- National Geographic, in the 13 part series called Animal Extractors, documents AAA Gates' Wildlife Control's uniquely humane solutions while solving wildlife intrusions.
During nine weeks of filming, National Geographic shadowed Brad Gates and Peter Nolan of AAA Gates' Wildlife Control as they set out to solve nuisance wildlife situations. The camera was rolling as Brad and Peter responded to the not so ordinary wildlife removals and heart pounding emergencies.

Nature made sure to let us know that mothers are awesome and should be loved and respected no matter the species. Thank you Gates Wildlife, love your shows. I’m happy to see you guys on National Geographic, well deserved.
As the old saying goes: The most dangerous animal on Earth is a mother protecting her young. Great video, thanks! :)
And the young protecting their Mother!
Hey Mom, I'm one of the nice guys--I'm on *your* side. I won't put you & your babies into a cage & drown you. What a good Momma. Extraordinary footage. Glad no one was bitten. It reminds me of my Mom defending me against my ex's sister & once while in Europe, as a foreigner I had to routinely register with the police one of whom responded in a slightly un-koshered manner to something we said & my mom overreacted & didn't stop yelling at them in full voice in front of the police station. They kindly requested for her to lower her tone because she was embarrassing them, but instead she just ramped it up. When all was said & done, she wasn't over with what she had to say & wrote to the chief of police who later came to our door begging forgiveness . . . What a mom will do to defend her adult cub of 27 years old at the time . . . In any case, this was scary. A raccoon growled at me early in the morning while eating the stray cat food I put out. I had a 800 lumens flashlight in his eyes--no wonder. I avoid the area in the morning. Otherwise, I have gotten inches (without knowing it) from raccoons without any hint of their discomfort with me or any objections. An ounce of prevention is a pound of cure . . . So happy no one was injured. Hopefully Mom was able to stay safe with her babies. Great Mom who defended her babies & cared so much for them.
Well, I think relatively speaking a mama raccoon isn't dangerous at all vs a mama polar bear 🤣🤣🤣
@@mnomadvfx Haven't met a mama raccoon, have ya? LOL
As Sarah Palin said.
She protecc
She attacc
But most importantly
She got her babies bacc
lol.....
Does getting likes get you through your day?
@@normhiscock352 wtf I made a joke?
Are you trying the re-write the dictionary ?
@@Sunnbuzz it's a meme, you genius.
The way Pete threw the baby 🤣🤣🤣 9:55
you made it big time congratulations🤗🤗
"Holy macaroni"
So Canadian omg 🥰
😂
I love the evolution of this company. They are now practicing even more humane, less stressful ways to get the Raccoons out and I love them for it. They are wonderful! Thank you guys for what you do for my very favorite animal on this planet! Thank you, Mr. Gates. PS..they don't have front paw, they have hands!!!
What do they do different now? Lol cuz I was watching this and I was trying to figure out how they could make it less stressful, but.... I can't lol. She is aggressive af.
GZ on making the big times! ;)
Nat Geo is one of the last respectable "tv media" we have left.
If only all humans loved their children this much!!
Yeah, ok, you should see what they do to the runts. They leave them for dead. Some mother they are. Also if a baby is sick they abandon it and sometimes eat it. You're one of those overly emotional delusional people. I'd rather have a human mother than some wild animal as a mother. You see a silly video and think it's all rainbows and sunshine when in reality it is brutal. Stay in your lala land. Reality is only for the strong.
going for the camera crew? that is against the rules! ;D
You go tell that to the mamma raccoon!... ;o) ... LOL
I am sure they deserved it. you just don't see that often.
Not only the racoon going for the camera crew but also someone with a camera on a long stick going for the camera crew so it looks like the racoon going for them. Unless they managed to carefully manage to pick the racoon up and fit a racoon cam to it without it chewing their faces off. Lol
I know this has to be done, but it's sad. The mom and the babies don't understand what's going on. You guys are AMAZING though, and you care about the animals and make sure the family is reunited ❤️. Thank you for everything you do 👏👏👏!!
Listen here lady..
