    This video saved me a headache. thank you!
    Additional information:
    1. To remove the bottom seat, just pull straight up because it has two snap-in tabs.
    2. To remove the back rest, just lift straight up but it is little difficult and use T50 torx to remove the 2 screws.
    3. Use the long stick with a hook to pull the latch.
    4. To remove the whole back rest, once the trunk opened, there are two holes that you can use the screw driver to twist the latch.3 so that you can easily put the back rest back in step 2.

    Thank you sooooo much for posting this video. We were locked out of our BMW with the battery completely disconnected and were ready to try the method where you trip the trunk wire. You saved us a huge hassel! Especially as we didn't know what we were doing, really. I hope this helps someone else in this situation where you cannot get into the trunk and jumping the battery isn't an option. Our BMW is a 2010 328i, and it worked all the same. I ended up using a broom handle that I was able to slide into the trunk with 2 others holding up the back car seat. I sure hope BMW has corrected this design flaw!

      Godz Kidz It was a torque bit but I don’t know what size we used. We had several different sizes to choose from.

      Hmmm our 2010 is probably built differently because this didn’t work the same . When we unbolted we faced another barricade behind the seat 🤨

    THANK YOU! Your video helped me. All I had to do was open the center section of my rear seat and reach through all the way back with a long screw driver to pull the release handle down. You have to use a flashlight so you can see the pull handle and put the screwdriver in the D ring to push it down. I would have never found the release cable without your video. The release is too far back to grab with your hand so use any tool, or a wooden stick, to pull the D ring down. This will open your trunk! Thanks again bro!

    Thank you for your video. Like you, I removed the battery and closed the trunk to secure the car. Once I did that I could not get access to the trunk again. There’s no key hole on the trunk, and I tried putting jumper cables on the front battery posts. BUT... since there is no battery connected, the circuit is not complete. So all those people who just say “just hook up a small battery or jumper cables...”, IT DOES NOT WORK WITHOUT A BATTERY.
    So thank you for your video. I freaked out for two days, then I followed your steps and it worked for me. I’d say the only issue I had was the two star screws. At first pass, it looked like the T40 bits were the right size, then I stripped several T40 bits until realized it was a T45 but. But overall got it to finally work after watching your video.

    The backseat won't lift all the way off because of the headrests which have to be released....u guessed it...via the trunk. But it does raise enough to get a coat hanger on that release handle.

    The fact that you have to go to such lengths to get to the battery is a major oversight by BMW. There are some really nice things about BMW’s but man there are some really stupid things to. Why on earth they would not have an easy fail safe for this situation is pathetic on their part.

  • @silvanafriedel3957

    So in the front in the passage area inside the car , you remove that part and there are cables that open the trunk. Why this information was not online ???? That is what the expert from BMW did and the trunk opened even when there was no battery and the trunk was locked in this 328i 2010 bmw. I wish someone would have mention this method .

    We’re there any screws removed to pull the bottom of the back seat up?

    • @kickbuttozki9761
      @kickbuttozki9761  4 года назад +1

      NES ADDICT Yes, there’s like 4 if I’m not mistaken. They’re in the bottom and they need to be removed. So you can lift the seat enough for someone to go through the bottom into the trunk and pull on the release lever.

    • @kickbuttozki9761
      @kickbuttozki9761  4 года назад

      NES ADDICT You won’t be able to fully remove the seat, only pull the bottom up. And squeeze someone in there.

  • @ewarda100
    @ewarda100 4 года назад

    no need to take out your backseat. all you needed to do was to use your key which is attached to your fob. underneath the trunk there is a key slot. stick it in and turn real hard.

    Those 2 tork 50 screws won’t come out, I’ve tried using a ratchet set and a drill and no matter how much force I use, they won’t come out.

    Hey I’m just getting into Car DIY’s but I’m having a bit of some trouble getting the backseat screws off. My ratchet doesn’t seem to fit. What is the best tool to get those off? (I am completely confused with the tools and names)

    • @kickbuttozki9761
      @kickbuttozki9761  2 года назад

      Ratchet with an extension, you have to put pressure on the seat cushions. Stick something in between to separate the recliner and seat. That should help. Slide your hand through the seat and feel the screws. I don’t recall the tools but I need to watch the Vedic to remember

    • @donaldhogan490
      @donaldhogan490 2 года назад

      @@kickbuttozki9761 yea the 2 star bolts that are holding the back seat together is extremely HARD to do. I was trying to troubleshoot my battery when I finally got it disconnected and closed the trunk not realizing it would lock me out xD. I found an easier fix and you don’t need to unscrew or play around with anything. Simply get into the car and pop the hood open. Connect cables to the positive and negative terminal in the hood (each of them have it in the front + battery in the trunk) and allow someone to connect the other end to their car. Your car will then have electric power and you can then just press the trunk button on the key fob or inside. It’s faster and easier

    Fyi: there are positive and negative jump connector points in the engine bay where any size. 12 volt battery even a motorcycle battery will work enough that your key fob should work to open the door switches and trunk release switch. Perhaps easier to jump the car than undo all the back seats..

    • @kickbuttozki9761
      @kickbuttozki9761  5 лет назад +2

      VW1971C10, You’re are you absolutely right. That is if the battery is low and in the car. This happened when I took the battery out. And when to purchase it. After that, I had to call a tow. They tried jumping it from the front just like you mentioned but without the battery. It was almost impossible for the car to charge or make the fob key work.. Thanks you for your opinion. I’m sure if someone reads this conversation they would do a better job than me and learn not to close the trunk once they remove the battery.
