I don't think that Chrysler needed help from Fiat to produce the most unreliable cars.
The worst thing about Start/Stop (besides the basic annoyance) is when your battery is dead, you jump start and begin on your way, BUT YOU FORGET TO TURN THE START/STOP OFF!!!!! And now, two miles down the road, you need a jump again after your vehicle "STOPS"!! Arrrrrrrrgggh!!
😂I’m sorry but that made me laugh.
That happened to me a few months ago! Sooo embarrassing and a pain in the ass.
You're right about old appliances. I have a Maytag washer from the 70's that still works great.
check your hoses our just exploded only 4 years old i think.
My grandma has had her washer and dryer and I always thought the switch board was blue. That was the protective film that you should take off once you get the appliances. That film has been on her washer and dryer for over a decade.
same. 1978, I believe. it's great!
Hoovie has upgraded his ride.
Yep, she's the best trade he's ever made.
The ex was a pain.
I haven't seen him for some time. Did he get divorced?
@@bryanphillips442 No, he just “fixed the glitch.”
Driving Towncars for a few years several of my clients owned BMW's. Most of them told me they would enjoy the car until about 50,000 miles and then get rid of it because after that point the maintenance became a real problem.
I bought BMW’s for 20 years for their performance, which was amazing, but they killed you on constant maintenance and pop up issues. Took a chance on a Tesla Model 3, have over 100kmi on it now with zero issues. Go figure.
Sad that some cars you just throw them in the garbage after warranty expires
You can't go wrong with a Panther Platform car
It seems to be a common thread here. All the electronics gizmos etc. I want a 1964 Malibu SS with 283 and a Powerglide!
This is why all of my vehicles are 20 yrs old or older.
Agreed
Buick series 3'(07) ftw!
I'm surprised the Mustang Mach-E isn't on that list. I used to work at a Ford dealership and we had about a quarter of our dealership lot full of Mach-E RAVs (reacquired vehicles) meaning they were so unreliable Ford bought them back from the customer.
Is it just me or does hoovie seem like a completely different guy. Like all these changes in his life led him to become his potential.
I will say that after driving for 45 yrs & owning many brands of vehicles the most unreliable ones I had were an '83 F150, '87 Turbo TBird, '86 Pontiac 6000, '88 Ford Taurus & '95 F150! Other than those the other 30-40 some odd vehicles were all great...miss all my Trans Ams ✌💖☮
Almost to 50k already. Nice job you two. Keep up the great work.
Well .... Volvo are not Swedish anymore! They are owned by Chinese state-owned giant Geely, hence the declining quaility. Volvo is just a name now, nothing to do with the old Volvos.
Aren't they still built in Sweden though?
I’ll say this, my mother always had volvo in the 90’s early 2000 and they were tanks. She the moved to mercedes and has been very happy with them, reliable and good cars. Recently she decided to give volvo another try with a fully loaded xc40. The car is extremely comfortable, well insulated and tech is good enough. Power is acceptable for such a car. However, she’s on her second year and the automatic boot is starting to make big noisy noises, the boot protector clip broke off, and some electrical gremlins have popped out recently. Nothing big enough but if it’s only 2 years in, imagine in 5-6
@@herbiehusker1889 some arent. The new EX30 is supposed to be built in China and another factory in Europe too
Still designed and built in Sweden. My V60T8 has been 100% reliable, so much so, I’ve ordered a Polestar.
Literally still swedish dude...
Great episode - I'm glad April called out her Lincoln LS ownership, that was an unexpected surprise! I owned 2 LS's (an '03 LS V8 Sport and an "04 LSE V8) and LOVED how those cars looked and drove - I bought them as used vehicles at the bottom of their respective depreciation curves, and therefore I did have to replace a transmission on one, along with the majority of plastic components on the cooling system on the other, so not entirely a trouble-free ownership experience on the back end. I enjoyed my LS's despite their flaws, even when it was time to give them up for more reliable replacements. I do credit both of those cars with beginning my journey into Lincoln ownership and I've since owned a 2014 MKZ Hybrid with the opening pano roof option (great car) and now a 2018 Continental Reserve 3.0TT (awesome car). I will also give credit to my LS ownership being a precursor to owning a platform-mate for a while as well, a 2005 Jaguar S-Type R that I saved from extinction for 2000 dollars with 178,000 miles and a ton of deferred maintenance. - Thankfully I was able to get it running and driving correctly after a tune up and transmission service. That car drove amazing and the supercharger whine was sensational, and it handled extremely well on country backroads - I do regret selling it sometimes. Maybe I'll find another example in the future that is less broken with less miles. Great channel!
