the aircraft - even on Independence Day in Israel , one is permitted to pose next to static aircraft , and only the privileged few are allowed as close ( to video/film) as I'm seeing onlookers in this video !!!
I heard a similar story, a few years ago a IAF jet was displaying at RIAT in the UK, and the crew were taking lots of photos of themselves with the plane, people at the show asked them, why you do this, when you can take photos back in Israel anytime, the crew said its against the law when in Israel.

The F15 was a excellent Air superiority fighter bomber. The US stopped using them a few years ago. They were replaced by the F22 and F35.
Half true, its take a lot of time to replace all of the planes of the us army, navy and air force. And much longer to retrain all the pilot. I bet the f15 will last al least 10 more years in the usa.
By the way, israel has ordered 75 f35's, which 50 of them or so already functional.

Because of the UAE deal the USA have to supply Israel better weapons so Israel chose the F15x, in the future they will probably order more f35 (by reports I saw but I don't know if I can trust, Israel committed to buy more 25 f35s).

@Richard Que Some of the airframes are from the late '70s and '80s. They have been "remanufactured" in D-Check to extend their life. Lots of avionic upgrades too. We now have new F-15i.

@@richardque4952 I'm not sure what you mean by "aesa". We have a company called Elisra, they specialize in developing and manufacturing radar system. Elisra developed and builds the pulse array radar for the Iron Dome system and the Arrow system (anti-ICBM interceptor). I'm not sure if they did anything for the F-15.

Only the Israeli pilots fly without mandatory external tanks 👍 even tho the aircrafts equip with CFT ( conformal fuel tank) they still do require to carry at least one.

Some US air bases have started using 3D printers to make replacement parts for their F-15's, so I guess theses planes could live on for many years.

@Gissie In the video we see women ground support ( A-Check technicians ), and officers ( planning, operations ).
We do have some women in IAF flight crews, a few made it to elite fighter jets.
