Who noticed that I kept calling the popcorn stitch a puff stitch? 🤣 (you have to watch to the end!)
I did so got confused again thought I'm getting crazy cos I know the puff stitch very well. So when you called it a puff stitch I was thinking of getting my eyes and ears tested hehehe😀
@@karinvanrooyen8725 very nice thanks
Yes... I did... I love making popcorn stitches and make flowers with them and then put leaves around... makes a very pretty granny square... I was thinking maybe someone taught you it was a "puff" stitch😊👍
A 4-petaled popcorn granny square: l learned more than 20 years ago:
Ch 4, join with a sl st to form a loop.
Ch 3, (counts as first dbl cr throughout)
4 dbl cr in ring, pull loop up, remove hook from loop and insert in top of ch 3, pull loop through to tighten (popcorn made).
Ch 3, SC in ring, ch 3. 5 dbl cr in ring, pull up loop, remove hook from loop and insert in top of first dbl cr, pull loop through to tighten (2nd popcorn made).
Ch 3, SC in ring, ch 3. 5 dbl cr in ring, pull up loop, remove hook from loop and insert in top of first dbl cr, pull loop through to tighten (3rd popcorn made).
Ch 3, SC in ring, ch 3. 5 dbl cr in ring, pull up loop, remove hook from loop and insert in top of first dbl cr, pull loop through to tighten (4th popcorn made).
Ch 3, SC in ring, ch 3, sl st in top of 1rst popcorn, fasten off, weave in ends. 4-petaled popcorn flower made.
For leaves: Attach green (or color of choice) in any sc. Ch3, 2 dc in same sc,;(a 3dc shell made) ch 3, 3 dc in same sc, ch 1. 3dc, ch3, 3dc in nxt sc, ch 1. 3 dc, ch 3, 3dc in next sc, ch 1. Do the same in the 4th sc ending with a ch 1 in the top of ch3 of first dc shell made. Fasten off.
Join contrasting color/background color in any ch 3 sp, 3dc (remember, a ch3 is counted as first dc) ch3, 3dc in same space (corner made), ch 1, 3dc in ch1 sp, ch1, 3dc, ch3, 3dc in nxt ch 3 sp, ch 1, 3dc in ch1 sp, ch ... Continue around ending with ch1 and then sl st in top of ch3. Little popcorn floral granny square made... Add other rows in granny style... But there are many things one can do with this...😊
Yeah, I was just about to say that in Portuguese we call it popcorn stitch 😂
magic circle, 8 dc (sl st to join)
r2: ch 1, 2sc in each (sl st to join)
r3: ch 2, *2 dc in stitch, 1 dc in next stitch* repeat around (sl st to join) - should have 24 stitches
r4: ch 1, *2 sc in stitch, 1 sc in next 2 stitches* repeat around (sl st to join) - should have 32 stitches
r5: ch 2, *2dc in stitch, 1 dc next 3 stitches* repeat around (sl st to join) - should have 40 stitches
r6: ch 1, *2 sc in stitch, 1 sc in next 4 stitches* repeat
r7: popcorn stitch: 5 dc in one stich, pull loop through first loop, ch2, skip stitch, popcorn stitch, repeat
Thank you! ✨️
This was my first successful project 😭😭😭 thank you
Well done you 😊
Congratulations! ☺️
Love this! Everyone I know will be receiving a set of coasters for Christmas!💕
Sounds like a great gift! 🎄🎁
This is the first circle tutorial l am watching without getting confused along the way. Thank you for making it so simple to do. And the popcorn fringe, they are lovely. I will use them on other projects. Yes you kept on calling them puff stitches 😊
I'm so glad! It bothers me so much that I kept saying puff but I tried to throw a little humor in there to make it better 😂
As a beginner, I found this tutorial really great! Thank you!! The pattern is just amazing and beautiful! I tried and came out beautifully.
That's great! I'm so glad you enjoyed it. Happy hooking!
Thank you so much for this tutorial! This is my first crochet project I have ever done and it was so easy to follow! x ☺️
That's great! I'm so glad!
Why does mine look so much bigger than yours? Maybe cuz I'm left handed. Lol
That used to happen a lot to me lol
I LOVE this pattern so much! I just whipped up 12! In red, white, and blue and now I'm looking at my stash for more colors. Everyone is getting a set if coasters! Thanks for this great pattern. Oh, and my FAVORITE drink is definitely coffee ☕ 😊
Oh yes I have to agree with you on that! I’m so glad you’ve enjoyed the pattern!
