Living in a trailer isn't trashy, it's how you maintain the space/property that makes it that way. Doesn't matter if it's an old trailer or a mansion, take pride in your home. Mow the lawn, don't keep busted up stuff hanging out in the yard, throw away your trash. Just because you might be poor doesn't mean you have to be dirty.
I guess they never seen what Projects and low income housing looks like ....talk about trash !!! Give me a trailer any day with a front yard and trees around.
You know you're poor when you're watching this video and saying what the heck is this guy talking about, those look like nice mobile homes and nice land. I wish I could afford something like that. I honestly don't think people realize how bad life can get.
I just visited New Port Richey, Pasco and there's lots of places like this. 👍 it's not that bad. My sister lives in one of those over 55 condo retirement communities. I'd 100% rather live in one of these old trailers with lots of land than among the meddlesome retirees watching my every move
I worked at Moon Lake Elementary for 20 years. I’m not really sure how I feel about this. I feel like you picked the very worst part of it to show. I’ve been on home visits out there and for the most part the people are good people. You’re right it is generational. There are things back there on those dirt roads that you will probably not see anywhere else and since you are a stranger you could’ve very easily been shot and there’s plenty of places to hide a body out there. As you pointed Out on the other side of the road there are brand new neighborhoods with 500 K to $1 million houses. I feel like within the next few years developers will buy up that side of the road and do the same thing there. It’s one of the last places in Pasco county that’s ripe for development. Overall Pasco County is a great place to live. Some of the things that you say other people think about Pasco County, I’ve never heard those things. I think if you’re going to do a hit piece like this you need to go across the road and show what the majority of the community lives like because this is not the majority. Less than a mile away there’s a community called River Ridge that was new about 25 years ago and it still looks new and it’s very well-maintained and the houses have a high value. While a lot of what you said is true I also don’t think it was totally fair.
Yeah im moving down there and I've already visited. Pasco seemed to be buildint up a lot too. A lot more then where im from at least. Also i didnt see a single trailer home all i saw was gated communities
Some of these "trashy" places may have elderly people living in them without help and useless grown kids who trash it. Not always, but in many cases. 😧
I reside in Pasco Co. There are pockets like this everywhere throughout. The county is growing rapidly and those folks are being pushed out probably up to Hernando Co and Citrus. It’s really a culture clash.
There's a bunch of that already in Hernando and Citrus Counties. But there's a lot of good people too. I'm coming back to Citrus and leaving St. Lucie county. Hopefully I'll be dead before I have to pick up and get away from mass population again.
I only clicked on this because I thought they were gonna showcase the place where my BIL grew up near Land o Lakes High School. This place looks like New Tampa or Temple Terrace compared to where he grew up but it's rural Florida and you can find little pockets like this here and there so as a local, it wasn't that shocking to see.
I live in Pasco county. Moon Lake is like the land that time forgot but most of these people are honest, hardworking individuals. We are all just doing the best we can no matter where we live. Many communities like this all over the USA. Being called a redneck is not an insult.
Right there with ya! Grew up in 'West By God Melbourne' and had an amazing childhood living on dirt roads where no 2 houses were the same! As kids we raised chickens, ducks, rabbits, made tree forts on vacant properties,a ball field with a backstop of Australian tree branches and discarded chicken wire, made little boats of lumber, tar paper, roofing nails and tar to float around in a little swamp, stillts made of large juice cans and rope, just endless simple things and way of life! Loved it,miss it!😀❤💯🇺🇲
I lived for two years in Pasco the people are the nicest people, but I did not like the area, my mort payment no lie $290 a month haha and my place was all renovated beautiful by me I hired everybody. All the people were honest and did good job.
My parents raised us with the idea that soap and water doesn't cost a thing. Keep your trash in the trash can. Mow your lawn etc. Doesn't matter what you live in, just keep it clean.
I've lived in beautiful houses, mobile homes, rented rooms, even homeless in 2012 but I had lots of adventures, traveled, and judged the quality of my life by the people and places that touched my heart. I grew up in that smug judgmental, middle class white suburban atmosphere that determines a man's worth by their bank account. It's just my opinion but a lot of unhappiness would be avoided if we learned to appreciate our differences. Everyone of us is born a unique individual
I am against all of this development in Florida. I'm from the east coast of Florida and have lived in Pasco. The east coast is nothing but gated, golf communities that are insanely expensive and the houses are 8 feet apart. Economic disparities are huge in Florida. Drugs and violence is what you get in that situation.
