The looks don’t matter. What matters is that they are useful and serve a purpose!

Love the style of the boss and method used. Hope there is enough footage here for me to go back and try to duplicate. Really nice job. Your striker is very skilled at his job.

Very interesting way you made the tongs....I have seen where the smiths split out the reins, but I have never seen the boss and jaws made by fullering out the steel rod rather than doing the three set-downs to form them. Very unique way to do that.
BTW, I have been intrigued by the hold-down you have on your wooden beam; the one where you wedge flat pieces under the steel hoop with wooden wedges. I couldn't resist it, so I made one today to set into a piece of railroad tie. Hope it works as well as your's does.

Oh good, the comments are back on now...
Very unique way of using the flatter tool to make the boss for the hinge.... Clean sharp mating surfaces...
I see you dont have a sharp corner on your anvil to make this edge on the blank, but you way works better.
    Hinges perfect...
Most unusual to cut the reins from the bar, but it is the best way to get most out of the piece of that size....
Others would have just used 2 pieces of rebar to make a set of tongs....
Id like to see you make a parang or golok with a cool wood sheath......
    Nice work and stay safe....

He needs a proper adjustable work stand so he doesn’t have to stack buckets to hold it in the fire. Nice tongs
