One rule for me: No food bank deliveries. You think $30 is a nice payout until you realize you're delivering 10-15 orders all over the county and each one is $2-3. Found out the hard way. No tip obviously and one delivery was to a house with a 3 day eviction notice.
3:58 been telling people this forever. If I do 10 orders I will deny 40-50. My acceptance rate is usually below 40% because I have high standards. Because of those standards though I average $30 a hour.
I've seen folks with 5% acceptance rate, and my own is barely cracking 20. It's sad that that's how you have to do it to actually make money at this, but that's how it be. If it's below $7 and more than 6 miles, you can find some other dope to do it. I'm trying to make a living out here, not run a charity.

I actually have to say I was very impressed with this video and you did have a lot of really good points. It absolutely blows my mind that people pick up the shitty orders and I know they are because I release it in the next thing you know someone’s coming to pick up the same order that I just released it’s mine boggling to me. Personally I think Door Dash is trash but that’s just my opinion I prefer Uber but either way I’m definitely going to utilize all of these points in everything that I do from here on out

My brother! Great video but I’m only to rule #1 and there is an exception to the rule. What if that order is $15-20+ ? Are you gonna wait? I will wait up to 3 min for a $10 order, 5 min for a $15 order and 10 min for a $20 and higher order. Anything under $10 if it’s not ready, I cancel it. Period. Love your video just finished it. My acceptance rate on DD is less than 10% and still do quite well in the Phoenix market. 93% completion and 99% on time

Hi, very helpful video, thank you! Question: about the $2 per mile plan…my territory has rural townships surrounding dense shopping centers. The typical distance is 8 miles. Obviously I’m not getting $16 each offer. So what would you recommend here?
I totally agree with you and yes, the directions they give really suck! I dash in my area. I could not do it where I don't know the area because I wouldn't be able to find it and it would piss me off listening to that thing ding when I'm (supposedly) going the wrong way! 😣
what about missing items in orders? When the restaurants use stickers or seals to keep the bags closed you don’t want to rip them open to double check the items do you?
I just subscribed because every thing you said in this video I do. I start my stop clock when I get to your store. Hell or high water In 10 min I’m bouncing. I don’t look for customers I call you once then I call dash and I’m dropping it. I always have watched but just didn’t click the red button. MY BAD KOUP I FOLLOW MY MILES VS TIME RATIO. But I calculate all times. I've dashed for 12hrs and made like $150 that's just total hours. I know the City SF is way more busy. But you risk tickets and tow. Yeah this only works in you are in a metropolitan area. Not suburbs. Never.
I reject most fast food. I ain’t waiting in a long drive thru line then searching an apartment complex to make $5. I stick to restaurants and rich neighborhoods. Here’s a pro tip: hang out around Chick Fillet, white people tip more lol
Why many dash drivers only doing orders with big tips why worry about tips just do the trip if somebody give tip good should not practically force a tip
So about the acceptance rate, that doesn’t need to meet a threshold in order to be a top dasher? So long as you have that rating and completion rate in order? Edit: asking because I had the top dasher perk of going online whenever I please and just lost that this month and noticed my acceptance rate for the first time was like 50% and I haven’t been renewed those top dasher perks so not certain if it really matters or I’m just trying to bump my acceptance rate and kicking myself in the ass for it

i had a order where they was missing a bulk version of the special sauce and i went back for it after the original drop off and was immediately handed a 20$ bill cash on top of the 10$ tip
I only recently started to get tougher (aka more self-respect) with order unassigning. I had 100% completion, and a 6 car 40 minute drive thru line finally taught me my lesson. Now I'm feeling a little more confident and have started ditching those orders where they "go to check on that one" and leave me standing there 5-10 minutes. Glad to have some extra encouragement that I'm on the right track!
Just started doordash where in Wisconsin a month ago. While I doordash I find the quiet time now. Get my crochet work done while waiting on order. For my small crochet business. Thank you for your tips.
I've been dashing for years but I quickly learned that it's better to stop, park and use that slow time to do something else (I read a lot) and keep my app open for orders. Obviously, when it's peak time you don't have time to do other things, but I figure, during slow times, I may as well stay logged in and read a book so at least I can get some orders coming in.
I'm convinced that the big investors and analysts are trying to scare us to keep us poor and ignorant to the market.. because its steady doing good after all the jobless and market crash talks
hey man thank you for the inputs... I dashed today at a $4.50 peak. I made $82 bucks for 2hrs and 28 mins active dash... now im heading to my regular job... quick income with no sweat
Man, my acceptance rate now 38. So many orders that are over 15 miles away with a very low pay, and I had waited on a restaurant for over 30 minutes for some food. Man, thanks for the advices, I’ll keep that in check
never take anything over 6 miles or out of area...i have been way lower than that..but the number does not matter. its just fear but i dont care...deactivate for something stupid and you lose a driver and ill do another job...who cares..Cash or its Trash!
For One..By Staying in a PEAK Pay Zone for at least 3.00...Also Be Willing to Turn Down those 5-6 Dollar Orders..Going Over 2miles from Pick UP!!! Need to STAY IN Your Zone...You Will Make MORE..Staying Close and Taking Better Orders..I Average Around 22-24bucks an hour and only do 4hrs in the Morning and four hours after 6 o'clock Traffic Smhhh👍🤭Hope this Help's Stay Safe/Careful 👍
@@getatum1914 thank you for your info I tried for 3:30 hours and I made 49 it takes u far from your zone, after I give up because gas is not cheap and the orders for me are kind of far.