@@minion0777 No, they are the problem. I was born and raised in Florida and I live in a gated community. Even I know that all of the development is the issue. It’s our state government allowing this to happen, too. All the people moving here are the issue.
@@minion0777 you have no idea what struggle is apparently. Not everyone can move. To believe the outsourcing of jobs, skyrocketing prices, and mass disparity are the fault of the lower middle class and poor is moronic.
I did a little research. Moon Lake Acres appears to be the remnants of a larger real estate development. The Moon Lake Gardens and Dude Ranch was started in the 1930s as an exclusive private nature reserve where members could fish, hunt, and generally relax among managed gardens and fields. It was reportedly a popular place until World War II ground things to a halt. Moon Lake Gardens had to close due to travel restrictions and difficulty in finding employees to staff the resort. After the War, the grounds were sold to a real estate corporation which laid it off in lots and graded a network of roads to access the area. Unfortunately for the realtors, Moon Lake Acres proved too remote to attract interest despite the Florida population boom. Consequently, the lots were sold off in the 1950s at discounted rates to mostly locals who usually couldn't afford to put up anything more substantial than trailers and small frame homes. The area received the standard electrical, telephone, and trash removal services. The county grades the unpaved roads periodically; most of the paved roads hadn't been resurfaced since they were first built in the late 1940s. For the most part Moon Lake Acres hadn't received any substantial improvements in the last 70 years.
It is a bit like what has happened in certain middle eastern an North African countries. Ugly but stable regime gets replaced by a chaotic mess, or something even worse.
I'd bet if you looked hard enough you could find a neighborhood like this in all most any state. I have lived in IA, CA, TX & MN and have traveled a lot. Presently I live on a farm in Iowa. We have some small and large towns \ cities that are as bad as this in Iowa.
@The Streelight Express I’ve been up and down the East Coast. I’ve seen horrendous places in California. Theres truely places THIS bad in EVERY state. Not a single state is impervious to shitty places like this
I lived 25 yrs. in SFL & this just seems rather common. Areas in bigger Lee, Palm Beach, Broward & Dade really no different, not to mention around the big Lake O.
People don't realize that there is almost a blueprint copy of every community and some other town. There's no secrets when you seen so many. It's just like knowing when you're going to get Road tar from fresh asphalt.
It's sad to say that druggees are stealing from poor families who don't have much to begin with. And to think these addicts find refuge in the rural areas...then the National Parks have criminals lurking around too.
I have done appraisals in Moon Lake Estates since the mid 1980's. I have news for you, its not that way because of recent meth invasion, etc. Its always been exactly like that going back 40 years. One problem is about 1 or 2 years out of every decade we have wetter than normal rainy seasons and that entire neighborhood will flood out with 10 inches to 2 ft deep standing water for several months. During this time period, septic tanks wont work. Combine that with it being almost impossible to get house insurance on a mobile home within 30 miles of the coastline in Florida and you have properties paid paid off years ago and cant get financing for. To get financing on a property you have to install a raised septic tank and build a more hurricane safe home. You may have noticed the manufactured homes are 20+ years old with very few if any new ones being installed anymore. Neighborhoods like this can exist without bank financing due to large population of retirees that move to Florida bringing their life savings attracted to these more affordable homes they can pay cash for but then the older homeowners often get 1+ acre with every lot and have difficulty caring for the yard and are also most attached to their possessions so you have "mass hoarder mentality" for which none of your neighbors will complain about your shit pile in your yard because they dont want you to report theirs.
Just last weekend I took my nephew home. His mother, my brother's ex-wife recently bought a piece of property in there. I was appalled and got lost in that place. I will say though, these people are poor. We don't know their stories or what they suffer from. There are parts of the Ocala National Forest we called the armpit of America. Look around you will find this in almost any state or even county. But notice, you won't find community centers, bus routes, clinics or any other type of help for these people in these areas. They get less support from governmental agencies than anyone else. People and communities like this are the true forgotten people of America.
