Nice choices. Proves “go the distance guns don’t have to be new or tacticool: 22-250 small, but that’s not all (range with decent power); old design does mean useless - .36 cal rifle, Uberti revolver, and open top can all get the job done; and theGP100 .44 Special for everything in between! And best of all if we loose access to most semi-autos, you will still have yours! My choices start with .357 S&W L frame backed up by Ruger LCR in .357 - heavy and light combo; .270 Win Howa 1500 with Scope - distance; Rounded out with Rossi .45 Colt R92 lever action teamed with the 7.5” Ruger Blackhawk for everything else. Thanks Garrett.
I was waiting for you to mention that open top in .45 Colt. I never get tired of hearing the story of how you received it and what it has meant to you over the years. Maybe as Ruger-Marlin expands their lineup, you'll see just the lever gun you need. I hear they're expensive guns but genuinely some of the best Marlins ever. That, or some old piece from the 70s or 80s will grab you at a show! I hope you guys can continue some on this channel. It's one of the few that I recommend without reservation and turn on notifications for. The group of people that you collaborate with has been really great. And we all want more Handguns of Colt! And flint/match/wheel locks!!! Anyway, the easy first mention on my list is the CZ452 "Ultra Lux" .22LR bolt-action with 28.6" barrel, tangent rear sight, and hooded front like a rifle from the World Wars. It was from my dad and it is never, ever leaving the collection. It perfectly complements my vintage bolt action collection. Also on the list is the S&W 617 10-shot .22LR revolver, 4" barrel. Pretty much my holy grail of .22 pistols. And something that will just about last forever. My defensive pistol has been a cocked and locked HK45. A tested accurate and durable gun with all drop-in parts. Suppressed it is very pleasant to shoot without hearing protection. My compromise with modernity. But maybe I'll go to a 3" .357 or .44 as my tastes continue to skew...older, ha. Centerfire revolver (leaving percussion out): in the absense of any single actions, the 5" 629 "classic" is a pistol that I trust to do anything I ask of it, at least on this continent. There's just something about the 5" barrel on modern revolvers. Single-action: to be determined. All I have is an Uberti Remington Army 8". A lever gun or centerfire bolt-action I dont quite think I've found yet. Maybe something in 6.5 Swedish or 6.5 Creedmoor in the future. Tikka? The lever could be a .44 magnum Marlin when their blued octagon barrel type comes back or perhaps a .44-40 1873. Shotgun: I always dreamed of a nice sporting double (external hammers, of course) to shoot paper shells from. When I build Kibler's 16 gauge fowler, it might change my mind. That, or end up being the old-school ancestor that still makes smoke with the younger cartridge rascals like the Mossberg 590A1 with 20" heavy barrel (combat shotgun, baby!). Thank you.
My Lee Enfield No.1 MK.III 22 trainer made in 1914 my dad bought me in 1965. My Dad's Colt 1911 made in 1916 and a flat latch S&W 36 Chief also my dad's. My 1873 lever action Uberti. My Uberti 1860 Army conversion in 44 Colt and the 1872 open top in 45 colt are my for ever guns
Id say that I've about got my little collection down to things I aim to keep...so I'd have a hard time figuring what's tops in it. That Ruger Police Service Six.357 I traded for my 4" Model 57 back the other day was the only thing I wasn't attached to. I'm just going to buy what I want that's reasonable, from here on out, and try not to let go of anything else.
.41 Colt SAA cira 1903. Was my dad's gun. It takes SPP, black powder and nice 200 gr flat nosed bullet. All my handguns take SPP so I don't want to have to stock pile LPP as well.
H&R 676 buntline 22 has dispatched thousands of critters on my trap line. 54 cva hawker has won me more trophies than I can count. 54 Lyman deerstalker is the best deer gun ever. Mossberg bolt action 410. It was my first gun, and trust me, I know how to use it.👍
I’ve got an old TC New Englander .50 that Bob Hoyt bored out to .54 with a round radius slow twist rifling. It’s going the distance, cloverleafs with the proper load.👍
@@sicsempertyrannis4104 Yep I had two Bobby Hoyt barrels on my 1841 Mississippi and my 1861 Springfield. Sold them both after I'd been off work for a year after a vehicle accident.
I was just thinking about this since ive sold a few recently that i liked but just weren't tickling my fancy. Here's a few that i absolutely will not part with. 1972 ruger blackhawk. 45c 4 5/8 barrel. 50th anniversary model ruger single six .22lr/.22mag 4 5/8 barrel. My parents gave it to me for Christmas when i was 20. Chinese sks made in 1972. It always runs smooth and i can hit bolling pins at 300yrds. Had it since i was a kid. Stoger uplander 12g sxs. 1953 Ithaca featherlight 12g 29 in barrel. Theres a couple others but those are the real special ones.
I have always enjoyed your vids and will click on em just cause your handle is on em. Don't always agree 100% with you on every detail. At this point and age I have trimmed my collection of shooters down to around a dozen that I would never get rid of... sometimes it is they are so accurate and fun.. sometimes cause they historical.. sometimes like my 1969 Python it is cool factor and beauty and accuracy... sometimes it is just something I can carry no matter what and is better than others in the class like my Beretta 980 in 25 acp (yeah I know) and also my 340 PD in .357 which is the most concealable and powerful and accurate and... the worst recoiling handgun I own but not a factor. Lately I have built from a kit a Hawkins 50 and it is amazing. I also have 4 black powder Colt clone revolvers 31...36 and 44 I hand polished em and nickel plated em at home (easy to do but somewhat steep learning process) Lever guns.... well... My Henry color case in .357 is gorgeous and accurate.. My old 50+ years old? 1873 Navy arms Winchester clone with 30" barrel and pistol grip in 44-40 Shotguns? I am the worlds worst shotgun shooter...can't hit anything with em but I have several that I like.. my 97 riot gun made in 1920? and my Browning/Remington hump back 12
That really caused me to think about my GTD weapon. I think it would be my Cimarron Thunderer (my carry weapon) in 44 Spl., the Ruger Vaquero in 45 Colt, the Cimarron 1886 45-70 and my Uzi Model A 9mm.
A Henry .357Mag Big Boy steel carbine with the large lever loop. I simply can't miss at 100 yards or less with that gun. The gun has plenty of faults. But accuracy is not one of the them. Either that or my Pedersoli Indian Trade Musket. Simply can't miss.
So glad to know another Open Top enthusiast.
You and me both!