Haha just kidding ♥️🦝♥️
They either manage to fit a racoon cam to it without getting their faces chewed off or someone has a camera on a long stick chasing them around. 🤣🤣🤣
Good thing you guys got off the roof. If she started chasing u up there that would have been a lil wild.
😂😂
😂
Out of the owners home into the back yard shed lol
When the mother raccoon realizes she will not be able to get back in, she heads towards her other den. AKA Todd and Betty's attic, the next door neighbors lol.
I believe they always have 2 dens set up.
But MAN OHH MAN. do I love racoons lol.
They are great lol
Yeah, at the least they have 2, but typically more
What a brave little momma ,very sweet
Good thing their wearing their safety shorts
Was wondering where this episode was. Now I know why it wasn't on the channel all this time. Because it's part of a show. But boy, that was extremely bold mama.
Best video of the whole day.
Agree! Totally awesome...
That's a *really* aggressive momma!
Such a good momma & so fearless no matter how big the problem is you mess with her babies & she goes on the attack. One protective momma she says DONT MESS WITH MY BABIES!!! so cute & awesome I luv it
A young Gates!! And same voice!! Love you guys 😊
I know this video was "dramatized" for TV, and I understand that. Just like always though, you treated the animals humanely and respectfully. Thank you for that.
I've watched a LOT of raccoon videos, and I've even personally interacted (and hand-fed) several raccoons at my previous home (none of whom were ever aggressive, destructive, or invasive).
I've NEVER seen a raccoon this aggressive. This is VERY unusual, even for a mother raccoon. I can only assume that the homeowner did "something" before calling you guys that made this momma act so aggressively.
In the end..... great job as usual.
Not unusual at all. The mama raccoon naturally has the mothers instinct response to defend her babies. I'm a wildlife control operator as well see it every time if you get in between most species of animals especially raccoons.. Raccoons pound for pound very tough to deal with not to be taken lightly if need to get their young.
ML L
I agree - I have lots of green space behind my house and lots of animals including Raccoons, squirrels, opossum, deer, ducks etc. My raccoons have never acted this way. I can sit on my deck and read while the mama and babies come out to play or drink water (maybe a few nuts) ha
Anyway - highly unusual for sure!
@@tylerburnham17 Sure.... I can understand that.... which is why I think that lady did something to scare her before calling the removal specialists.
I had several raccoons that visted nightly... often more than once per night. Some were skiddish... some were willing to take food from my hand.
One of them had 4 babies.... and even brought her babies onto my porch to eat....with me sitting right there. Of course, if I moved or got up, she and her babies would run away..... but neither she, nor any of the other raccoons ever got "aggressive" at all.
That's why this video was so suprising to me. I know they "can" be aggressive, but unless provoked, threatened, or cornered.... they generally aren't.
@@mll7250 you really shouldnt be feeding wildlife thats how you condition them to humans
@@realSanta420 Agreed, to an extent. I never attempted to "pet" or "touch" them. I also never allowed my pets to be near them... just in case. In the 2 years that I had "regular" raccoon visitors... they never once got aggressive, attempted to get in my home, or destroyed my garbage.... so I never saw them as a "nuisance". Had they ever done it, I would have put a stop to it.
But.... as it was.... they dropped in once or twice per evening, I gave them some cookies... and they left. I never saw any harm in it.
OMG Brad you had hair!! 🤣🤣 That's the first of your videos where the mom has chased you that we've seen. Love your videos. 😀
I respect this Mama's passion for her children. This reminds me the Harambe situation. The mom did not display the least bit of intention to protect her child. She shouted "mama's right her". The lady wasn't even crying. If she was like this racoon, she would've hopped that fence and went for her baby. Just like the racoon faced several people that were 10 times her size!
This is the first time I've seen AAA Gates on Nat Geo. Exciting!
