    RE: mounting to a ceiling tile. I like to cut a small piece of aluminum siding or similar thin sheet metal to place on the back side of the ceiling tile. Then machine screws in the device to be mounted, through the tile and the sheet metal with nuts on the backside. 6-32 screws are sufficient. Thin metal is easy to work with and spreads the load over a larger area. Will not pull out or break the tile.

    Thanks! A former installer of marine electronics, I was entertained and educated. Stuffing the connections into a hole in the soffit and then continuing run along channel in the plastic soffit is a cool trick!

    Most of these camera installs gave me anxiety.. the whole point of the camera cable is to be hidden from tampering...smh.. nice video 👍🏽

    This makes me feel a little better about my home installation. Hole through the wall and lots of cable clamps. 🙂

    You really provide some outstanding comments and great criticism on some of these. I would like to ask one question though. I am doing research on what I would need and I like the idea of having wired camera with Power of Ethernet and I would like to have a doorbell camera as well that would be wireless and/or wired. what would be a good system for 3 cameras outside, doorbell camera and have a camera inside that would be wireless? Having a nice interface for mobile and computer inside is desireable. Is this a question that you don't mind answering?? thanks, Tom

    Hi, Great videos!!
    I have some questions about installation cables. Do you think it is ok to install outdoor wire through alloy siding without a conduit? Does all wiring require installing in a conduit? I know in Canada, only above the 50V needs conduit but what do you think about it in the aspect of fire safetyprotectionting from sun/rain?

    • @BackstreetCameras
      @BackstreetCameras  2 года назад

      Great question; It's usually the Suns UV rays that degrade a cable to the point of failure. If you tuck the cable into the siding out of direct sunlight the cable should last for a decade or more. Hope this helps.

      You can purchase outdoor cat5e cable or higher if you are running across open spaces. Low voltage can be placed in siding, through walls etc. It's only 12 volts at most.

    Where do you find items to help keep the connections weatherproof ? I just bought two outdoor cameras. I have no idea how to weather proof the power connection. Go easy on my this is my first solo install.

      The connectors are specific to the camera. You'll have to search for the model of camera you purchased. Thanks for the question.

      25mm will be plenty of room for two rg59 cables.

    Im assuming that you're only covering the wire connection and where its passing in this video.. because if it was about angeling and location for eg 2.57 the camera ia facing yhe guttering, worst white..meaning at night the infrared whould pick up an extremely white glow where the customer cant see anything at night..

    • @BackstreetCameras
      @BackstreetCameras  5 месяцев назад

      Yes thats the IR bouncing off objects too close to the lens. You are correct.

    Why do cameras have pig tales? And why the power cord if it's POE?

    • @BackstreetCameras
      @BackstreetCameras  3 года назад +2

      The pigtails allow for easy connection without cracking open the camera housing. There are cameras that have the RJ45 connection built into the cameras electronics, but the downfall is the cable is now penetrating the weather protected camera housing which raises the possibility of moisture getting to the electronics by following the cable in. Most suppliers use the pigtail to keep the cameras factory weather protection intact. The power is pigtail is for powering the camera locally which is helpful if you are using switches which are not equipment with PoE. Thanks for the questions.

    does plastic film on glass camera stop the night vision systeme to be fonctionnel ??

    • @BackstreetCameras
      @BackstreetCameras  4 года назад +3

      Very possible, anytihng the IR light can reflect off can cause problems. As a rule do not try and point night vision cameras out windows, likely the night vision will be very poor to non-functional.

    Do you need a license to become a independent camera security installer?

    • @BackstreetCameras
      @BackstreetCameras  4 года назад +1

      Depends on the City, State etc. Most areas only require a business license for low voltage systems but labor union states such as NY, NJ and others require licences to perform certain work. Check with your local government to find out what is required. Hope this helps.