Bro what is this pattern. I always get one less stitch than the number she says there should be.
In the second round there should be 16, I have 15.
Then in the 3rd she says there should be 24, I have 22.
I have undone and done the stich again and again so many times. Can someone guide me? I don't think I'm doing anything wrong. I've rewatched and redone so many times.
I've been trying to learn simple projects to try and start a small business, and this helped me so much ❤ I have arthritis, so it's a struggle but I loved being able to rewatch parts that I thought I messed up on!
my coaster is humongous lmao
So is mine! 🤣🤣
idk if this is normal but mine turned out like a bowl? is there anything that couldve caused this or a way to fix it?
from what I’ve learned so far I think it was too much tight tension, am I right?
@@veronikapop8161 its been a while since i crocheted something flat but year i was pretty tense
You made this so easy to do for beginners! Thank you! ❤
My favorite drink. Ice tea
This was so helpful! I always get confused when it comes to circles but you explained it so well! they will make a great housewarming gift for my bestie
Thank you so much! I just started 2 days ago and this was immensely helpful, though I wanted a coaster without the fringes, I just didn’t make the fringes and sewed in the rest, turned out super cute
Hi! Were you intentionally creating the little "cupping" effect, and is it recommended to use a slightly smaller hook? I love this pattern. Thanks!
I’m glad you like it! I didn’t “intentionally” create it but I do love that it turned out that way! When you’re making it (like it the video) it looks a lot more cupped than it does when you’re finished with the popcorn stitches. I would use the hook size that’s recommended for the yarn you choose.
@@SigoniMacaroni Thanks for your reply! Have a great weekend!
The very first circle tutorial I’ve watched without getting confused thank you 😊 🙏🏻 keep going please 💖
Yay! I'm so glad you enjoyed the tutorial
Hello! I am so excited I just finished my first coaster and I so enjoyed myself, I have tried before with crochet and got frustrated and gave up, with u I was so enjoyed how you showed your work and how you gave instructions, I am 57 and very thankful I found your video. Thank you so much for taking time and making these videos🙂
Best crochet guide channel ever, I went through so many videos and channels, but it was all confusing and then I found your channel, made my first crochet project with your help ❤
this was so fun to do as a beginner, you explained it very well! but i keep getting distracted and forgetting how many stitches i've done 😂
This is me. I am counting out loud now.
First time ever crocheting and you made it so easy for me. This was the best tutorial I watched, thank you!!!!
Thank you for the easy to follow pattern. It took me a couple of tries, but I got it. I mistook one single crochet into the next two stitches as double crochets.
My favorite drink(s) would be water, milk, tea.
GOD loves you and only Jesus.
Easy, beautiful pattern. Your instructions are so clear and I actually developed a new way of crocheting because of your video. It will save me time in the long run. Wish I would have seen your channel sooner!
Note for me haha
First round: 8 double crochet
Second round: 2 single crochet in every stitch (16 st)
Third round: chain 2, 2 double crochet in stitch, 1 in next, 2 in the next etc....(24 st)
Fourth round: chain 1, 2 single, 1 single, 1 single, 2 single etc...
Super duper nice and easy, this is also my first project!!! Thankk youu!!
That's awesome!
I made it, thanks alot ❤your instructions are very helpful and clear 🤌🏻💕
1 question, can we start it with Magic ring and 8DC in the magic circle? Will the results would be same?
Super easy pattern but there's alot of stitches. I made a set of 4 and it took me about an hour.. Great for beginners though!
i stopped here 7:33 bc either my yarn is too big (i don’t think so, it’s a 4) my hook is too bag (don’t think so, it’s 5mm) or maybe my tension is too loose? not sure but at this point it made a perfect and very beautiful coaster, i just did a slip stitch & put a knot in it (sry im new and it doesn’t make me feel secure otherwise 😂) it’s super cute. my tension was at least consistent this time and i did it first try
My favorite drink is an iced tea that I make which is a blend of Raspberry Hibiscus and Blueberry. It's super delicious. I make it in large batches and just enjoy.
Hi! I'm not sure if you mention this in the video, but approx. how many yards of yarn are used in each coaster? I'm just trying to know if I've got enough of my desired color. Thank you!