Same here in SW Pennsylvania. My job assigned me to a very rural county here. I need a stronger word than "Culture Shock" because stepping into a truly rural low income area is similar to entering another realm! I make weekly visits to elders who live in homes/areas just like the one shown. Overtime, I've learned it's easier for the govt to takeover properties by letting the existing population die out. These areas have gravel or dirt roads, no sidewalks or street lamps. Due to low population and income, fundraisers are very common. Rural USPS mail carriers drive their own cars when stations in very isolated areas.
Amen. In my rural WI area if you don't have a vehicle you're screwed. Just getting to work and appt. is hard. Then if you lose your license for drunk driving, which is common, you get fines/jail/job loss I can't justify the behavior I'm just saying it happens very often The weather is brutal so stuff breaks.
Minding their own business and who are you to go snooping on people and their property. Good way to get shot for trespassing. Developers will come in and throw everybody off their properties so they can build their housing developments for all the people up north ti come to FL.
So u want paved roads, sidewalks, street lights and playgrounds. Doesnt sounds like u enjoy rural living. Might want to check out the condos across the street, they have all those amenities.
Dirt poor whites don't really care about those things, they vote republican, because they believe all blks vote democrat! In large part they don't want blk/brn folks to get anything from government.
I live and work EMS in Pasco (live in New Port Richey, stationed out of Hudson.) You hit the nail on the head. I will say that Sheriff Nocco has cleaned up a lot of it, but with so many people moving here every day, it's getting tougher. One of the biggest problems in this area is the homeless population. Homeless people move here for our milder winters. But when I saw the preview for your video, I knew EXACTLY where you are. I have had to go into some of those homes. As bad as they look on the outside, they are WORSE on the inside. And yes, meth is a VERY big problem here, so is Fentanyl.
That man is ridiculous, talking about his community as if it's a badge of honor to claim such an area..his cars up on blocks and scrap metals is why it looks so junky , trying to blame minority for the thieving is laughable. There own community druggies are the ones stealing from them, this man has zero self awareness, him and others like him is the reason it looks like the ghetto.
When I was a kid if there was stuff to go to the dump the town would come around and collect it. This benefit made it easier for the citizens to keep their yards tidy. Now you have to pay arm and leg , some just can't handle the expense.
Very true. I remeber those days when the "garbage men" came by in our small rural town. They kept everything neat. Today, like anything else you have to pay an arm and leg to get anyone to do anything. I don't like poverty but this area is so green and lush and simplifies. I remember most of Florida was, still like this in the 80 s when I left. Now it's taken over with planned expensive cookie cutter communities.
Exactly! There used to be community clean up days when junk would be picked up for free. People get old and have health issues not all can get to a dump. Plus dump sites are few and far between.
they said they sell it for scrap. these tweekers steal copper pipe, catalytic converters and my favorite the copper #6 ground wire on power poles. they cut it at ground level and as high up as they can reach, which causes loud hum on phone calls and wifi
I’ve lived in Florida for the past 15 years and it’s so interesting to hear your takes. Aside from the obvious belittling of people who make less than you, you generally seem to get it somewhat spot on. This reminds me of bithlo in Orlando. Literally the same exact thing. In rural areas like these, neighbors always look out for one another and if you look different then all eyes are on you until you get out. It’s a very interesting thing to notate and I’m glad your shedding light to it.
This really bothers me. Where I live, I have started pushing an awareness of “pollinator strips” and have convinced my county to allow some strips of land to go all natural for butterflies, bees, birds and other pollinators, plus we don’t let any trash or junk accumulate beside our country roads. It looks so amazing!! And we don’t mow! I would love to get my program started there. This is truly disgusting. No one needs to live like that. ❤❤❤ great video!!
I get the nature thing but people need to have a place to live too. And until we slow down on procreating we have to make room. Humans are a destructive beast but what do you do? To bad nature wasn't more powerful.
@@sharadasahoo1594 They (kkk) used to adopt a road out there with their name on it. I recall seeing them at circle k out there taking donations back in the mid 90's.