The LS was my sons first car because it was the cheaper BMW clone. Bought it with 100k miles and soon found the transmission would get stuck in 3rd gear. Dealers said the LS uses internals with aluminum which makes the narrow passages wear much faster and is non repairable. Replacement was of course more than the value of the car. An expensive lesson for a first car.
These are very dangerous situations if a vehicle won’t move in traffic when you need it too. Disable auto stop/start!!
Thanks again, Love the content. Nice cut in photos of the cars during the video.
With vw the rear brakes wear out fast bc of the adaptive cruise control. If you used that function, it will wear only the rears as whenever it auto brakes in traffic it needs to keep the front end from dipping so it uses the rear.
Interesting.
They also admitted with the brakes on our 2022 VWs that they used lower quality brake pads. So my first set lasted 8000 mi and my second set is it 30k
Many cars today also use the rear brakes for traction and stability control.
I think we need to recreate April's ticket in Arizona using the countach and a one piece satin jumper like cannonball
On my third Nissan Leaf. Now have a 2023 Leaf Plus. This morning after charging last night estimator was 235 miles. I drive short range but have an ICE for long trips. Love the Leafs. Practically maintenance free: wiper blades, one 12 volt battery, one under seat fastner, one silicon tube to seal right front door runner gasket and one new tire total stuff for all three Leafs! My first one was a 2017. Why three? I bought up for longer range. Very much recommend but only for short distance driving.
What a great addition to the channel and you April what a catch keep the great content coming it’s proper cheers
Fun video. I like your detailed explanations as to WHY the specific vehicles are rated as unreliable. Of course, no surprise that Ford & Nissan have transmission issues (ongoing forever!), or that new start-ups live Rivian have major issues, or that the German cars are unreliable. But... good to see all these axioms are proven yet again
Yeah. Rivian and Aptera are my current dream cars but I won’t buy anything until it’s been out a few years and they can work out the bugs. I don’t hold this against them. They’re still great. That just happens with any new car or new technology.
In 2003 when the G36 Debuted they had crazy wear issues, I remember a kid bringing in a 4 door with 12k on it front brakes shot, his dad was so mad, and a few months later a campaign came out and we did front and rotors all day for a year. I saw Isuzu 3.5's replacing motors at the same pace...
I real never thought I would enjoy you and a talk about cars. Yet, I really did enjoy this video.
Price goes up, quality goes down. The modern American standard.
Got that rite!
Profits go up though. Just think of the shareholders!
Welcome to capitalism. It’s not about the consumer. It’s all about the corporation and how much money they can make.
Planned obsolescence.
Great video as always. Besides cars, would love to see you cover more geeky stuff and see you uncover your geeky side. Maybe more sci-fi stuff or even why April loves.😀
My nephew had a Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid. The battery caught fire in his garage and burned his house down.
April has cars that seem to like her. I have cars like that also. Cars that take care of their owners until the end. They stay on the road until the last mile before I get rid of it, Then, No Warranty. You guy have a good formula of just enough information. I don't get bored with the content and moving on to the next is very nice. Great show and I hate morning shows.
Got out of a 120mph? Must be nice to be smoking hot 😉
hell yeah
I have a 2017 Chrysler Pacifica. I've replaced tires at 80000 miles. I've replaced breaks at a 130000 miles. And now I'm fixing to replac evap canister. And oil filter housing at a 175000 miles. And I also own a 2012 Chrysler. 300 S all well drive every place. Tires at a 110000 miles in breaks at like a 120000 miles, and a car has a 165000 miles on it, still going strong. But we do regular maintenance on oil changes. Stuff like that keep a nice and clean. So no rust issues pop-up.
a lot of companies add more rear brake pressure to help prevent nose diving upon hard braking. My wife's 2013 CRV has that same issue
I’m surprised that a Chevy wasn’t on the list. My 2019 Tahoe should be.
New trans at 80k miles and now rear main seal at 110k miles.
