  • Join me as I take the first steps in getting this new Yamaha R1 ready for the race track!
In this video we strip the majority of standard road bodywork and parts off the bike that won't be needed and explain a few bits and pieces along the way.
    Thanks for watching 😁

The wiring of the R1 is really a work of art, but sadly it's not as crash resistant as the CBR1000RR is. You remove the side fairings of the CBR and you see nothing, everything is tucked nicely on top of the engine and airbox, it is nearly impossible to damage a connector or an ECU without getting the bike into a serious accident. My '18 CBR1000RR crashed on its left side, the only things needed to be changed were some fairings, a handlebar with clutch lever and a foot peg. Same crash on this R1 will cost at least double the amount of money to replace broken parts if not the ECU itself. Looking forward to watching this series till the end.

I’m curious , why don’t you have a hydraulic bench to get the bike up higher to make it easier on the old knees ?

Hi Desmo, I actually cover this in my introduction video if you'd like to take a look. I've worked in shops that do have them and I always found they got in the way more than anything else. It's just what I'm used to and prefer 😁👍
