- Song "Rippin' Me Off" by "Skillet" from album "Alien Youth". Enjoy!
Lyrics:
They say Jesus is doing nothing
They say evolution took His place
There's no God that created the world and
No Savior for the human race
They say God is powerless
He laughs aloud as we cry in pain
It's just a part of his sick, sick humor
Forcing us to appreciate
CHORUS
You say that God is dead but you're rippin' me off
You can't infect my mind with your vanity
You say that God is dead but you're rippin' me off
You can't infect my mind with your vanity
You're rippin' me off
They say God doesn't even exist
We made him up just to numb our pain
They can't believe in a loving God
Who doesn't believe in atheists
CHORUS
We take too much
CHORUS - Видеоклипы
I wish people would just grow up in these comments. Besides, this is like a song from 2001. And it’s not like it’s a song attacking atheist for not believing in god. This is a song John cooper wrote in response to marilyn Manson and all atheists and sadists who try to bash Christians believing in their faith. It’s not a attack on atheists as a whole.
There are two types of atheists: atheists who believe their opinion is right, and if anyone doesn’t agree or doesn’t share the same beliefs as them, like Christian’s for example, they get angry and insult them. And there are atheists who do not share the same beliefs as Christian’s, but even though they don’t believe in god, they respect other’s beliefs.
This is a song calling out the atheists who try to bully Christian’s because of their faith, and of course, marilyn manson who glorifies that type of stuff. And as I said, this is a song from 2001. Skillet have changed since then. There’s no need to get so extremely angry over a song that you have to comment a million times on this video in one day expressing your anger and attacking everyone who doesn’t agree.
Atheists are not bad people just because they think a certain way. But it’s because some atheist just feel like if anyone believes in god, then they have the right to attack them just because they don’t believe in what they believe that give atheists a bad name. When In reality, they are actually really nice peoples. But you gotta understand, nobody, Not even Christians should try to force their beliefs down each other’s throats. And if no one agrees, don’t get so butt hurt that you have to resort to insulting and belittling. But that’s just some atheists. And because of them, they give atheists a bad name.
Let’s just all enjoy music no matter your religion. Whatever song speaks on your level, go straight for it. It’s your way of life!
Skillet's 2001-2003 and 2003-2005 eras are the heaviest
i love the "GO GO GO" parts :P
I love this song so much ... I grew up in a non-Christian family that forces religion down my throat.. But im a Christian & Always will be
I'm an atheist too and i love skillet!!
All those "I'm an atheist but" types are shocked when they see that Skillet wrote an "anti-atheist" song years ago. Because, obviously, Skillet is composed of Christians. And, maybe their worldview isn't going to align with yours. There's no "I'll interpret this as I please" for this song.
The bass is so loud and growls a lot, I absolutely love it.
Love this song
i love skillet!!!
love this song
I love this song basically God's Not Dead
died and then came back ..
one word: AWESOME!
And this is what is known, students, as a good atheist. And not the troll atheists that frequent youtube. You made my day, thank you.
I am Agnostic but I think it's pretty cool that Skillet made a song like this! I hope they keep going! X3
This song rocks
holy crap this songs awesome
Why am i listening this song just now? when I think I already heard his best songs appear this jewels xd
My favorite song
Stop the ugly comments, let them belive in what they belive, if u don't like it why listen to it and don't comment and forget about the song! Skillet is trying to spread christen faith and im a christen so this song is my type :)
Yes thank you
The nastiest comments I've seen are from Christians calling athiests and non-Christians retarded and stupid. Christianity doesn't need spreading, and Skillet don't give two shits if their music inspired people religiously or not.
You're rippin' me off! Hell yeah !
"Burn reptiles! Baby wings!" XD -the beginning.
THIS SONG IS FINNA AWESOME
YOU'RE RIGHT TOTALLY !
I love Skillet
I love skillet
está chida!!
