I do not own an iPhone ( I have to buy phones, I don't get them sent to me for free !! ) but for photography Samsung and apple phones are not great due to how processed their raw files are and their old and small sensors. Purely for photography the major players are vivo and Xiaomi 👍
Definitely agree ! It was such a blast meeting up with like minded people, it's not about what everyone is rocking, it's all about photography itself !
Hey, I didn't quite go for the straight motion shot here but more of an artsy look. In a nutshell this is how youd proceed. Mask subject and duplicate to new layer, mask road and add motion blur, mask background add motion blur, mask wheels and add radial blur. Once done smooth out the edges of each mask and finish it off by applying a grade if needed 👍
One part of me would have loved to have gone to that and talked to you and the other photographers and nerd out for a bit. But the other part would be afraid of catching flak for not having a "real camera. " It's so nice to see the one guy offer such a thoughtful and well reasoned opinion about mobile photography. Capture the moment, make an impact, and forget the rest.
You should have totally come ! It is only regarded as a cardinal sin to do "proper photography" on a phone on Reddit and online in general lol Not ONE person gave me evil looks of talked down on me because I was using a phone ! As a matter of fact I spoke to dozens of people and all were interested in how far phones have got in recent years, and most of them started photography on their phones and that's how they got into the hobby ! You shouldnt be put off attending a photography event because you "only" have a phone ! Photography is photography regardless of what you use ! Sam, aka optical wander is a very influent guy in the hobby and I highly suggest looking him up he is a great guy. I've been following his work for years and he has definitely inspired some of my editing style throughout the years 👍
@@UpsideLens as we both know, you'll get far more photography done with a phone camera than a real camera. Nobody can slate a shot they didn't get the opportunity to shoot with their 'real camera'.

Just got one. I also have a Fuji GFX 50s and a X100VI. The later is getting sold, the image quality is as good and in some cases better and its far more useable. I so wish they'd fix the software so i can shoot raw plus and 50mp across all the lenses. The future is very bright for phone photography.
Glad you enjoy it 😉 they're definitely closing in the gap but laws of physics still apply, we just have to find ways to work around it and be creative with the way we shoot on mobile phones, that's what I hope to convey through my videos 😊

Thank you 😊 I don't shoot in automatic due to how heavily processed the JPGs are. I only shoot raw manual and therefore need editing and adding my own style to them 👍
Unfortunately that's only via third party, to my knowledge there isn't a single phone that does it natively. Using the app motion cam you can record up to 60fps RAW which is pretty insane all things considered ! I "only" use mcpro24fps to record in 10bit LOG as RAW video is just overkill for what I do and is already a big improvement over the stock app anyway in terms of video quality 👍
@@UpsideLens that’s what’s up. I wish Android manufacturers would showcase the capabilities of their devices more which is one thing that Apple does really well. Motion cam is pretty exciting though but please do a video on what the Xiaomi 14 Ultra can do using the other app. We need more creators on the Android side. I plan to get the Google Pixel 9 Pro and take that to the next level with these third party apps. I wish I could get the Xiaomi 14 Ultra locally but I might just save up for it and keep that for a few years. It really has everything.
@sidersproductions941 well in fact I heard that the hardware is actually insanely powerful but locked in by Xiaomi camera2api , if rooted it can actually shoot raw in 14bit !!!! That's better than even 90% of all cameras out there let alone phones lol I will do a video in the future about the video capabilities of the Xiaomi , but for now just keep in mind that all video recorded for the YT videos is from the Xiaomi (apart from POV cam obviously) so all recorded in 10bit log.
If you go back a couple of videos to the Xiaomi 14 ultra review , I shot all talking shots / b-roll on the phone. Shooting with that main lens gives such a beautiful bokeh 👌

I cannot tell you what to buy because everyone has different use of a phone. But if you truly want the best as a photographer then the Xiaomi 14 ultra is the way to go. Samsung is just out of the league here, outdated and poor hardware. Vivo is very good but the telephoto is done differently here by sensor crop which is completely different to a real focal length. You just do not get the real compression you would with a real zoom. Having said that I have not tried the x100 ultra but it is physics. You cannot beat real dedicated zoom modules by compensating with sensor crops. Hope this is helpful 👍
? Did you let the phone settle for a week before coming to that conclusion ? Did you do a clean setup (as opposed to just dump all your old files and apps on the phone?) I'm a fairly heavy user, phone gets off charge at about 7.30am and by the time I go to bed at midnight I still have about 30%/35% left ! And that's a mixture of 50/50 WiFi/5G... Compared to my last 2 phones that struggled to get 6 hours of SOT, the Xiaomi gets me easily 8hours ! Yes there are phones that will last you a bit longer than that but cmon man 8 hours of SOT realistically is pretty damn good especially considering you can go back to 100% in literally minutes if needs be with the 90w super fast charge ! 🤷

You mentioned this phone being able to shoot RAW video. Do they have their own mode within the camera app or that only through a third party app?
Unfortunately that's only via third party, to my knowledge there isn't a single phone that does it natively. Using the app motion cam you can record up to 60fps RAW which is pretty insane all things considered !
