I hear you but when your “work” is not in alignment with your soul and instead is depleting and oblivious to the needs of your body there is indeed stress and this stress can mean it’s time to move on and find a better fit and a more resonant way to serve. To ignore this and force alignment is to ignore a deeper knowing and guidance being sent from your body and often your heart. The courage to leap is often more valuable than the force to make it right. 🙏 be true be free.

I was just about to post what you have posted here. This talk suggests (or can be interpreted) that you can and should make peace with any situation. What if that situation is toxic and abusive?

    • @anobody4464
      @anobody4464 Год назад

      @@zahrashahabinezhadlet's take an example.
Suppose,, You are ugly. Your face is really ugly. You ha e a SEVERE cystic acne condition. All over the face.
But you've been conditioned by media to look like Natalie Portman.
And you're crying over that fact(there are many people doing that).
You WANT to look very pretty. But you've been born that way. And you're poor too.. Don't have the money for surgery either.
What would you do? Some may get severely depressed. Some may even contemplate suicide.. And so on.
Which is really a way out?
There are situations. Which are not very controllable all the time.
Because the Universe marches on its own laws.
You and me are but a visitor for a few days. We'll be gone soon. We can't change the Way. Of the Intelligence.
Hence Acceptance should always be the top priority.
If you break free of the conditioning -- the goal of yoga -- you'd realise your state of joy is IRRESPECTIVE of any outer situation but a state of inner being.
Of course there are tough situation like the one mentioned above.
But what if there's nothing you can do about it?
      Acceptance. And letting go.
And what of you CAN do something about it?
      Acceptance again.
You can deal with it BETTER if you accept it first.
And work it out from a state of joy within. Rather than a state of compulsive urge to solve it.. With an agitated mind. The solution won't be as effective.

My case is the epitome of what stress and burnout can do to disrupt inner peace. After beginning my meditation practice, things have definitely improved. HOWEVER, after learning about Mickey Singer and his teachings, I can undoubtedly say that everything this man has to share is 100% true. Follow Mickey's advice and a profound inner peace that many can only dream of will become a reality for you in time. Thank you immensely for all you do, MS!! Namaste to all🙏❤.

He, more than any other teacher gave me the tools i desperately needed when I was in despair. I can’t believe how simple it is (simple is not the same as easy) to have a more peaceful and meaningful life.
Now - as soon as I feel tension, judgement, annoyance, etc I simply check in with myself with the intention to let it go. It works 100% of the time if I LET it. The times I don’t let it go are simply areas I still need to work on.
Love this man and his teachings!

  • @805hiker2

Singer's teachings have really helped me but this one...this is probably the only one I would disagree with in some or most cases. I tried for so long at a job that I felt out of place at. A job that gave me very poor training and expected unrealistic results. A job I can say I strongly disliked every day (hated is a strong word). A job that gave me daily headaches, poor sleep, and blood pressure of 170. I tried to stop resisting, relax, have gratitude, and just go with the flow. That got me written up for not going fast enough. When I felt that my health was suffering and the job was going to cause me some sort of major illness down the road, I decided to stop resisting in a different way. To stop resisting and let go of the inner voice telling me that quitting was bad, that grown ups don't just quit their jobs, that things would get better, that I should be more grateful, that people would talk about me, etc. I had saved up an emergency fund of about 9-12 months and even then it was scary but I did it. I quit having no other job lined up. I'm taking a few months off before I start looking for another job. I feel that I need to destress and clear my head before I get into something else. No regrets so far. Oh and my blood pressure is back down in the 120s!

I mean, I like Mickey's teachings and resonate with his books on most things, but I am not sure about this.
I surrendered in my previous workplace but the amount of work and the sitting still indoors had me so exhausted that I eventually got burned out anyways. I don't think we should just blindly accept anything.
Many things being upheld in this world is not for the highest good of all in my opinion and maybe we should not blindly serve anything at all without careful consideration.

I'd politely disagree. Stress doesn't arise from resistance. Suffering does.
Stress arises instead from the perceived gap between what we think is expected from us and what we feel capable of. Bridging the gap -either emotionally or cognitively, even spiritually with faith, is what helps with stress...