What a beautiful neighbourhood ! so many green trees, looks like the countryside. With a bit clean up getting rid of the trash and the shady individuals and renovating the small houses (not for a new riches condominium) this would be a pleasant place to live in for sure !
We lived up the road from here and my youngest went to moon lake elementary. We moved back up north but lived there for 6 years. Loved going for walks back the old roads. People had horses in their yards to pet. Everyone was nice. Of course there would be some trouble mixed in but more good than bad.
I'm sure every state has at least one place like this. Have to admit its a good getaway from cities and crowds. It really comes down to how you look at it. If you're ouside, the undesirables are inside, if you're inside, the undesirables are outside. The guy you talked to was nice, he didn't pull his shotgun out and blast away. Can't judge people by their living conditions.
Seems a bit odd he thought the community was better off when the KKK was around. Surely you would be better off with a legitimate police force. Down here in Oz the KKK are viewed as a bunch of weirdos..
Nope, it's the one rare space of Florida that has been untouched pretty much since the 1800s. It was dirt rodes and horse back riding when I was little kid in the 80s. Good times
I use to live in Moonlake. I moved there to get away from being in town. The house was beautiful and I had a nice PC of property. I do miss being able to ride 4 wheelers down the road w no issues and the mood pit. Honestly we had a lot of good family times. The lake was also nice. Life has moved on and I'm now out of there, but my kids will always remember the good times there. Praying for u all still there. Best of luck
So did my friend for years. She never had one problem there. We had great times there. He focused on one road. There is no zoning in Moon Lake, nor will there ever be.
I lived in that area for 3 months. There is a serious problem with drugs there. The cops know what houses it comings from. They were at those houses every week. We also meet some very nice people that take care of their homes and property.
That man was very informative. The Villages is trying to take over alot of the areas that my kids live in. People with little money are being forced out.
Nick I'm telling you this as a fan of your channel, when you are down in south Georgia and Florida in that area, never tell anyone that you are unarmed. It will be open season on you
I had a friend living in a neighborhood like this in Hernando county Florida, and his worst enemies were his neighbors. Most were drug addicts, prostitutes alcoholics, ex-cons and fugitives. Local pizza deliveries were not available because of the dangerous people around. He was not able to afford to live anywhere else.
Lol that’s movie still gives me nightmares the crazy, white supremist masochistic biker rapist and that poor person in a leather or plastic suit from head to toe ugggghhh I felt claustrophobic just watching it! I’m imaging Nick coming up with a jingle about that experience lol
Pasco county isn't the only location that has exactly what is in this video. Florida isn't all fun and games on a beach under a Palm Tree. Florida has quite a few seedy areas. I don't think I'd be driving around the areas in this video, far to many unsavory types with guns.
Came here to say this! Surprised no one with a shotgun was on the porch that day! There's really bad areas in north central Florida or around Okeechobee etc, i think he's touched on it before. A couple places I stopped going from west to east coast Fl still have nightmares of and i grew up down south!
The BEST part of the entire vid was the very real world yet positive attitude the moon lake resident offered. He's correct in pretty much everything he said. I wish him well. 🇺🇸
It’s interesting how so many ppl in the comments say they want to go here and/or is making excuses for how filthy the yards and homes are. I will literally never go here. I’m Black and this part of FL is definitely not meant for me.
I grew up in Pasco County in Land O’ Lakes, my hometown is just on the other side of the swamp from Moon Lake acres. This neighborhood did not have as many problems back then as it does today. Still at the end of the day I would probably feel safer driving around Moon Lake acres at night than I would driving around some of the worst neighborhoods of Chicago, Detroit, Baltimore, Cleveland, or other high crime large metro areas. Property crime and drug dealing out in the woods feels less threatening than violent crime or street gangs. In typical Florida fashion just 30 minutes away in Wesley Chapel you have million dollar estates, master-planned gated communities, and some of the fastest growing and most desirable neighborhoods in the country.
I moved from Florida and all I remember from Pasco County was Wesley Chapel. I had to click over to see what was so trashy about it lol. I miss Victorious Life Church, too, that was a super hopping place maybe 27 years ago...