I use it for long distance travel and have been religious about maintenance and oil changes.
No more GMs for me. I’m trading it off this week.
My Ram is getting a 3rd trans at 68k, and has blown 2 rear mains
I've got a Rivian R1T Launch Edition with the quad motor setup . I've now driven over 20K and never had an electrical issue (knocks on wood very hard). I even off road it quite a bit. What I'm kinda surprised by is that CR didn't mention the powered tonneau covers. Those have a nearly 100% failure rate. From what I've been seeing on the Rivian forums, the motor problems impacted early production trucks and have since been corrected.
Work on that stock price, bro.
i had a great deal lined up for a new pacifica hybrid. The day before picking it up they had to tell me it was completely broken (Charging system) and it could not be sold. Ended up with a Kia Carnival instead. The pacifica was a lot cheaper with tax credits and everything but im glad it was DOA and we were not able to buy it.
Hoovie is awesome and on the ball with conversation. He's kind of like Conan with how he has funny responses to everything. A podcast was definitely the right next move.
At least Stelantis leads the industry in one category: Crap cars. Bravo!
I had a 2007 650i, one of the most fun, fast cars I have had and mine was very reliable. However, the rear wheels were wider than the fronts so you could NOT rotate the tires. I wasn't doing burnouts at all and I would only get 15-20,000 miles MAX on those expensive FAT Michelins as well!!
Was getting coolant work done on my truck the other day, while waiting, guy came in wanting 4 new tires, $1000+ worth in new rubber but didn't want to spend the $90 alignment fee. I get that people dont think its worth it, but youre spending a crap load on new tires, spend a tiny bit more and have it covered under their 1yr alignment warrantee, which they urge you to come in on day 350 to get it redone under the warranty lol
I love the blooper reals at the end of the videos, you need to make them a little longer tho, LOL
To your comment on the BMW, I’ve had two Jaguar XJ6’s. I used to joke that if I drove within a mile of the jaguar dealer’s service center they would automatically take a thousand $$ out of my bank account. It sure felt that way.
I see that Audi is just #19. I purchased a 2014 A6 2.0t in late 16 with 53k miles. It was a Lease turn in. It now has 180k miles.
So far, I replaced L+R Motor Mounts, 1 Water pump with Thermostat, 1 brake job, 2 set of spark plugs and coils, 2 air filters. And an oil change every 5k miles.
Audi Quattro, best AWD system in the business and I get 29-33mpg on 87
A couple of days ago driving through .Cornelius, Oregon a Rivian Service vehicle turned in front of us. Licensed in British Columbia, Canada, it is the same delivery vehicle Rivian is building for Amazon. Apparently if you have a Rivian with a problem they will come to you.
I had a 2018 Volvo for 3 months...that's all I could manage. Sadly most of the electrics are Chinese (Volvo is basically Chinese now) and parts are made all over the place, so it must be difficult to keep check of quality.
A lot of cars have Chinese electrics though so I'm not surprised by the issues. I've now got an older car with not so many emissions controls and it's been very reliable...thanks Jaguar.
On the wrangler, going through a puddle might not just fry sway bar module, can even fry Powertrain and Transmission computers too
I think we all know what we expected on the list but we might understand why Tyler didn't bring them up,....C'MON MAN! YA KNOW THE TRUCK? Yep, you guessed right!!!
It's the Ford Lightning which is probably the worst on the entire list but he's probably already got a pending deprivation/slander of product lawsuit against him for talking about that vehicle anymore on his *'Towing for Only Fans Channel'* LOL!!!
P.S.
Just in case you've never seen a OMINOUS Ford Lightning in person, go to any Ford dealership in the entire country and look in the overflow backlot for the dustiest dozen of Trucks with Frunk that are such JUNK they will probably be some of the 1st production vehicles to go straight from Dealerships to the Crusher before the end of their debut model year.....not joking.😮
The perfect 2nd vehicle for these is a roll back...
Good morning in our dark room we are filming in that looks nothing like morning.....
I enjoy everything about this channel. I think Hoovie is great I watched Hoovie’s Garage for years. I am so happy for both of you. Both of you seem to be perfect together!