This is a wonderful and helpful video. My question is, “What if your job is pushing you beyond your limits-either physically, cognitively or both?” There are limits to what our bodies can do and what our minds can process. A task may be perfectly pleasant and you can enjoy the doing of it in the middle of the day, but what if the demands of your job require you to work 14-hour days? When *that* job is experienced as stressful, is the problem still you and not the job? Would love to hear Mr. Singer’s thoughts on this. 🙏

    • @SantaCruzHappy1
      @SantaCruzHappy1 Год назад +5

I was in the Navy, so I know 14-16 hour days for months on end...six days a week. I was stressed beyond imagination and would get migraines from it. So, I know what you are talking about. I retired from the Navy and then started a business that is perfect for me (Pet Sitting/Dog Walking). I don't think Michael Singer is saying not to change things in life, but to learn from every moment. My mother used to always say "Well, what you can you do about it?" (the situation) or "what are you going to do about it?" and I liken that to the serenity prayer "God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference." My question to you is if the job is perfectly pleasant in the middle of the day, why is it not pleasant after longer hours? And what can you do to best do that job that will make it less stressful? Perhaps taking breaks throughout the day, perhaps doing some light exercises and/or a ten miniute meditation during that break? I know when I was stressed out with my job in the Navy, just talking about how stressed I was added to the stress. Are you in fear that if you get too tired you will not do as good a job then be asked to leave that job? I also think journaling helps...writing down your thoughts about the job and what is stressful about it. The job is on the outside...and Michael is all about inside, inner work....what is going on INSIDE of you that creates this stress.

Same. After my last burnout that left me bedridden and has taken over 4 years to recover, and finding out I'm autistic and ADHD, I'm struggling to find anything, not a single thing, I can do work wise that will actually bring in enough funds to cover my minimum expenses.
Feel like all I've done is work out what the actual root cause was only to find there is no way to fix it, even accommodations like sorting my clothes so they aren't uncomfortable (limited success), wearing sunglasses in places with bright lights even if it's inside, and ear plugs it's still not enough. Learning to understand my body's needs after a life time of having them put down and ignored and shamed for it has been a long slow process but I don't have the health to just push through anymore.
Learning to stim has helped a little bit doing that anywhere outside home gets immediate discrimination or/and being ostracized not to mention the infantization people do.
Even the job application process is systemically built to exclude neurodivergent people. Can't live off just air and there's no support payments I can get.

His message is so wrong. Most of the time, stress and burnout at work occur because people are massively overworked, not because of the attitude they have. Often they are eager to work hard, but the toxic 24/7 work culture is ruining people's health. It's just common sense, there is no need to overthink it with a 'spiritual' analysis. Change often seems to take forever.....(I see your fear in the stress....fear of not making a difference). I loathe conflict (as most people do)...and I can get get super hyped up in my communication style when I feel so passionate about something. Not sure if you are this way, too. At the deepest level, I think resistance is any commitment to a reaction that is rooted in fear. I say commitment because experiencing disturbance is natural. In the example given in one of the comments below, where you may be late to a meeting while you are in the middle of a traffic block. Initially, you will experience disturbance because you have a preference of not being late. That reactive experience is natural. The problem is we identify with that reaction and commit to it thereby causing resistance and more suffering. In other words, because we feel disturbed, we let our minds begin to race about excuses for being late for example, which loops back to the heart and causes more stress. The more we commit to the reaction, the more stressed we become. Alternatively, we could just accept that nothing can be done about being late at that moment, and later arrive at the meeting centered and clear without personal fears ready to tackle the problems objectively.

Someone experiences from early childhood the trauma of a parent who projected their own fears and trauma onto the child through physical and emotional abuse.
The parent is a functional alcoholic.
The child suffers and lives in fear of the parent for many years and feels powerless until they are old enough to leave as an adult, moving a thousand miles away, never speaking to any family member for 12 years.
The child seeks to free himself from the haunting childhood experiences, and cannot truly forgive and forget. He becomes a lifelong pot smoker. Finally the parents pass away.
The child now in his sixties, gives up substances and begins practicing meditation and studying buddhism.
The practice and study include breathwork, yoga stretching and body scans, mantra and chanting, relaxing the body, witnessing the content of thoughts and emotions, and love and compassion meditation.
His practice leads him to realize how emotionally trapped in the past he's been all these years.
His practice facilitates clarity of mind and the ability to let go of the attachments to the past, to watch his mind without judging.
When he sees his emotional blockages, he takes time to watch them and let them pass through him without trying to change anything.
Sounds easy, but it often isn't at first, until it becomes the new normal, through practice in daily life over months and years.
We don't have to change anything, just observe non-judgmentally, relax mind and body, and let go of what we need externally in order to feel okay internally.
It took almost a lifetime to get to this point.
Some would say a life wasted.
Others would say a life worth living.

The information is valuable, but the music is too loud.
I am sure no one comes here for the music. Why would you force it onto the people?

Please save the trouble of finding music to go with these important messages. It’s too subjective anyway, plus it’s distracting. Thanks.