Of course you would. They put black neighborhoods on blast!!! While the drug infested herion addicted white neighborhoods they keep on the low..just like every white person I know has so many family members on fentanyl or herion in epidemic proportions.. but the media is quite.. dope is tearing white families apart. But since y’all run the media .. we don’t hear about how bad it really is. I know because I run a factory in a rural area. Where I am the only black person.. and man ooh man!!! It’s worse in y’all areas .. drug addicts everywhere.. drug houses everywhere, shooting, stealing , break ins..in the neighborhoods. But make it seem like it’s just our cities. Of course you would feel better in poor white trash areas.. you would be at home with your kind..
Such a shame how drugs has destroyed communities and the upcoming generations. I'm sure that a lot of that land is handed down generation to generation. I wish governments would take drugs more seriously by building mandatory rehab centers to rehab addicts and take criminals out permanently so that there's hope or there's gonna be more cess pools like this. There's no functional members of society and tax payers here so you get what you pay for
Part of the problem is that corruption runs deep in most local, state, and even the federal government so the drug problem isn't going to go away as there is just too much money to scrape off the top for corrupt officials.
100% agreed. I know quite a few former military that would thoroughly enjoy cleansing the country of the meth heads and opiate addicts. The drug addicts are the reason this country is sliding. The rural areas are loaded with meth addicts and the inner cities with crack addicts galore. I say send them on to the next life.
finally someone speaking the truth. just cause you move from the north to Florida doesn't mean you're a Floridian! and just because you don't like the way it looks doesn't mean shit to us. most Floridians don't like condos in their yards. keep fighting for the natural Florida guys. I'd love you go muddin' with y'all 😁
@@t.y.5565 Yep those donations and all legal bribery.. I think there should be term limits on all positions in the United States. No one should be in Congress for 40 years.
Maybe 2-3 houses looked trashy but other than that the area looks nice a lot of people have their property's nice and clean and I love the roads trees and grass everywhere it actually looks nice. I would love to live there but without the drugs and violence
I agree with the homeowners/residents, and it’s so sad to know that the animals are being displaced - all in the name of progress. Some areas need to be left alone
I see these crappy nasty places all the time in FL. I’ve seen homes where ppl won’t take trash to the dump and throw it in the middle of their front yards, eventually to light it on fire. We used to call them “hicks” idk
In the end of November in 1994 I pulled off of US interstate 75 around 12:30pm with my Van and 35' Travel Trailer. My wife and I were in-route to Zephyrhills, Florida in Pasco County. We were headed to Zhills Newest RV Resort to spend the winter as we were fulltime RV'ers in our Mid 30's. I know the county very well. One thing I can say is never to Judge the Book by it's cover. Highway 54 and route 75 were nothing. There was very little other than some orange groves, cattle pastures, and scattered homesteads. Many looking similar to your video. Being a "Northern'r" I was an outsider. That winter became 22 years living in Pasco County. I grew to love the area i choose and met and loved many more people than I ever knew up north. The real native is known as a Cracker. Not why you think, it was due to the sound of the whip a ranch hand made. Many were local ranchers and had stayed true to themselves. They are my friends, and many lived the way you shown, but were always good to me. Seek the good in people for who they are not by how they look or live.
Great post ! Just another millennial ranting on about absolutely nothing trying to make a buck, so these channels are a dime a dozen . Great people in this area and harmless .
You can cross the county line into Pinellas county and be in Tarpon Springs which is the best place in Florida, every time my wife and I go to see her dad we go there for a day and it’s absolutely wonderful, very fascinating place.
My area could definitely give this one a run for it's money. What's so crazy about Florida is you can drive through the trashiest neighborhood and 6 minutes later be driving past a 5 million dollar home 😄 Have you been to Apalachicola,Eastpoint and St George Island? I am watching all your videos. Love the channel !!
"Back when the KKK was here, we were taken care of. Now, we're having to look out for ourselves." - Unbelievable and I can't even fathom how people on this thread are talking about the trash. How about the fact the KKK's main compound was there!!! "I've been waiting on the KKK to come back in and take it back over." 😳🥺 I absolutely had no idea about this place and I lived in Florida for 35 years. I even knew people in New Port Richey.
