Their manager was against it for some reason, I don’t think they supposedly would get “enough money” for being in the movie, when in reality Leslie and the band didn’t really care if they were in the movie or not. Really bad move by the manager’s part.
@@cassiebennet4262 that was added much later on. I believe this commenter was talking about the 1970 documentary that came out a year after Woodstock. They were additionally added into other dvds for the Woodstock festival (such as Woodstock Diaries) a long time after it happened, which is likely what you’re referring to. Leslie himself said that they thought the footage of Mountain at Woodstock was entirely erased, but I suppose they found some and put it on there a long time after.
@@Niktheman74478 Leslie had a history of bad management. I worked a Bryan Adams show in Norfolk, Va in the mid-80's. He was the opening act. Just as he was finished his set and walking off stage...2 State troopers corralled him and escorted him to his dressing room. They later confiscated a couple of his guitars. Apparently he had written a bad check or used a stolen credit card to try and pay some previous hotel expenses for his band. He was self-managed at the time.
I was lucky enough to see Leslie live on at least 2 occasions … this guy would put many more famous guitar players to shame …an absolute force of nature …🎸🔥
I LIKED THE WAY HE STRETCHED THE NOTE FOR IT SEEMED LIKE 20 SECONDS THEN LEANED INTO THE LEAD.THE VOICE AND GUITAR WERE SO IN SYNC. G D BLESS KEEP ROCKIN'
Last of the Rock n Roll Dinosaurs. He's still playing. See this man live, if you love your Rock n Roll. He hasn't softened a bit. Still bad ass. So important to talk about this man. No man alive had a better guitar + voice combination. Some were great at one, good at the other. Leslie was tops at both. Impossible to duplicate. A true one-of-a-kind legend.
@jriverband He got the guitar screaming almost by accident. He was already flummoxed and then pleasantly surprised by the fat tone he got plugging into Sunn PA heads (sent him by mistake!) . . . then, according to West, their roadie got the bright idea to run him through ALL the band's stage amps. "That's the secret to that sound," he said. A happy accident. And he stayed with it.
Is that possible he uses some kind of Echo? With a short delay time, maybe a tape-one. Or is it just the reverberation between his double stacks and the magical atmosphere? Definitely hear it, his Junior's sound just flying to the skies.
You see, this is the kind of guitar/vocalist work that makes pussies drip like Niagra Falls.. When I played guitar out in the Laguna, West Hollywood, Finnigan's Rainbow (LA-, Sourthern Orange County, CA), you had to aspire to play this good if you wanted the fine pussy, good relaxants, money and artistic freedom. When Hendrix popped up, the B.S was suddenly over. The mistake most genius' like West continually seem to make, is not learning the business soon enough. Me included.
And that ladies and gentlemen is how you play a Les Paul Junior!!
YES!!!!!
NO ONE Played a Les Paul Jr better..
He’s absolutely crushing it !! … monster tone … 🎸🎸🎸
This is insane!!!! Nothing compares to the power of Mountain.
No shit! 😂🎉
My 71 year old mother used to play this when the neighbours got lairy She still does this to this day 😂 Feckin awesome 🙌
Killer sounds/tone folks. Got to love this guy - he was ahead of his time.
Outstanding guitar solo. Rest in peace Leslie West (1945-2020)
Clapton and Hendrix had nothing on Leslie West! He could match either one of them any day of the week!
Lol... clapton, yes, hendrix?
Risible 😂
How did this not make it into the Woodstock movie.
exactly.

Really bad move by the manager’s part.
@@Niktheman74478Is it an extended version because I'm pretty sure I saw this in the late 90's?

Haha, his face at 2:10 when the bassist plays the wrong note.
he was getting irritated with him about :50 seconds in
I always notice that little highlight. He's boss no messing about.
@@BRIANTOWN33 I noticed that look and the "come on" or whatever he said and was wondering what it was all about.
Felix said sometimes he would intentionally throw Leslie off during live shows when they were improvising.

Actually it's an edited version. Check out the full six-minute version elsewhere on RUclips.
AWESOME song!

last of the great guitar players.
I am on a southbound Train going nowere
Why aren’t there more Leslie West videos on RUclips?
Where are they?
Maybe not looking hard enough ?
Mountain in Websters, pic of leslie
Why shouldn’t a p90 sound good? Seth Lover was tasked to make the P90 quiet, changed music for ever by inventing the PAF humbucker
2:25 was very scary
Nahh...he was just thinking about Krispy Kreme donuts.
Lil bit.😂
COME ON!
Ejoyed his music back in the day...great solo type of guy
Anyone know where I can find the lyrics to this song. I tried looking for it everywhere but they always give me the wrong song.
now you know where Warren Hayes found his guitar tone and vocal styling
