I use to have a ortofon vms 20 then 30 which I did enjoy ,but moving to a 2m black is the best I have heard with great detail & all albums washed on a okki nokki disc wash ,arm is raised with rega spacers on my RB 300 arm . 😊
I use an sme 3009 arm which has height adjustment and they use a clever method to achieve this. I'm using one of the latest goldring cartridges, the e3 and it also has a deep body. I have it perfectly parallel to the record surface and it tracks and sounds fantastic for the price. The only thing that is a slight problem is when using the ceuing lift it only clears the record by a couple of millimetres. I have no experience of the latest ortofon cartridges but never enjoyed the early models, preferring AT or Goldring . Shure cartridges tracked beautifully but could also sound bright in the wrong system. Enjoy your video's.
If mounting a cartridge with open mounting holes I setup one bolt & nut bring the two together, tightening the nut enough to hold the cartridge in place and then fit the second bolt.
Yes I've never owned a rega tonearm except the arm I have at the moment which is a modified version of RB300 and does VTA adjustment. I understand Rega's arguement for not having VTA adjustment, and of course it isn't a problem, so long as your happy only using rega cartridges. Mmm.
Yes everybody bought a VMS it's all those mags lol it's about time they made the body the same height as other manufactures great honest review as ever !
Thanks, perfect timing as I'm looking at upgrading my Elys 2 on my P3, I did have concerns about using spacers but now there is an increased choice of Rega fit cartridges available that don't require a spacer. Now what's it to be a 2MR Bronze or Black, or maybe go Rega with the Exact?
I’ve always had the impression REGA have always maintained their standpoint is because they can’t be bothered in making a new arm as all of their arms are just variations on the same theme?
I'm slightly confused and may be missing something. I have a 2M Bronze on a Michell Tecnoarm 2 (which is of course a reworked Rega) mounted onto my Michell Giro SE. With the base plate turned out to its max the arm is perfectly parallel to a 180 vinyl on the platter and will romp thru the test grooves of an HFS 75 test record at 1.6g pressure. Having watched the video I should be encountering issues................??
I just raise the tone-arm on my technics to compensate for the height of my 2m Black Org.

Very interesting.
Good review. I guess why would i trade an exact2 for a 2Rblack?

I have never used a Rega cartridge in any Rega arm or similar. I had to check the size before though

I've got 1 of those VMS 30's along with an MC10 Super hiding away somewhere but I thought the VMS 30 sounded ok when I listened to it in the 80's lol

What did you decide? I'm in the same decision making process for my Planar 3 with a 90s Elys 1 cart.
@@ABHORRANCE831 I went Exact, a nice upgrade and easy to fit.

You skipped the OM and Super OM series 10,20,30,40. These came out before the 2M series.

Rega arm on a Gyro, probably different geometry. I have a Quintet Blue on my Gyro and it fits fine.
REGA without VTA…
I hate the 2m
Red and blue
Could you stop moving the cartridges about so much so I can get a better look at them, thanks.
Yawn
A quick google search would be a bit easier don't you think?