I remember the road out there saying this road is owned by the KKK. I am unsure if that sign is still out there. I can't imagine the Bikers letting these people run them out. They can build all they want. The Bikers still own and run that area. When law enforcement does not like to deal with that area, Good luck to them. I have family still in Pasco and I can tell you that there is old money there, bikers, mixed incomes. Not to mention Al Capones home was there until kids burnt it to the ground.
I had a neighbour like that once. Crap everywhere. He would've fit right in there. Meth and hoarding junk was his thing 🤪 We all celebrated when he finally moved
The further back you got the nicer it got actually. My dad lives in a neighborhood like that in St. Augustine but his house and three other houses are the only ones that are immaculate the rest of the houses/trailers are like this. Tbh if you watch who you associate with it's really not bad. His neighbor is even a Florida Highway patrol. We go to his house to have big family get togethers. It's actually pretty quiet. Most of the people are actually good people overall.
Imagine living in one of those places with no air conditioning and being so poor that you're unable to afford to run the ac even if you had it. Thats what life is like for many native Floridians. I grew up in Florida and saw it first hand.
@@Chaz4543 the heat and humidity is what I was getting at. The humidity is awful. If you know how hot it gets in Florida, air conditioning is vital. Without it life is terribly miserable especially in the hottest months July and August.
I have lived in Florida since birth, North St.Petersburg area. Let me tell you Pasco can dress up the area all they want, put the proverbial Icing on the cake with pretty housing, But you can't take the crime, violence, drugs and low class people element out of the area. I wouldn't live there if you gave me one of those beautiful new houses they are building. If you want to be accosted, robbed, or murdered for your shoes, then by all means..move here.
Q: Is this the trashiest community in the state of Florida? A: HELL NO ! You need to get out more. Hell, I was mowing my yard one year and FOUND A WHOLE TRAILER PARK !
I've lived in Pasco for a long time. Still do in Hudson. Lived off Greene keye rd in new Port Richey. I truly have seen worse. I grew up around Detroit in the 80s. Pasco isn't perfect but it's growing up slowly.
Your commentary is usually spot on, but you failed on this one. Sure there are some rundown trailers, a few looking abandoned and a bit of trash. But just because it’s rural, the road is rough and the residences are trailers doesn’t make it 100% trash. At least it’s green and not an urban shite hole.
Love the greenery of the place. Reminds me of driving through the countryside in my country. Difference is, we try our best to keep it clean and tidy. Hope these folks get some help 🙏
You can find areas just like this in any state. Not just Florida. Myself and my wife have a home in St.Augustine Florida and not too far away are areas that I not like ours. This doesn’t mean that the people there are Bad people!! Being poor, doesn’t mean anything. They are hard working people just like the rest of us.
In the mid 70's my ex and I bought 1.3 acres of land in a new development called Suncoast Highlands in Pasco County. We lived and worked in Tampa, and it's where we wanted to eventually build a house. Sold the property in 1981. Glad we did. My grandparents bought a house in New Port Richey on the water in 69, but later moved on the east side of the 19. It was a nice small area at the time. They lived there till they passed away in the early 80's.
I lived in New Port Richey, in the 1980's, and was a Realtor. Moon Lake Estates (Acres) was one area I never openly suggested to people. If they asked, I would take them to check the neighborhood out, but nobody ever asked about buying a home there. PanamaRose, your grandparents probably got sick of the flooding west of US19. Fed gov. requires flood insurance West of 19 due to tropical depressions and hurricanes, We lived along McMullen Booth Road first in Oak Hill Acres, Tarpon Springs, And then built a home in Oak Ridge in NPR, Pasco County. Both areas had lots of trees and were over 1 acre lots. Both were inland far enough and no high cost flood insurance. I moved back to Ohio, to my grandparents old Victorian home. And we have areas, just outside of my village, that look worse than Moon Lake. Every part of every state has redneck (or hillbilly slums) just like Moon Lake.
Actually, it looks like a third world country. There is no way it looks like Florida I am surprised there are no alligators crawling around. What a mess.