Tried to get the free written pattern for this coaster, but couldn't find the button to download it so I could print it . Can you help me?
my first ‘official’ pattern done!!! after teaching myself to crochet a few months ago, this was a delight to make!! super easy to follow, thank you so so so much. It took me a few days to conquer my first one, but made my second one on a
I am looking to crochet a bigger circle (I'm using them in between a dinner plate and charger to stop my plates from spinning on the charger) what would be the pattern to add 3 or 4 more rows before the popcorn stitch?
Thank you so so much for this pattern. My first successful project. Going to make a set as a gift!
i’m literally convinced ur a witch because of the way ur not moving ur index finger. i don’t get it
Made this pattern 2 years ago for a friend. Now I'll make again for another friend ❤
My favourite drink has to be either ice cold water or ice cold lemonade!
I just made a set of six in different colors and they look so beautiful. Thank you for sharing your talents and time with me. I really appreciate it. 😊👍
Thank you! This was my second ever project and I finished in about 2 hours. Very lovely coasters, you did a great job of explaining the steps. :)
I’m crocheting for the first time in my life and this tutorial was so easy to follow! I wanted to make something simple but cute and this was perfect. Thank you! ❤
Caramel macchiato lattes & matcha lattes are my favorite drinks!
I made this like 2.5 years ago absolutely obsessed and mine was stained and just old … I never washed it but tonight I made a new one with a 4.25 hook and it’s significantly larger…. I’m not sure how but I liked my smaller one so I guess I’ll be trying it again tomorrow with a smaller hook. It is however my all time favorite coaster pattern I have some for different holidays for my living room but my fave was my nightstand one
It’s totally normal for your personal tension to change over the years. 2 1/2 years ago you were probably a much tighter crocheter and now you’re more loosey goosey, which is great! The same happened to me. The more comfortable I got with crochet, the looser my stitches. Going down a hook size will help with that
This was super simple to follow! Thank you! I made it with plarn and it turned out well. Just large!
Beautiful coaster. Why does it appear to tend to be kind of conical?
This is an amazing tutorial ✨ love this
Super clear instructions. Looks so beautiful and very simple to make. Thank you so much !!! ♥️
I'm so happy to hear that! You're so welcome! ❤️
Thank you 😊 this was a nice tutorial, very helpful
I love a good cup of herbal tea!,
Made a set of four for my daughter for her first apartment. She loved them and super easy. Great stash buster. My favorite summer drink is a dirty iced chai latte.
Thank you for this pattern…I’m making 200 / 250 coasters for a tea party for next year. I have added this to the list of patterns that I will be using. I love how the popcorns wrap themselves around the bottom of the cup. Thank you for sharing.
i don’t understand how to do it with my finger straight the whole time?
This pattern is sooooooo cute!! Made my first one 🌹🌹 can’t wait to make more!!
My favorite drink is an orange slush
Do you have this tutorial for left handed crochet? 😊
I made two of these coasters, and both turned out great! Great tutorial, very well explained.
💕🙂
I’ll place my cup of Ryze on this😊
Thank you so much this was very easy to do❤
And why isn’t it flat like it’s supposed to be?
It cups up slightly while you’re making it but once you add the popcorn stitches you can’t really tell. I love the way it turned out. It’s kinda like it’s giving your drink a little hug 🤗 But it lays pretty flat when you have a cup on top.
@@SigoniMacaroni If you just used a bigger hook, wouldn't it stop the cupping?
You explained everything so well! It was so easy to follow and so pretty in the end! Thank you!
how are you doing this with ur finger straight??
Hot tea with cream is my favorite
If I want to make it bigger, how do I do that!
i LOVE this video!!! really appreciate the free pdf pattern as well since i tend to count back how many stitches I've made to make sure that i haven't made a mistake... ive also been rly obsessed w iced coffee + iced tea wieeee
Absolutely! I’m so glad you like the pattern. I looove iced coffee too 😋
Can we make this without it becoming slightly puffy? Meaning it doesn't lay flat
You can try going up a hook size to see if that helps!
How do i make the coaster larger? (:
I'm fond of the energy drinks at Starbucks right now. I've got a cold one right now and will be making a cup cozie to go with this coaster.
I missed as a beginner how to start it..l
Anyway to not have the seam visible ?