Gates Wildlife, love your videos and you always go out of your way to let people know that these are gentle animals just trying to raise and take care of their little ones. Raccoons are one of the smartest mammals on the planet and they really are sweet gentle animals that unfortunately have a bad label of just being a nuisance. I started feeding a female Raccoon going on EIGHT years now that we have named Regina and it took a LONG TIME to earn her trust. Since then she has had two litters of babies and brings them up with her to the house to eat. The second litter of babies actually started to crawl up into my lap to eat their food. Very sweet animals and just like people they ALL have very unique personalities for sure. Some of them are more rambunctious and mischievous and some more loving but they are all very sweet. It's sad that you usually always hear about rabbies anytime you hear about Raccoons - INTERESTING FACT - In ALL OF HISTORY there has been ONLY ONE REPORTED CASE EVER of a Raccoon transmitting rabbies to a human, I'll say it again, ONLY ONE IN ALL OF HISTORY . . . ONLY ONE!
How suspenseful! On the edge of my seat watching this video.
Must be an Italian mother haha
I got a good laugh watching them run.
👍😂🤣I laughed so hard when the mama raccoon chased Brad and Pete.😂🤣
I bet you won't laugh your ass off if an aggressive Mama Raccoon chased you
That mama was seriously pissed
Wow, God Blessed
Unbelievable chase! You guys got your exercise while getting the job done! Thanks for the upload. ❤❤
I;ve seen several of your videos and you guys are so good at what you do. True professionals. Nat Geo...you'all hit the big time.
That Raccoon did a good job handling the camera while chasing the man.
Awesome you guys were on National Geographic!!! Dang that momma was mad at you guys!!! That's what you get for messing w her babies!!! 🤣
That was one PISSED OFF mama!!! You do NOT mess with mama's babies!! 🦝
It's interesting to see the difference between what occurred here and the way similar incidents are portrayed on the company's (now named Gates Wildlife Control) RUclips channel. Clearly NatGeo was a bit more interested in excitement than efficiency.
Thank you for saving that family of raccoons!!
👍⭐️I had no idea you were a celebrity!! Stay beautiful and kind though. 💞
Lmao the way she chased everyone
Funny to see you guys and even the cameraman running from her like that lol
In this video ( unlike their other videos) they didn’t do a good job with giving back the babies to the mama. They did it too close and did it in a risky way. They could have just put the baby one by one the roof top and on grass for her to get them. The mama would hear the babies cries and would come out to get them. They didn’t need to get so close to where she put her other babies near the shed.
And they didn't need to hold those babies upside down by their legs to make them cry. This was awful to watch, they deserved to be chased. I wish the mother bit them to teach them a lesson.
Очень крутая работа!
Even the smallest of mothers will go from 0 to 60 real quick and go all mama bear on you.
Brad Gates is a hero for animals.
Good job 👍😅 guys
Mommas do love there babies. Thk goodness for moms 😊❤❤❤
Pretty brave guys not even wearing long pants. My preference is boots, jeans and thick shirts. And they still can make a mess of you.
Being chased by a raccoon 🦝 I’ll keep that off my bucket list. Good job guys .
Wow I've never seen such an aggressive racoon
@Oshe Shango Exactly. I would be worried if she didn't show signs of aggression. She's doing her job.
They're actually pretty easily irritated lol. And when they're pissed, shew! Nothing scares em then
Holding the babies upside down causes them to scream. Works for me too!
Wow what a mom! Good idea to take the kits down to the yard, if she'd starting chasing you guys on the roof there would've been some rabies shots for you guys! lol
Brad u r best
Gotta love the dramatic/sinister music inserts they chose. Lol.
Was the Racoons point of view really necessary? Not even a 3 year old would be fooled
It's interesting to see Gates Wildlife BEFORE they were Gates Wildlife.
Those sounds! Like a little bear. Holy macaroni indeed.
What kind of course I have to take to do this job?
Poor momma raccoon. The babies are so cute!!
Dats crazy 😮
Haha 😂 had to go back to that 2nd location 😆 that was very interesting to watch
was the raccoon wearing a goPro?
Thanks for relocating them to my backyard????
Lol why Pete drop the baby like that😂😂😂
This is why someone invented a tranquilizer gun. You pop the mom with a light sedative, then relocate the whole family to the woods miles away. Far less stress to the mom, far less chance of the babies getting injured during extraction, and zero chance of the mom returning to the attic with 'em.
