The story is telling you point blank that Hughie is the one with the problem and what that problem is. Hughie feels weak, feels compelled to compensate for that, and he chooses to make that Annie’s problem rather than communicate with her or listen to what she actually needs from him emotionally. He’s much more annoying than her in this situation. If he was really putting Annie first he’d stop her from throwing herself into danger, yes, but he’d be doing it by working WITH her and not worrying about appearing “strong” to her.

The fact that Hughie is weaker lies on the surface, we were literally shown how he cannot open a jar. So I think that he himself thinks that the reason why he wants to seem strong Infront of Starlight is because "He is a man, and a man should be stronger than his girlfriend." But in fact, that trauma after the death of his girlfriend affected him so much, and it's so deeply rooted in him, that he himself does not even understand that it affects him and his decisions to this day. That is why he constantly repeats "I just want to save you." Hughie wants to save Starlight not because he's a sexist and thinks every girl needs to be saved like Princess Peach (that's probably what Starlight thinks), but because he couldn't save his previous girlfriend. That's why in this episode he hit A-Train even after he apologized. Sometimes what the characters themselves say is not important at all, what is important is what the writer is trying to convey.

Homelander was going to kill Soldier Boy, someone that is described as being nearly as strong as Homelander and Butcher with powers that is a mini Homelander, he was going to kill both of them till Hughie got there and they were able to pin him down a little bit. A lot of people aren’t giving Homelander credit.

I don’t know if Maeve trained him when they were together but I think Noir did it. If you have seen the last Diabolical episode (the animated series, that episode is canon) him and Noir are more close, we saw it in this episode too so maybe Noir trained him. And you know what’s crazy? Homelander can take them really high and drop them, easy…but I guess the characters needs some plot armor because he would’ve killed them easily if he did that.

Jensen Ackles has literally been amazing since he was a teen. And yes his voice is amazing. Him as Dean in supernatural was great as well, another story about two brothers if you guys decide to check it out 😆
Soldier Boy just nuked so he lost some strength. And when he lets the nuke out everyone starts to weaken, so technically Butcher and SB were weaker and HL came post blast. As we see in the end - SB took on everyone and basically kicked ass
A-Train was a dick, but he went out like a real man. Making a heartfelt apology to Hughie, feeling remorse and avenging his brother completed his storyarch perfectly. RIP bra!