In my opinion, Sadly German car manufacturers stopt make cars reliable and bulletproof, because their main business new days are replacement parts. Actually 99% of companies does that. Parts and services bringing in more money than actual cars by itself. 😂 Correct me, if my idea is wrong.
*Stellantis.
When MB bought Chrysler I predicted that Merc would get worse and Chrysler would get better. That happened for the most part and then they were sold to Fiat. It went down hill from there and I don't see it getting better under Stellantis.
Another Captain Obvious 😊
The Lincoln LS is a beautiful car. No complaints with the engine or transmission. It’s the interior Barry cheaply made too much plastic. You can look at it. It’ll break just too cheap on the inside but beautiful on the outside.
Our LS transmission got stuck in 3rd gear just past 100k miles. The internals are made of aluminum and wear much quicker. Non repairable, replacement costs were more than the car.
Lincoln Ls with the v8 are awesome, comfortable and reliable, they also shift very smooth!
Watch out for the transmission past 100k, ours suddenly stayed in 3rd gear and was non repairable. Replacement cost more than the value of the car.
@@aussie2uGAHow often did you do a complete fluid change with new filter? Not just a drop pan and refill, but bleed all the old fluid out.
I had a 1994 Chevy S10 4x4 in 1994 and the brakes lasted as long as the next oil change. Something to do with the new anti lock braking system at the time which also was horrible. It would kick your foot off the brakes. Chevy told me I drove the car too much. 😂
I can agree on that. I still have my 93 S-10 4x4 four door. And I'm lucky to get 15k out of the front brakes.. it's been very reliable though maybe because it only has 109K miles on it. But I do 90 % of the work on it and it's been in the garage for over 3/4's of it's lifetime. Company car and motorcycle. Is why the mileage is so low.
I had that front end wobble on a '73 CJ5 that I owned 40 years ago! WTF all that needed was a new stabilizer. I tunk it cost me $40 in 1983(Which was a lot of money for a high school kid). $20 would fill your tank!
E53 negative rear camber is no joke! My 04 has 150k miles and it is excessive. I'm sure it needs bushings and I will get to it eventually, but even brand new they had a lot of negative camber in the rear.
Agree. It taught me about camber and how to say “add +2” when you align the rear…
Look forward to you getting the Cybertruck.
If April develops a Kansas drawl, it would be very cute
Did April just shame Tyler by knowing that the founder of Toyota was actually named Toyoda?😂 True fact
Akio Toyoda *may* have had a connection or two at the company before he interviewed there
@@11sfr Akio Toyoda is great grand son of Sakichi Toyoda founder of Toyoda company, and grand son of Kiichiro Toyoda that changed Toyoda company to Toyota Motor Corporation and his father is Shoichiro Toyoda and his son Daisuke Toyoda will be the next in the line in company!
And first car in 50s in was TOYOPET???
@user-ht1xu4gv2u Toyopet was more of a sub-brand used on Toyota's smaller and smallish cars from 1947 to the late '50s, and was used on the Crown in the US because it was seen as easy to pronounce and also friendly sounding post-WWII. Toyota's first car was the Toyota AA in 1936
@@robscafidi4070 so bad was the hate to the japenese cars n had a 59 parked overnite

Nissan Trucks are known for the Dreeded Pink Foam Transmission problem.
The coolent gets into the transmission thru the radiator, and it's new transmission time.
Nissan thinks because it only happens to 1 in 50 trucks, it's not a problem.
The Swedish isn't Swedish anymore it is Geely as in Chinese Tech
They're build in Sweden. They are swedish....
@@bennytdi The only Swedish Volvo sold in the US is the V90 wagon, the C40/XC40, EX30, and V60 are built in Belgium, the S60 and EX90 are built in South Carolina, and the S90 is built in China. Over at Polestar, the Polestar 2 is from China, but the upcoming Polestar 3 will be built in South Carolina.
@@11sfr so they're assembled in the States and then shipped to Sweden for the Swedish Delivery? then Shipped back?

Great video and review. I must say, Hoovie, April has got you looking good and you seem more confident. April is wearing off on you.
April and Hoovie's PSA for the day! 😁
Not a Land Rover in sight! Yay! I love my Disco 4.
Cybertruck is out, just need to wait your line in the list.
