The only cars I can think of with drift mode are the awd Quattros and xdrives and that just makes it change from 50/50 to like 30/70 to make the back end actually kick out
if the skill is on that level, it might be true. Also it was wet, so the "damage" done to the track is way less than on a hot dry day. Depends on how much shit they already had to deal with that day

It being a road track is really the issue because it can be thrown into more grassy areas which is harder to clean and may negatively effect grass and landscape, but I could be wrong.

Since it's available to be used by anyone, it's condition should be respected. By all means, every road in existence will be slightly damaged - that's how it works, it wears away, but drifting only accelerates that process and damages a surface that should be used by everyone. Besides, the track has its rules.

It's banned on "normal" track days, because just like on the roads it's dangerous (actually a lot more). If you want to drift just sign up for a "drifting" track day. Then everyone is drifting, so it is a lot safer. Drifting is like cycling on a highway. It's dangerous to you and others. But if you make the highway "cycling only" for a day, it is perfectly safe to cycle.
Im not too sure if the nurburing has different tracks but i do know they host events there so yes it kinda is designated for drifting i mean it’s designed for any motor sport really

It's an added risk and it can scare other drivers. Drifting is usually also not allowed on any trackday and it is forbidden during TF. Sure the back can step out and you can catch it with a drift, but the BMW in this video is clearly doing it on purpose.
@@justincase9471 That BMW is definitely on drift mode. The torque literally goes to one wheel at the back depending on which way your steering wheel is pointing. It can even help to recover from a drift if the angle is too excessive.

Remember that technically this is a still a typical German road, therefore you have to follow many of the rules you’d see if you were driving on a typical road, one of them being drifting

Car with drift mode should be allowed. It’s really easy to drift and recover when drift mode is enabled. The car literally helps you.