I was raised in Florida, near the Space Center. But my Aunts, Uncles and Grandparents were Florida country folks. My Uncles and cousins all had the coolest toys. Airboating, dune buggies, dune bikes, boats, going gigging and having frog legs. They all had so much fun and lived very simple, outdoorsy and laid back lives. It was an adventure to visit but I'm not sure I would have wanted to live there full time. Thanks for sharing and thanks for the honesty of the man you interviewed. BTW, I live in Louisiana now. Moved close to my daughter and grandchildren. Other than being closer to them, I hate it here. The culture isn't like what you think it is. And if you're not from here, you are an outsider. You can't understand the language sometimes and many will actually speak Creole or Cajun right in front of you to each other so you don't know what they are saying. The voodoo shit creeps me out and it runs deep. I think the food tastes nasty. I don't like it at all. And putting people in jail or prison is quite the big business here. The racial divide is the worst that I've ever seen anywhere in the United States and it runs both ways. Doesn't matter how you treat anyone. If you're white, people of color will screw you over the first chance they get with whatever they can. Some areas worse than others. Tennessee would probably be a better bet for country living.
@@AbdulColey I'm not really sure what was going on when I posted my comment. I must clarify that I've found a community now, a 55 and older, very nice complex that is racially diverse. @ Joseph Imperatrice Sadly, you’ll never convince most Trump supporters that republicans in general, and Trump specifically are ONLY interested in using their government positions and the power that comes with that position to benefit themselves . The democrats aren’t a whole lot better in many ways but, at LEAST they still believe in democracy. Democrats in general are just as self serving as the right but the big difference is that at least most democrats are willing to look at the causes of the nations problems . It’s NO coincidence that over 90% of counties and states that vote republican all rank near the bottom in virtually every single measurable stat as far as education, income, etc. Their biggest voter base is poor white elderly “ Christians” that are more interested in forcing their religious beliefs down everyone else’s throats. Sooo, what you’re saying is…if I visit Florida, Pasco County wouldn’t be on my list of things to do? Lol 😂 When you said that “in all your years you haven’t seen anything like this”, that’s saying a lot. Because you know of some pretty tore up places. 😊
I have lived in Pasco county for the last 20 years. Before that I lived in Tennessee. There are parts of Cheatham and Robertson county that can totally rival anything you'll see here in Pasco.
Wesley chapel in Paso county is not like this. It’s celebrities, multi million dollar homes, lots of money and exotic cars. Not all of Pasco county is bad. Just don’t go to western pasco.
No pride in their property, or too poor and crippled up to do anything about it. Sad that the county or some good neighbors don't step up and help out. I stand corrected...the longer I watched, the more my jaw hit the floor. Hard to imagine that places like this exist in 2022. Be careful...doesn't look like the kind of place to get lost.
@@dcg590 That may be in some cases. I used to think that way, too. Now I understand that there are many elderly who have no one to help them, and they simply cannot do what they used to do. I'm not talking about trashing one's yard. I'm talking about the grass height, weeds, and flowers that need pruning. These things take a lot of time and energy during the growing season. In areas where the weather allows for longer growing seasons, this work intensifies. I think it's pretty easy to see who is trashing their property and who is not keeping it up like they used to do. I'm just trying to make my point about the difference. I know there are those who just really don't care, but too often people tend to throw everyone together. I used to think.."Why don't they just sell their property if they can't keep it up?" To the youngish and able bodied, that's a good question. You would be amazed at how many are way laid by illness and simply are no longer ABLE to make that move. It's very sad.
@@sybsygstgstsgysg5330 I'd rather get lost here than in any big city getto. Meth heads usually just commit property crimes and save the violent crimes to commit against other meth heads.
I've encountered more racists in LA and NY than in the rural areas of Florida. Up till today, I appreciated your videos. But labelling this county as filled with racists is a big generalization and assumption. Many of these are the very poor, "white privileged" folks we always hear about. These are the "marginalized" of the booming Florida. Then if you take a closer look, you'll see white and black living as neighbors. Getting along, Confederate flag notwithstanding. Yet you don't mention the racists in Brooklyn? Brooklyn gets millions in subsidies for their marginalized, but Pasco? When you start driving around Philadelphia or Detroit at night, I dare you to call it a "jungle" or "ghetto" like you just did here.
People should be able to live in their communities regardless of income status without fear of thieves and druggies. Being poor doesn't mean you should be a scumbag.