Good morning from Alaska everyone. May God bless you all.
good morning
Uberti 1873 peacemaker in 32-20 Winchester and a circa 1906 1892 Winchester 32-20!!
good choices
Good video. I have several guns that will go the distance. Maybe I’ll do a video reply soon sharing them.
awsome i look forward to it
Oh, Y'all know I gotta do my own version of this video. Probably gonna work on it when I get home from work 😅
Thanks, love the video . Blessings

Great video interesting topic. Are there any guns that you have sold or traded off that you really regret doing after the fact
yes sir. my first 73 trapdoor and a sweet little rolling block carbine in 45-70. miss them everyday
When are you doing a live stream? It's been too long.
i hope to do one within the next week. It's hard to get all my guys together this time of year.Everybody's got stuff going on
Do you have a 86 Winchester? If you ever get one you might like it well enough to keep forever and always. They are great!
no i do not. both ot and the 76 are on the list
My go the distance guns. Is my 45 lc my M1 Grand. My 50 cal muzzleloader called the Blue Ridge Mountain Refle.David Back.
1887 winchester lever shotgun??
It's kind of janky but it's cool as heck
that would be a good go the distance gun
Good if original. The Chinese repros are kinda crappy by comparison, imo, and i own both.

Ruger Bearcat 22 LR. S&W Model 36-3” 38 Taylor’s 7th Cavalry 45 Colt black powder frame.