Hello! Would like to make this coaster :) Are the stitches at the end called bobble stitch? :)
They are popcorn stitches 😊
Is there a pdf of the pattern available?
My favourite drink is root beer or if I have ice cream I’ll add it to make it a float! Amazing tutorial btw. I’m making plenty of sets for gifts!
I don’t do well with practicing just for the sake of practicing. I want to accomplish something. This was my first time ever trying to crochet and I made a coaster! Thank you for the really easy tutorial. Mine looks great and doesn’t look like a beginner made it. Took me maybe 3-4 hours (hard to estimate with kids interrupting lol) but I’m sure it’ll be easier next time since I won’t have to go back and replay certain parts over and over again and slow down the video 😅
My first completed project! Not sure if I used wrong weight yarn but with the puff stitches it wouldve turned out more like a trivet so I omitted them. Very informative but definitely would have appreciated a slower and clearer explanation of which stitch you were going in. I pretty much guessed on every slip stitch to connect the circle, and we can't see what hole or stitch you are going in. Im sure its obvious to most but as a beginner I was super confused and it was extra challenging because of the guesswork I had to do
how many grams does one of these take?
Made it! It’s so pretty! Thank you so much for explaining it so well.
One thing I struggled with was that the coaster kept curling into a bowl but a few strong pulls it was good.
I just started crocheting a few weeks ago and have tried so many other tutorials only to fail and frog them all, but this one is the first one that actually worked for me. I’m so proud of my first crochet coaster, thank you so much 🫶
my favorite drink is boba tea!
If I wanted to make this bigger to make matching placements how would I do this? Just repeat the pattern? Such a simple tutorial thank you!
It's kinda of confusing with the stitches. My favorite drink in the summer is any infused flavor water or smoothies as well.
I've just made this coaster design! I love it and so easy to follow. I did a magic circle instead, as I find it easier for me and better to tighten. I've never done the popcorn stitch before and the ruffle is great addition AND it sits flat on the back! Thanks 😊
😊 thank you ❤
And God bless you , I enjoy it so much specially the popcorn stitch 🍿
& Marry Christmas 🤍
I love this pattern. However mine came out more like a doily and much bigger than a coaster. I used 100% cotton Lily Sugar n cream and. 4.25mm hook. Also my project is curled a little bit. What did I do wrong? Thank you. What size in inches was one coaster supposed to be?
You really like calling the popcorn stitch a puff stitch. I'd like to try to make a set for my sister-in-law as she's getting married. About how long should it take to make these.
Gosh I know 🤦🏻♀️ I don’t know why I kept doing that lol. Each one took me a little under 30 minutes
8:50 You have 48 but i have 42…
Favorite drink unsweet icetea
I made my first one with this video, thank you! Fav drink Coffee and smoothies of coarse 🥰
What is the finished size in diameter
chai tea! thank you for this tutorial! made them for my college apartment
That's wonderful!
You’re a legend! Hope you have time to make placemats size on your next video, my favourite drink is lemon/lime/bitters with lots of ice very summer time from down under.
My favorite non-alcaholic beverage is TAZO chai latte concentrate mixed with coconut milk. ICED!
My favorite drink is sweet tea. I bring a thermos of it to work every day and I am making these so it isn't so loud when I set the thermos down each time.
Hi can i use dk cotton yarn😊
I just finished the first piece of my coaster. Thank you for this video, very clear and well explained.
Thank You. I haven't crocheted in a long time, so like I'm starting all over you made it very easy to get this project done.
I love to drink cold things, it's literally my life line. the problem when you buy too much Frappuccino's and bubble tea is that you dont have a single dime to afford one good looking coaster, and I'm a perfectionist so if i see a little bit of condensation on my drink i wipe it off immediately so I eventually have to stop my study session's for it and eventually lose motivation to do my school work. In conclusion Thank you so much for making this tutorial, my sister just asked me to also make her one for her coffee.
Thank u sooo much for this tutorial . It was so easy and I just made my first coaster . 🎉
i LOVEEEE this tutorial!!!! super easy to follow along and she gives great instructions!!! thank you so much
Lol, that's funny, I am such a beginner that I actually said to my husband " honey I just learned a new way to do a puff stitch" lol. I was just going along with it but I kept thinking that I've never made a puff stitch like this.