I grew up in New Port Richey in Junior High and High School. It was so nice back then (this was the mid-late 80’s). I live in Orlando now. This is so sad to see. But Florida was hit hard during the opioid epidemic. Add that to getting three hurricanes in 2004 and then in 2008 there was the housing collapse. Sadly, Pasco was more negatively affected than most areas. Most residents are good hard working people. That said, you drive around any rural area in any state in the south and you’re going to find neighborhoods like this.
Florida has been known for having very lax prescription drug laws… pain management clinics would hand out opioids to out of state people like candy. It’s not at all shocking how hard communities were hit by it.
As a local that lives in one of the “fancier” communities in the area (you left out the mostly million dollar neighborhoods surrounding moon lake), but with family in moon lake, I’m shocked someone told you that you were safe driving through there by yourself. That was absolutely just so dangerous. You really are very lucky! Locals know you only go to into some parts of moon lake if you know someone and you are basically already “approved “ to be there by a resident. 😳. Literally just this past week there were two documented murders and a kidnapping. You are really only safe if you know people there.

Oh hey my friend who moved away when I was a kid went to Moon Lake

Yet you probably don’t give those who live in housing projects or slums in inner cities that same benefit of the doubt.
And.....what is your point. You're off the topic, of course. Go away😳
I reside in Pasco Co. There are pockets like this everywhere throughout. The county is growing rapidly and those folks are being pushed out probably up to Hernando Co and Citrus. It’s really a culture clash.
I grew up in Pinellas County parents moved to levy County places like this from south St.pete to inglis fl nothing new
I saw Pasco trying to improve in just 2 years 2018 I was there, best new Publix and new streets opening new stores it was getting better.
Wow, gentrification continues

Thank you for providing the background about this. Very informative.
And now its inhabited by neo nazis.

Very good synopsis!!! So true about the flooding
I'd rather live in a trashy place then live in a place where neighbors try to tell me how my house should look like .
Yet they continue to vote against their own interests.

Homeless people move here for our milder winters. But when I saw the preview for your video, I knew EXACTLY where you are. I have had to go into some of those homes. We had a vacation home in Putnam County. It was a very poor area.
The BEST part of the entire vid was the very real world yet positive attitude the moon lake resident offered.
He's correct in pretty much everything he said.
I wish him well.

It’s interesting how so many ppl in the comments say they want to go here and/or is making excuses for how filthy the yards and homes are. I will literally never go here. I’m Black and this part of FL is definitely not meant for me.
I thought exactly the same! I’m shocked.
And parts like this
Million dollar mansions and gated communities are just lipstick on a pig. There is sickness on every street there too.
We have multi-million dollar estates in land o lakes
Such a shame how drugs has destroyed communities and the upcoming generations. I'm sure that a lot of that land is handed down generation to generation. I wish governments would take drugs more seriously by building mandatory rehab centers to rehab addicts and take criminals out permanently so that there's hope or there's gonna be more cess pools like this. There's no functional members of society and tax payers here so you get what you pay for
Part of the problem is that corruption runs deep in most local, state, and even the federal government so the drug problem isn't going to go away as there is just too much money to scrape off the top for corrupt officials.
the government makes money off drug addiction duh it doesnt hurt them why should they get rid of drugs

If people keep their property’s looking shitty what makes the state think they should give them more amenities to trash?
My area could definitely give this one a run for it's money. Usually the sidewalks come in when the condos do.

I absolutely had no idea about this place and I lived in Florida for 35 years. I even knew people in New Port Richey.
I can teach you a lot Kelly
I remember the road out there saying this road is owned by the KKK. I am unsure if that sign is still out there. I can't imagine the Bikers letting these people run them out. They can build all they want. The Bikers still own and run that area. When law enforcement does not like to deal with that area, Good luck to them. I have family still in Pasco and I can tell you that there is old money there, bikers, mixed incomes. Not to mention Al Capones home was there until kids burnt it to the ground.
In my travels in Florida I have found that it's best to stay out of most small towns, that goes for many places in the south!

I am originally from South Carolina, and I have seen plenty of this throughout the south.

I was raised in Florida, near the Space Center. But my Aunts, Uncles and Grandparents were Florida country folks. My Uncles and cousins all had the coolest toys.
