Really glad you enjoyed it! Polish black metal is really one of it's kind in my opinion. So many hidden gems that deserve a bigger spotlight and Furia is just one of many projects! I think we also did Odraza track, like a year ago, and that's just a tip of the iceberg. I don't really have much to say besides that, so I'm going to post my amateurish translation of the lyrics of this song that I posted on Genius some while ago, just so foreign viewers can enjoy the song in full ;) English translation: That ton of soul Which didn’t let be crammed into clay To obscure ways With no order flew And each of its piece That ripped from the body Scorched with glow of light Howled berzerk And lone hollow body Didn’t have enough Everything, that it devoured Into the abyss fell Hollow body Didn’t have enough Cries the body Not enough! Not enough! Too much soul! Too little body!
Also, early black metal tended towards short songs. Black metal all derived from Motorhead and Venom, which themselves were most influenced by punk: all bands/genres that wrote short songs. The switch to black metal writing longer songs started with Bathory who, ironically, also pioneered the sound of shorter songs in the black metal genre themselves. Their Blood Fire Death is basically the dividing line, but most all black metal before then was pretty short. Many of the later bands stuck with the "shorter songs" too, like Mayhem and Darkthrone.
This is really excellent. Poland has such amazing underground talent. They somehow manage to make all the intensity and aggression sound so sophisticated and almost classy, lol^^ I would highly recommend Merkabah, a very interesting instrumental project also from Poland that's sort of avant/brutal-prog / jazz fusion with... tremolo saxophone? idk. It's cool though
i dare everyone to listen through the whole furia discography in one go. it will change you. some songs have so many different genres in it you dont know whats going on. and when you think you figured out it changes again. poland is superior in black metal. i can name 20 bands out of my head that are fucking insane from poland.
I recognise that feeling of being eased into harsher/heavier/more brutal music. With growls/death metal it happened many years ago - through bands like Opeth. With black metal - I'm just ahead of you 🙂
I like the atmosphere at the beginning, but after that it kinda lost me. This actually sounded like a mix of (very old school) black and death metal. The DM comes more from the vocals, but the tremolo picking is very BM... though a lot of early DM used a lot of tremolo picking too.
@Jan Den brok It does serve as sort of a playground for intense emotions. You let them roam free for a while and when the song/album ends, you feel the satisfaction of easing them. Interestingly, there is a research that claims, heavy metal music reduces stress. So you can consider them like an expression of high, perhaps harmful thoughts in a way that does no actual harm. You visit this "wicked" side of yourself during the song and are allowed to return back without any consequence. All this growling, distorted guitars are kind of representations of your vile side and if you can not make this fake identity swap during a song, you will not enjoy it. Songs that you like must have something from you, something that you wish to expose at times. That's the way to look at this intense music. Sorry for long and devious reply.

I'm just interested given that you said odraza and furia are just the tip of the iceberg do you have any similar projects you could recommend?

You should check out Berried Alive’s new song, heavy blanket. I think you’d love it. It almost brought me to tears.
Nice.

Not for me. (Why would anyone like this? INTENSITY?)