WAU!!! krutopřísný! :D
+Sára CHANNEL :D neasi :D #panheadforreal
the begging brings it out alot
i love this song when i was Muslim and when i was Christian.
now i am atheist and still love it ❤
#OMG AWESOME
O.o what the hell!!!!!!! the beginning! i just cant describe it...just O.O
I think this is one of my fave albums
I hate getting involved in the comments on RUclips, but I kinda have to respond to this. So, all of you atheists are saying the Skillet is being closed-minded with their comments, and yet you are doing the same thing. If you don't like the song, then just don't listen to it. This is what early Skillet was like. Then they signed with a new label that won't let them explicitly state God. However in songs such as Monster and Hero, I can still see a Christian Message *nods*
same
Kevin Yang yahhhh boi
Why can't they sign to a label that lets them say what they want? If i was good at music i'd make songs that were excellent in every aspect like that just to annoy people, troll the whole world like that.
Kevin Yang no you don't have to respond to this
@@deadaccdeadacc2134 Atlantic helled make P.O.D. huge, they have Christian songs in a secular format too. However, Frontiers lets Stryper mention Jesus all they want
I kind of envy and respect Skillet for making a song like this. This is something an artist like Marilyn Manson would do to towards religion, so why can't Skillet do something similar?
A pretty cool move from a Christian Band if you ask me...
Well, that's exactly why they did it--as a response to Manson.
For a christian band, there are a lot of anti-religious comments...
Atheists probably just come here to hate
Basically John wrote this song after going to a Marilyn Manson concert. This is more of a diss towards him.
***** Um, no. I was talking about the comment section. If you go past the first couple of comment pages, there was a lot of anti-religious postings. I know what the song means.
I'm atheist, but this song kicks ass
@@AVKryshtal that's not clear in your comment
that is pretty amazing,his voice and the theme.beginning is weird,but i love the message,besides,i'm a Christian;atheists can just shut up!and thanks for lyrics,well done,keep it!
yeah
i agree with this song
@moitotoiii i'm glad to hear how somebody who even isn't Christian likes Christian's band music.i'm Christian and i really appreciate that.thank you
Just to let you know, this song was written by John as a response to Marilyn Manson's behavior, antics, and lyrical content.
i love it!Dont rip me off. enjoy
"You say that God is dead but you're rippin' me off" Is He talking to Nietzsche?
Anyone who gets that offended by any musical artist, especially for their stage persona, is kinda childish.
@@jasonhook3884 Yeah, but Nietzsche claimed religion to be pathetic and weak. Criticizing a lifestyle because it doesn't suit you and call others cowards for living it is childish as well.
@@d4rksonic474 Yeah, here's the thing, Neitzsche didn't just wander around bickering with religious people and rubbing his ideas in everyone's faces. He also never said anything he wasn't prepared to fully explain, and it is these two qualities amongst others that are the reason he is considered to be one of the greatest post-modern philosophees of all time.
Now. I won't ever claim to be a great philosopher or all-knowing academic, but I'm gonna go ahead and say that saying Frédéric Neitzsche and *ahem* the guy from Skillet.. are equally as childish is probably one of the more short-sighted things I've heard someone say in quite a while.
That's good and all but...what the heck are the words at the beginning?? I've listened to this hundreds of times and still don't know.
I’m not too sure but it sounds like “baptise me”
It's "I must believe". (I muuust, be-lievve)
I like Skillet.
Oh my God!
Philosophy classes!
Jesus we need you more than ever!!!
its kinda hard to take the song seriously at the begging but later it gets awesome
same here
im not christian but i love this band!!!
yup. this is the song that sparks the war!
i was told Skillet was a christian band.....this song blew that out of the water O_O
Even though I'm an atheist, I still enjoy this song like any other Skillet song. Sure, it offended me at first, but fucking hell who gives a shit? We choose what to and what not to believe in, we don't have to be offended when someone disagrees. Hell, this is one of if not my favorite song from Alien Youth, and even I sing along whenever I listen to it! Enjoy the fucking music and leave your faith (or lack of, in this particular case) aside
@AyameKira14 :) Glad to know i'm not the only one who feels that way
@MsLissyyy theyve been a christian band since the beginning...
incase you dont know, this song is from 2001, and the first song on their first album called I Can is very Christian, and another song on that album called Paint is about the fall of man and Adam and Eve in the garden
I love how they became a Christian band
they always have been
@graffikart i agree
OK can we plz just enjoy and band and their amazing song and keep ur believe to ur self! and stop fighting about it -_-
2:28 AYO JOHN CHILL😮
I like how the two top comments are the exact opposite of eachother.
