Just drove to LA just last week and the entire distance from Sacramento to the greatvine is all smoke you can hardly see the mountain range to your right

Good job not hogging the left lane. I-5, I-10 and the 101 are the only freeways with two lanes and it should be that way. The cities/regions extending the lanes only creates congestion.

It's not smog, it's the marine layer from the ocean. Typical summer coast weather. Smog does not form in the morning as it's not hot enough to create smog. Many people make that mistake. I lived in Orange County and most of the smog in the afternoon stays mostly in the L.A. basin and inland empire. I actually breathed much better living near the coast and had no allergies until I left.
So, YOU are that other driver in CA that knows how to use the passing lane!!! :) I've made this drive MANY times and it REALLY sucks unless you gots the good beats.

I wonder why you decided to take the I-5. Was it traffic? Time constraints? Another video exists with the 99 in it?

However, much like I-15 is between Barstow and Las Vegas, I-5 gets heavily congested between Wheeler Ridge (where CA-99 splits from I-5) and the I-205 merge near Stockton because there simply isn't enough lanes to handle all the traffic trying to bypass the bigger cities, especially the truck and agricultural traffic, and so that part of I-5 needs to be widened to at least three lanes per side (like the I-5 alignment from Irvine to near Los Angeles was until the reconstruction, which still hasn't been completed), if not four lanes per side to handle all the traffic between Wheeler Ridge and Stockton.
Upeedina Lamb 99 is not much more populated or that much more scenic than I-5 it just that you pass by more small towns. Although, I'll have to see more videos on what driving up the 99 and 1 are like. The video going from L.A. To SAN Francisco driving up the 101 is my favorite so far. If I were going up to Sacramento I'd take the 5 or 99. However, if I were going up To SAN Francisco, Or more North closer to Oregon and the coast, I'd pick 101 Anyday.
Me and a buddy went camping out on the delta when we were younger. We stopped at a grocery store on charter way to grab supplies only to come back and find a homeless guy sleeping in our boat. 😨 we were coming from Sacramento and we had to exit charter way to get to the campsite
Many of the parents in Sacramento ignore traffic laws with their kids. May of these parents are civil servants. Youth in California deserve law-abiding, ethical and conscientious civil servants. Their future depends upon in. Let's double traffic fines in capital cities and see law-abiding streets and adults appear in Sacramento!
