Since when does the conductor/the person that should be directing them be part of the directed and join in therefore not directing and thinking they are more important of the directed? To every person that sang in this you are the most important.
This happens all the time. She isn’t acting like she most important, she’s doing choreography with the chorus. It’s a hallmark of a high level group when their director “isn’t needed”. You may not see all other directors dancing with their chorus, but sometimes they can’t dance like their front row (not the case here with world renowned choreographer Erin Howden as the heir director) or they choose to stand to the side. This happens ALL the time.

It is chorus driven and not director driven, and it’s a very advanced level when each member is directing from within and syncing up so beautifully with each other. Yes a director is not needed at that point, but they are more like a coach from behind the scenes, because they have done so much work and preparation behind the scenes where it looks like the director is doing nothing. I met Erin the director and she is absolutely wonderful. She brings a different level to performance and I am honored to have experienced that level of excellence first hand.
Fabulous!
So inspiring.
Congrats!