@soccer16dewey I agree completely!!!!!
Made me
@cinematographystudio Have a look into the blind watchmaker argument, and the big crunch/big bang cycle theory.
any 1 know what John says @ very begining of song w/ autotune?
@UndeniablyInsaneGuy well the last bit he says Rippn me ....the first part is harder to hear....it might either be our lives or our wings
why are all of you hating on atheists? im a christian and i love them all the same. those of you laughing at atheists are closer to hell then they ever were because youre judging and condemning them. were supposed to show gods love to the world which is unconditional instead of laughing and judging their beliefs. and who cares an atheist is listening to a christian song if anything you all should be happy as a christian to hear that. god is dissappointed in everyone of you that laughed at them
i aint a christian, and im addicted to skillet.
i am an athest and i love this song
@UndeniablyInsaneGuy I think he is saying "clap your hands"
the beginning is kinda wierd but i love this song
Great song with a great message,
Haters gonna have foam in the mouth!
@MANOS GERODIMOS Take it from someone who's been studying this stuff for a decade and is even a licensed minister- Puritan by-the-book Christians love nothing more than weaponizing their holy book to infringe upon the good nature and natural freedoms of others.
Internet is not the right place to have conversations like that so shut up and enjoy the song.....seriously in a lot of skillet videos people r arguing about religion , all this fight will lead you nowhere..Skillet are amazing and this kind of songs r million times better than today songs.
You kidding me? The internet is the perfect place to have discussions like this. It's WHY the internet was invented.
@fangg97 I think it says "I m-must b-believe
Jesus is still alive, that's what I believe...Ev'ryone who doesn't know Jesus should try to meet him...he will change your life.
:O Where can I download this song??? It's so awesome! Heh
how can you like a band but not what they believe in? Skillet is a christian band yet almost all the comments except for a few are negative to them sharing their faith?? really?
You can like a band but not what they believe in simply cause pain is a universal language that everybody understands. Religion doesnt change pain. Its still real and there. Songs are open to interpretation many times and religion isnt shoved in our face. But this song goes and insults us for not conforming to their beliefs. Im all about freedom of belief. This song shows skillet isnt. This is like a shit stain on your favorite undies... How would you feel if one of your favorite bands called you vain? Just cause you dont conform to religions vain ideals? Can you tell me that this song isnt hypocritical? Im resisting the urge to hit dislike on this video cause the fault is with the band not the lyric video. In truth im surprised there arnt more atheists here arguing cause this song goes out and calls us out it a very hypocritical way that would leverage their arguments... Ugh this song and comment section make my head hurt lol im off to find more songs for my playlist... Mehhhh.....
Usually Skillet makes songs that christians, agnostics and atheists can enjoy. This one is just for the religious, and just the fundamentalist type that likes to shove their faith down our throats.
I know it's an attempt at a "response at the same level" to Marilyn Manson, but Manson is clever and his music criticizes extremists and religious concepts such as morals, not religious people in general.
anybody understand whats being said at the begining?
i love skillet and i have a different religion thats baically been forgotten
@merp715
That has to be subtlest way I've heard it put . . .
I'm an atheist. I've always respected every religion and I've always loved skillet. They make great music and they seem like very nice people, but this song makes it seem like there saying all atheists are terrible people, but we're not. Yes there are atheists out there that hate religion but that's just a small percentage of atheists. Even tho this song hurts me, I am still gonna love this band.
