    Great line work on the old buildings. Fun to see the other sketchers' work too.

    I love these type of videos - seeing how you go about a sketch and then others and everyone is just creating art in such a different way and all the results are so beautiful.

    I really enjoyed this! Your sketch turned out great. It was fun to see the process from start to finish. I loved seeing your friends’ sketches, as well, and their various styles. I liked Katie’s water cup! You only showed it briefly at the bottom of the screen when you first approached her (about 6:04 just before you zoomed in on her paints), but I saw that it looked like a repurposed part of plastic packaging from round cookies or crackers, maybe. It had three sections, and ridges where the cookies (or whatever kind of food) would sit. I thought that was a clever idea!

      @teohyc  6 лет назад

      Yeah, it does look like some biscuit packaging.

    Just amazing...thank you. These are my favorite videos that you do. I struggle with proportions and detail and am always so impressed when watching you and other sketchers who seem to do it so easily...but you've all been at it for a long time.

    You are an awesome artist. I’ve drawn with pencil and pen and ink since childhood, so I can appreciate the skill required to do what you display here. It’s far beyond my capability, and it’s totally entertaining to watch.

    Teoh ..your sketches are great. I have a suggestion. Please do light washes and keep your darkest wash light enough inorder to see through your sketches. If you use darker tones on line wash (Darker than the lines), It spoils the beauty of the sketch.

    great video Teoh. Nice to see you back making regular videos again... you are really uploading quite a lot again.. How's your little girl doing? Love to see some recent pictures of her

      I try to publish a video every one and half days. Can't quite do daily videos anymore since they are really time consuming to make. My girl is doing well. She's now three times heavier (7.5kg) that she was born (2.6kg). lol

    I have enjoyed your videos for many months. I was wondering why you gave up the fountain pen? Are you just trying something different for a change? I like the "organic" look of the pen.

    Hi Teoh, your videos helped me out a lot in my urban sketching experience with USK Dubai...I’ve jsut started my youtube channel and wanted to vlog my sketching escapades....I wonder how set up your camera when you are sketching outside... Ive watched how you set it up when you sketch at home or taping taping at home, so i wanna know how you set it up outside... i am having a hard time doing some timelapse of me sketching..

    • @teohyc
      @teohyc  6 лет назад +1

      I bring a tripod that I put beside me while I'm sketching. The camera should always be on the side of the non-drawing hand.

  • @alaskastarr

    I love how loose you are when sketching...I find I tend to grip my pen/pencil too tight...i guess more practice will help with that now that I've realized this.

  • @MissRuthina

    How long did this sketch take you? If you can't remember, roughly how long would a sketch/ painting like this take you?

    • @teohyc
      @teohyc  6 лет назад +1

      Usually for A5 sketchbook double page, it's about 1-2 hours. A4 double pages would be 2-3 hours. It also depends on the amount of details in the scene.

      @@teohyc quick reply! Thank you.
      I think that's where I must be going wrong. I have this pressure to do the drawing fast because it feels like I should. Then I wonder why it looks bad. So I throw the journal in the cupboard somewhere and end up watching RUclips people do it.
      I really enjoy watching your work.

    I notice you use Uni-Ball pens. Which specific pens would you recommend?

    • @higherground711
      @higherground711 6 лет назад +2

      I've been subscribed to Teoh for years now. My guess would be Uni-Ball Signo Gel or Vision Eye (sometimes called Vision Elite in different countries). If you want some line variation you can have a look at Uni-Ball AIR. It's a wet pen so be warned it'll bleed through anything below mixed media paper. Hope I've helped some. 😄

      James Barton signo 0.5 or 0.7?

    • @higherground711
      @higherground711 6 лет назад

      I'd go for both as I like line thick and thin lines for foreground and background objects. I have 0.1, 0.3, and 0.5 Sakura Pigma Microns and Sakura Pigma Graphic 1, 2, and 3 plus the Pigma Brush pen. I've tried fountain pens and they're nice, but I'm just not a fountain pen guy I suppose. 😥
      My favorites for black lines are Sakura Pigmas in pretty much any of their varieties. I also love Sharpie Pens and if I'm using 300gsm hot press watercolor paper I love Sharpie Ultra Fine Tip permanent markers. Sharpie Pens and Sakura Pigmas usually don't bleed through sketch and most of the lower weight papers. I use sketch and French and Japanese blank notebooks like Maruman, Rhodia, and Canson sketch. These are like from 90gsm to 110gsm.
      I'm currently practicing at urban sketching with water based markers. If you want an idea of the look I'm going for have a look at my Pinterest board of urban sketches with markers and highlighters.

    I want to draw our kitchen but it's look too difficult,there are lots of pots and its look really complicated to draw can u suggest me your tutorial like that

    • @teohyc
      @teohyc  5 лет назад +1

      Use pencil to mark out the general proportion, then draw each area slowly. It's more about patience and observation than about drawing skill in this case
