2022...been listening to this band since I was like 14 I'm now almost out of my 20s. And this song hits just as hard as it did the first time I heard it!
Listening to *Headbanger's Ball* on *MTV2* and getting introduced to bands like Norma Jean, Hatebreed, Everytime I Die, BTBAM, Bleeding Through, Underoath, BYD, Martyr A.D., (basically any band on Victory Records) Children Of Bodom. Opened up my love for Metal/Hardcore music. Also, Remember buying a CD back in the day and getting a sample disc with songs? Those were the days!
Haha I bought the Darkest hour album un doing ruin, and I got a sample disc with music videos with BTBAM and this band on there; this was back in 2002 or 2003.
It seems like it was only yesterday we were all in high school, jammin to this in the backyard right before/after shows; skating around town. Fuck man. RIP Abraham Ortiz RIP Branden Ocampo
I remember my first bury your dead show. Remembering never headlined at thee imperial in Jacksonville Florida. Byd pit on an amazing show. However remembering never introduced me to my first game of hardcore football. Shit was crazy blood covered the floor in the pit, the pile up was unreal.. after the first song the asked who drew first blood to get free merch... some random guy raised his hand, they said it wasn't enough blood, then they played "grenade in mouth tragedy" shit was insane. Hahahahaha found memories of being a kid!!
Randomly switched on Headbanger's Ball late at night when I was 11 and this video was playing. Still having forgotten them for introducing me into hardcore and metalcore and being a gateway into a ton of different kinds of metal.
same here. except i was 18 and about to graduate. got this CD a week later, saw them on Ozzfest a few months later, and I still jam this CD twice a year in my car AS LOUD AS POSSIBLE.
One year in high school, I wore a pinstripe suit to prom and it was all thanks to this video, thank you BYD for many memories and the idea of the suit I wore to prom
I remember being 12 years old in elementary school when this video came out. Eleven years later and it's still just as sick as the stuff coming out in hardcore/metallic hardcore today. Cover Your Tracks was the most punishing albums of the 00's, bar none.
Mat Bruso is a fucking BEAST. I got their 2005 DVD. Dude takes a guitar to the head during one of windmill swings. Blood starts pouring down his body and he kept right on going like nothing happened. Then it shows the after show footage of him at the hospital getting the staples. BRUTAL!
Saw this band in 2006 at the muse Nashville, fucking amazing people getting their head busted open that venue was brutal and this band had it fucking hype, favorite show ever besides OG acacia strain and under oath shows
One of my all-time favorite song. There's a lot of that but I have been love this song and this video. I absolutely love the Victory Records DVD and CD. That's how I discovered a few of these bands back in the day! Killer stuff!!
saw a TV commercial for this album in early 2005. bought that CD a week later, saw them live that summer, twice in 2006 and have been addicted ever since.
Got to see them for Christmas back in 05 I believe, One of the greatest bands of all time to see, Mat made that place come down, I remember people were having a good time when they played.
When I first saw heard this video I classified them as a heavier version of hatebreed loved it still do. I'm a more extreme metal guy but this hardcore band was more than enough to satisfy my taste for metal. This video always gave me happy days type video satire. Glad bury your dead is 🔥 back.
2023 11:00 pm at my house in the Midwest. Bostonian from south shore, not even 15 mins to the pony room if anyone is old enough to remember that place. This shit never gets old, just like acacia strain, blood for blood, death before disgorge and so many other old school hardcore bands.
I see you're weak. Did you see that we were strong? We all make mistakes in life. You made your choice, at the same time you made mine. You found a man that you'd give for, and what you gave would mean my everything. You'd come around in the long run. I can see now how we all lost hope 'cause we would spend everyday thinking about you. We'd grow strong without you. We had each other. That's all we needed. Life wasn't easy but it could be beat. A constant battle, mine for the taking, with them beside me, and that's all I'd need. The years without you were far from easy. We'd have our visits but only in my dreams. I might sleep smiling though I was cold. We had a fire that's not what makes a home. Forget the past. Let's forget the struggle. We have you back and that's all I need to know. You need us now and we all forgive you. I see you're weak. Did you see we're strong? Are you proud that we turned out so strong? Forget the past. We have you back. You need us now and we all forgive you. I see you're weak. Did you see we're strong? Are you proud that we turned out so strong?
lol yes, after I posted that comment and 2 music videos later i learned that the old singer came back. Last time I really got into bury your dead was when they made that one black dude the singer and the old singer left to become a teacher. To let you know though...glad hes back, even though they still have some improvement to make with their new shit

2021, the first time heard this it was 2006, had never heard anything like it. Changed how I looked at metal
Haha what a time to be alive. This scene was at its peak when I was finishing high school. It is 100% dead
Hahaha, it's not dead just because you're not part of it anymore.
Come to New York buddy we will take care of you 😬

what years were you in high school?

12 in elementary? Lol
+Farkmetal elementary schools in florida are weird, lol.
Confirmed on Floridian public schools. They are super-tardid.
everything in florida is tardid. the whole state is america's Dong.
wow, I was 12 in freshmen year, chula vista, CA schools
I always found that intro jazz to be really soothing, perfect build up to the song.

One of the early bands at the roots of metalcore when that genre was still good.
lol ur dum
Ahem...not the early days of metalcore. This is about 10 years too late.
who cares! SMH
Because you should give respect where it is due and not give respect where it isn't due. Simple is that.
they weren't really metalcore so much as they were beatdown hardcore . Those slam riffs bro....