Dylan Raybon Well, you are right, it's only a small percentage. Unfortunately, most of the atheists you can see out there in the internet are like that. Even in this comment section you can see them, so that's why, apparently, it feels a hate. This song is based on a Marilyn Manson concert. One of those atheist who said that there isn't a God, and then talk about hating him, is like, hating the unicorns, you can't see them, you don't believe in them, but you hate them? That doesn't make any sense to me. But the point is, it's made for THOSE atheists who don't believe in God and hate us for believing in it. As I said, everyone worships a God, Christians believe in God and Jesus, Muslims in Allah, Atheist in Science, Buddhists in Buddha, and so on. I think that not all Gods are good, few of them make us even ruin our entires lives, but I'm really sure I follow the right one, Jesus Christ, Savior Of The World.
Dylan Raybon Oh, one more thing... Jesus is real, no because I said so, because historically he existed. Not only because our history is divided by the time he was born, but also because in the history books and information you can find a lot of his life, and the life of the prophets that lived in those times. Only to make you know, historically Jesus WAS real, but I believe he IS real.
Dylan Raybon I don’t think they really meant what they said in the lyrics.
You have to keep in mind that John Cooper was about 25 when he made that song. Pretty sure, he‘s got a better mindset now ^^
Considering the destruction atheism has wrought in society and within individuals, this song is harmless. It clearly expresses the Christian belief that the atheism worldview espouses falsehoods that undermine Christianity. Any Christian who is "tolerant" of atheism itself is lukewarm.
@UndeniablyInsaneGuy bro he says rippin meeee, oooffffffff
what is he saying at the begining
Never let yourself be diverted by what you wish to believe.
It's rippin me off to see my friends who are fans of Manson...
@deidara69100 christian isn't a lable it's a life style, and not all of us hate athiests, we simply want to see you saved, and to welcome you into our family :)
@JadofDewm As far as prayer, yeah, I know people like that. But there also is some truth to that. For example, Paul had quite the relationship with God, yet even some of his prayers went unanswered. Why? Because it was not God's will. In one instance, he asked God three times to remove a tormenting spirit, but God did not, for His own reasons (2 Cor. 12:7-10). The difference here is Paul knew exactly why God did not do as he requested. He still got an answer, even though it was no.
@theqrokz I feel ya there.
When Nietzsche said that, it was a time of many new scientific discoveries and breakthroughs that rendered the necessity of God as the creator of everything null and void. God was no longer needed as the explanation for the existence of everything. Hence, "God is dead. We have killed him." He didn't mean that literally. He was describing the death of the concept of God, not God himself.
@gingerchick007
"...Shall we accept good from God, and not trouble?..." Job 2:10. As humans, we seem to think we're fine all by ourselves when everything is well. When something bad happens, we immediately blame God for not protecting us...We have to respect both swords of the coin. God blesses us in innumerable ways, yet when a single curse falls upon us, we seem stricken. He died for me. I live for Him. God Bless!
@XNiteAngelX
You said this a long time ago (about 8 pages from where I am...) But anyways, I'm glad that you feel that way. It's really annoying to see Christians treat those people in a way they shouldn't, what's really supposed to occur is brotherly love and the want to show Christ as a result of this love. Thank you for knowing this part of Christ's teaching very well, because it's very rare.
@TheGokua lol :D try pressing ctrl and 'f' and then type what youre searching for (in this case, you should type up your username) in the search bar that pops up and it'll highlight everything that matches the thing you typed in.........if that makes any sense :P
@UndeniablyInsaneGuy sounds like hes saying "im at odds with the world"
@maxzburatorul thats always :D
This was the biggest uno reverse card Skillet put on Marilyn Manson
@deidara69100 Oh and I don't mean done, as in, I'm done believing, I mean I'm done talking about it. Take care!
@timesgardian whats your religion?
@timesgardian whats your religion
@merp715 yes but true :3
@BeyondtheChaos1 That sounds so funny but it does sound like it in the intro :P
Saying something is 'dead' infers that at one point it was 'alive' or that it 'was' at all.
yeah 4 real