I had a 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee that had multiple issues that the dealer could never figure out. Passenger window would roll down by itself repeatedly on trips, sunroof would not close and had to completely turn it off and back on to get it to work, gauges would just stop working then come back on randomly AND, the 5.7 HEMI would blow blue smoke on startup every so often. Dumped it obviously. Dealer and Jeep could not reconcile any of those issues. Garbage... Now a proud Toyota owner.
It is quite funny when April says that it will be a learning curve with electric cars. The first electric car actually came to be at the end of the 1800`s. By the way, guys. Great uplaod and great channel 🙂 Best regards from a car detailer in Norway.
Hoovie taking a page out of so many successful RUclips channel’s books. Get a hot girl, put her in all the thumbnails, boom success! eg. Sailing Lavegabond, Shangerdanger.
Love it Hoovie! Keep up the great work
Jake - how about taking the Mac to a vinyl shop and getting a black satin wrap? It's very obnoxious in front (twice, with the reflection)!
Jeep and electrical problems has been going on for decades. Not shocked at all.
💯 exactly why mines gone
I have a wrangler tj, with various little electrical issues but at least it’s super easy to diagnose and fix unlike cars of today.
Hey, the F-150 Hybrid improved! In 2022 it had a score of 4.
LOL, my father in laws neighbor had a Grand Cherokee that would fail to restart at the lights. He made the dealer take it back after a cop stuck behind him at the lights gave him a ticket for $250 and ordered it off the road for being unsafe - 3 month old car ordered off the road for being unsafe! He replaced it with a Highlander.
Jatco supply most Nissan transmissions - they haven't been able to make a decent transmission (despite that being their main business) for at least 20 years - and they even make transmissions from other companies under license and manage to make them significantly less reliable than the OEM. Volvo are Chinese now so no surprise on the reliability figures there.
I stopped trusting Consumer Reports years ago.
Found the Jeep Wrangler owner
Alfa Romeo, also a Stellantis product, is near the top of that list. #justsaying
In Volkswagen Passat we replaced the brakes with ceramic aftermarket - they last 15 years.
I think most companies like Ford and Chevy use the 10 speed which had issues on the 2018 and newer f150s that's why I got a 2016 5.0l
It's a fiat based electrics and FIAT STANDS FOR FIX IT AGAIN TOMORROW
TODAY also fits
Feeble Italian Attempt at Transportation
Great Show Kids! 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 🎉
DEFECTS ARE NOT EXPECTED IN MY MIND, I HAVE A 2012 SIENNA XLE AND A 2016 LEXUS NX 200T, BOTH
ARE JUST ABOUT PERFECT, THE NX I TOOK FOR AN OIL CHANGE GOT INSPECTED WITH NOT 1 THING TO ADDRESS,
SO GO WITH TOYOTA MY FRIENDS AND AVOID ALL THESE PROBLEMS AND HEADACHES. SCOTTY APPROVES.
This tracks. The worst vehicles I've owned were made by Chrysler and Volkswagen. I currently own an old Town Car and an aging Highlander and I'm stress free!
My current daily driver is a 2002 Lincoln Town Car that I have had for more than 16 years. It's been the most reliable car that I have ever had.
I just drove it 815 miles from Maryland to Florida, and it is great on the highway, getting 24.7 miles per gallon.
It's too bad that Lincoln discontinued the Town Car after the 2011 model year.
Chrysler Pacifica EHybrid needed to reload a new software connected to battery fire recall in order everything to work just fine.
While charged to 55-60% the battery doesn't discharge at all during 2 weeks while parked in the garage. If the temperature is not too badly cold then a 100% charged battery allows 32 mile of full EV charge. I'm writing here the experience with a 2018 model. Yes air conditioning, cold, driving uphill will chew your battery. It charges the fastest of all PHEV batteries on level 2 - 6.6 kW.
the 2nd new truck i bought 83 toyota 4x4, blew the alternator at 3000 miles. the dealer said ahh you took it through water no warranty. this is when toyota commercials showed them climbing a mountain and many rivers, i was pissed. so i called toyota corporate and they fixed it, but i did notice the commercial's all changed shortly after that, not saying my call did that, but i bet i wasn't the only one.
I worked for a guy in the 90s that had a week old Cherokee limited burst into flames in front of a customers house.