For soo little honestly when you can grab more small runs that are under 2miles and make More 👍
One other rule Id like to add is don’t work low income areas with lots of apartments. I decline all apartments unless it’s over $10 or the pay is 4xs the mileage, but even over $10 it needs to be double the mileage
While I’m waiting. I look at where I’m delivering to. However it only list the street and not the town. Any advice? Maybe I should copy and paste it to maps to see?
BENTLEY! you literally made this video for me Bc I’m struggling with the work life balance having a family and two small kids. I’m writing these in a post it and placing it on my dashboard. Thank you so much for putting in all this work!
Dude, I've been doing this almost 5 years. I agree with EVERYTHING you say here. Most of my deliveries are 5 miles total start to finish and nothing less than 6 bucks. The damned shame is how CHEAP DD is with their base pay. I get orders for 3.50 for 12 miles for gods sake. I make the money but, like you said, I have to turn down most of the offers
Doordash really depends on your market, my areas around me aren't amazing but the area I always go to nets me 20 plus an hour consistently so that's where I go. There's not enough orders to decline 80% of them lol I have about a 50% acceptance rate I also disagree about not taking the smaller order, again depending on your area those can be solid. I've knocked out 5 dollar orders in 5 to 10 minutes before. I look at dollar per mile but mainly look at dollar amount for the amount of time I think the order will take. If I see a 7 dollar order but think it will take over 20 minutes I'm not taking it but if a 5 dollar order pops up and I think I can do it in 15 or less I'm taking it.

Trying to avoid homelessness, wish me luck that I can pull it off with door dash! This video is so helpful, thank you 🥰
Damn felt that one I might be getting fired and plan on dashing full time until I land a new job
Wish you the best💯💯🙏🏾

Rule 6: we don’t buy DoorDash stock until it bottoms out
Your videos have helped me reach over $180,000 in trading by age 23! Thanks Doordash Diaries. Keep the videos coming. 👍🏽
Congrats ! I started right before covid when the recession hit. i made a lot during covid from my passive income .
I'm convinced that the big investors and analysts are trying to scare us to keep us poor and ignorant to the market.. because its steady doing good after all the jobless and market crash talks
Congrats and wishing you the best .
@kim sun When I was 20 ,but you need a finance Pro if you don’t want to loose and if you want to be more successful.

hey man thank you for the inputs... I dashed today at a $4.50 peak. I made $82 bucks for 2hrs and 28 mins active dash... now im heading to my regular job... quick income with no sweat
Wow I make that much on a weekend night for the whole night. That’s nice
Ooo shit, that's nice! That's how much we make over here in the capital of British Columbia, Canada
Man, my acceptance rate now 38. So many orders that are over 15 miles away with a very low pay, and I had waited on a restaurant for over 30 minutes for some food. Man, thanks for the advices, I’ll keep that in check
May i ask what state you are in?
Same here in New York man. I use bike and they give me a car delivery distance. Ridiculous
never take anything over 6 miles or out of area...i have been way lower than that..but the number does not matter. its just fear but i dont care...deactivate for something stupid and you lose a driver and ill do another job...who cares..Cash or its Trash!
Who cares? Mine is 28% two days into dashing. I work for myself not for DoorDash.
You can set the distance rate
Made 104 in 3.5 hours today
nice bro!
How
For One..By Staying in a PEAK Pay Zone for at least 3.00...Also Be Willing to Turn Down those 5-6 Dollar Orders..Going Over 2miles from Pick UP!!!
@@flower-qg9pq I Know Exactly what you mean. What I started Doing..Was there's another Dasher On Here Who Showed how You can Tell How Far the Order Is Actually Going B4 Accepting...So It Makes it easier to determine whether you willing to go that far an Back? For soo little honestly when you can grab more small runs that are under 2miles and make More 👍
One other rule Id like to add is don’t work low income areas with lots of apartments. I decline all apartments unless it’s over $10 or the pay is 4xs the mileage, but even over $10 it needs to be double the mileage
Is there a Way to KNOW beforehand, How far the order is going from the restaurant without accepting/declining an order by chance?
@@getatum1914 It should tell you on the offer screen
While I’m waiting. I look at where I’m delivering to. However it only list the street and not the town. Any advice? Maybe I should copy and paste it to maps to see?
@@selenanash5744 Are you referring to DoorDash?
YES THIS! 🙌
BENTLEY! you literally made this video for me Bc I’m struggling with the work life balance having a family and two small kids. I’m writing these in a post it and placing it on my dashboard. Thank you so much for putting in all this work!
Doordash pay has gotten abysmal in my area. 😔
Too many not tipping or low tipping. I dash an hour away from home because of that very thing.
I came here looking for DoorDash tips, I left with life lessons instead.
Doordash really depends on your market, my areas around me aren't amazing but the area I always go to nets me 20 plus an hour consistently so that's where I go. There's not enough orders to decline 80% of them lol I have about a 50% acceptance rate
I also disagree about not taking the smaller order, again depending on your area those can be solid.
