I felt Miss Bergman should have been nominated for "Notorious" [1946] but I don't agree with her win for "Anastasia" [1956] - Deborah Kerr's performance has stood up quite well and she was exquisite and perfect as Anna. To think Miss Bergman has three and Miss Kerr never won [except for her Honorary Oscar where the Academy's Board of Governors voted wisely] doesn't quite seem to me to be fair.

Another great clip. And Simone, though nominated this year, did not show up. This clip could be considered her second--and last--Oscar appearance.
How about posting more of the following year? Would really love to see Irene Dunne's appearance. Thanks.

The key to great film acting is of course great editing and directing. The rest plays a part as well but they all support the bigger picture and that is scripting, editing and directing, maybe sound design as well, and maybe a decent actor at best. Once an 'film' actor, not theater actors, understand this, they will fully utilize their full potential and take advantage of on-screen awareness so the editors will make best use of it..

Some general thoughts regarding the Oscar winners interviewed here: Patricia Neal, who won best actress for her role in Martin Ritt's "Hud" should have been nominated and won for her performance in Kazan's "A Face In The Crowd". I prefer Jack Lemmon's work in Wilder's "Some Like It Hot" and Edwards' "Days Of Wine And Roses" to the performances he won for in "Mister Roberts" and "Save The Tiger". I also prefer Simone Signoret's understated work in Kramer's "Ship Of Fools" to her work in Clayton's "Room At The Top". David Niven is charming and excellent in everything, however, I preferred Andy Griffith's work in Kazan's "A Face In The Crowd" to Niven's role in "Separate Tables".

there is really no reason to watch the modern oscars anymore they cannot compete with classic Hollywood Hollywood doesn't care about its products or its star's they are just about the business deal and the various financial tie ins a nd hookups. as far as i am concerned Hollywood and all that it involves? is now in the hands of RUclips thank god for that

Very sad that Hollywood have lost their Holy Spirit.
I cried in heart and the tears run down my cheeks and I went sooo touched at home. Happy and good feeling...What a time...at that time
I grew up in the 1950th...