I never liked riding in or being near it😅
I just rented a Pacifica PHEV to do an office move last week. The stupid regen braking doesn't work at all and the crash avoidance braking system failed (big red lights and text message on dash) and I had to be careful when it was -14C (6F) and icy.
11:22 so true!! AKA Samsung appliances
Just found this channel. Good to see you Hoovie!
My 2020 R-Line manual rear brakes are half gone in the rear after 27000 miles. It's the hill assist. It won't release on a certain angle...i feel like i am burning up the clutch.
Boo-Hoo on the Pacifica Hybrid. The ICE Pacifica is a fine, popular vehicle. I have a used 2020, I've put 11,000 more miles on it without any issues.
Commenting to help the algorithm because I hope you guys take off and do well.
Lincoln LS was Ford based.
Jaguar S type was built on the platform by Ford.
JLR is now owned by Tata who make tea bags.
Volkswagen always have issues with rear brakes. My mom's 2013 TDI goes through a set of rear calipers every 50,000 miles. With over 400,000 miles on it at the moment it's gone through around 8 sets of rear calipers. Maybe even more than that. They get stuck and drag the pads until they are worn out. The last time I fixed them I flushed out the brake fluid and replaced with Castrol SRF. So far those calipers have 75,000 miles on them and so far they haven't gotten stuck again so maybe the type of fluid was the issue the entire time.
Tyler, what are your thoughts on the 2023 Corolla hybrid ? I know it's not you're flavor of coffee but im asking anyway 😂
volvo the one that shocked me, cause these are fantastic cars, amazing infotainment. atleast it isnt the xc90 witch i really love, pacifica alternative is the honda odyseey witch is miles better
my old Volvo 850 turbo developed chronic seemingly unfixable problems as soon as it was out of warranty that only got worse with time.
No surprise Stellantis dominates this list. I bet that Pacifica hybrid is a complex mechanical nightmare.
April I’ve owned 2 LS’s you must have had a V6 because my 2000 V8 would do 143mph and my 2005 V8 was limited to 135 mph but not mine were decently reliable until I broke them
That Nissan Frontier transmission is a Mercedes-Benz 9-Speed G-Tronic made by Jatco for Nissan vehicles
While much more reliable, Toyota's CVT doesn't use gears and cogs, but it does have a single "launch gear" which is a true first gear. It then switches to a chain driven CVT setup beyond first gear.. regardless of being a "lifetime" fluid or not, it should still be changed regularly
Most unreliable car I owned was an '84 Camaro Z28 with the High Output motor and manual trans. I bought it new and it broke down that evening. It took the dealer over a week to fix it, but it had design problems with the engine and transmission and was a constant headache. A month after I traded it in I heard back from the dealer that the engine had blown. I have had friends and coworkers who bought GM vehicles in the '80s and most had reliability problems too.
With the exception of an automatic, I had the exact same Camaro! I bought it used in '90(?) and I loved it! Fully loaded with the HO engine.
Th brakes on the VW is not just limited to the Jetta. I had 2018 Tiguan and had to replace the rotors at about 15000 miles and on my 2021 Arteon, I had to replace the rotors and brake pads at 16000 miles
Are you following Edison Motors, a Canadian DieselEV logging semi-truck?
It would be cool for you to explain to the audience the difference between a hybrid drive vehicle (like most Prius that dont plug in) and a fully Electric EV with range extender (like the Volt) and a battery EV (like a Tesla) and now DieselEV (like Topsy by Edison Motors, Trains, Ships, Etc)
So many people confuse the difference.
GasolineEV seems like the new Dodge Ram seems incredible. Torque of a TRUE EV, with the Convenience and range of a gas-powered hybrid, but it's not a hybrid.
A hybrid has the engine connected to the wheels, whereas a range extended EV, the gas engine only goes to the battery, or electric motors. It is a true EV.
you are describing the difference between parallel hybrid and serial hybrid for "true ev". The Ramcharger appears to be serial hybrid. Kinda like the i3 REX
Interesting about the VW Jetta and rear brakes. My rarely driven 2018 GOLF R was just in for it's 10k first service and guess what? rear brake pads were rwice as worn as the fronts. Why?
We have a 2018 Jetta with 122000 on the original brakes 4:43
What about the Wagoneer… Ours has been horrible with issues since day one.