You can only tranquilize if in a totally enclosed area where the animal can't escape. If they do, they may end of dead if you can't catch them.
That was one Mad mommy racoon 😂😂😂
I laughed so hard I bout peed my pants when she got after them .I love yals video yal are the best so gentle with all the animals & caring .Yal shou;d make video's on how to properly handle these situations like this 1 & use them to teach other wildlife people like yalsselfs .
Young Brad!! 😇🦝🐾🦨🐤
Whew!
HOW are they protected wearing shorts and having their arms EXPOSED
It sucks when you show up to a racoon call and it's just mice.
From a safe distance you could use portable speakers to play the sound of crying babies to get the mother to come and get them, this way you would be out of harms way? Put the baby next to the speaker play the sound of a crying baby from a safe distance and hopefully be out of harms way when the mother comes to get her baby.
So much more dramatic on national geographic...
Her she come Pete lol nothing like a protective mom
If humans stayed out of their territory, animals would be happy to leave us alone. Would recorded baby cries be more humane?
Now she’s in her shed
How much for those N95 masks your wearing?
My neighbor bottle raised an orphan raccoon.
Now he's in my possession.
The raccoon is friendly and plays well with the dogs.
There are a few videos on my Chanel
I feed them cat food and I cook up macaroni and cheese for them. Between the racoons and the opossum's every morning the food is gone. They are so quiet and stealth. Skunks have walked in front of me without spraying. Once there was an albino skunk here in my inner-city neighborhood.
Sad fact: I have Raccoons invaded my house for YEARS and can't afford to get rid of them.
If you live near Chicago I can help.
Yea, it's probably expensive over there, but if you shop around maybe someone will work with you on payments. If not maybe you can get a one-way door to put over the hole that closes after them when they leave, then fix the hole when they're gone. If you do decide to call a few companies, here's something else to consider www.treehugger.services/wildlife-control.html
Does your insurance not cover it?
Michael O'Keefe just take them
Hook worm disease or roundworm among other diseases from their fecal matter in air from contaminated areas would cost multiple times over what it cost to get them out.
The way this was originally edited kills me 🤣
better not go near that shed for a few months
Man she was angry! Run !!!!!
Raccoons are mini grizzly bears.
She was NOT Fooling around with them. Period
9:56 YYEEET
I literally laughed my a$$ off at this one 😁😂😂😂 2 grown men running for their lives LOL
She said you have abused my babies enough, you’re getting it 😉. Wasn’t my most favourite rescue to watch I must admit, the stress to the mother and babies and it was a bit chaotic. I prefer some of the others. However job done.
Relocate the neighbor's house........ Gates sure know how to hustle$$$$$$
American wildlife documentaries are always so dramatic lol
Poor raccoon
Good job Mom
Holy macaroni!
Handling raccoons or any other wildlife in a humane way, then on the other hand, shipping them off to bother other humans - does not make sense. Two weeks ago, it was chaos in our house, raccoon family in our fireplace. The job is not yet finished as the pest control guys have to actually stand in the fireplace to clean and disinfect the chimney flue and also from the top down from the roof. Pest control crews charge anywhere from $ 75.00 to $ 250.00 an hour. Since the evacuation of the raccoon family, we are now hears clicking and popping sounds in the attic. Now what!!! Our house is well kept, no debris around, but neighbor has a junk yard with OVERGROWN trees, trees are an invite for animals- not good. Concern seems to be only for animals and not for people these days.
Way to protect your business and create more customers
You save them, and relase them, later they becomes someone else problems, they call you to save them. Very good business practice.
😊😊😊😊😊😊it's dangerous but funny 😅😅😅.
Your numbers are always off. She had 4 babies, right? She took one from the roof the day before, right? Then how were there 4 more in the box that you had to leave her? And in the beginning, you said she had 3 babies then 4. ??? Same thing on another video, only it was 3 and 4. Don't you folks know how to count or are these videos recorded at different times and you don't remember what you just told us? 🤦♂️
I scrolled just to find this comment. Didn't want to re watch but was curious if I was hearing things or nat geo was slacking off. Lol. Thanks.
