Update to last comment: I simply went through the steps again. Although it took over an hour to reach the utility, it ended up working in the end. Thanks and I will pay it forward.
Nice! My 2011 15' mac book pro laptop has life again. Originally my laptop had RAM issue 8 years ago which would randomly shut off or get stuck on sleep mode, instead of using two 4GB sticks, i use one 8GB stick. Recently I left it on sleep mode overnight and it got stuck on the green screen boot loop, after disabling the GPU, i was able to go to recovery mode and fix it. I was ready to decommission it , but now it has a couple more service years left as a backup. Thanks to you, it will live on!
I never comment, and no I’m not one of those ppl that always comments on ppls stuff saying they never comment 🤦🏽♂️ But this guy deserves a medal for this. Idk how anyone comes up with this type of Bruce Lee Mac code combination but it works and my wife and I saved unnecessary time and money on searching for a new immediate Mac. Then reinsert the harddrive into the laptop and do a complete OS install. What are your thoughts? Thank you 🙏

Mine was stuck too... Simply create a bootable osx drive on another laptop... You can use windows also with transmac or create a bootable usb using virtual machine... I used virtual machine by following a guide from geekrar website. Then downloaded os using dosdude1 patcher... Once my usb was setup i booted into my laptop holding alt(option) key and booted into usb... Then from top i selected utilites and selected terminal and turned off csrutil that way... Other steps i followed from this video...

Big kudos to you! You really saved me and my mbp 15 late 2011. I had this problem when screen started to glitch and mac hit into restart loop. I tried a lot of reset commands and after I lost a hope to fix by myself and started thing give my mac to service. But then i found your video and I was doing step by your commands after all process my mac is back to normal and I can work on it. Big thank and keep doing things what you do. Shout-out from Riga, Latvia!!
My macbook was sitting in a closet for a year because I had this exact problem and didn't want to pay for a new graphics card. This is the first youtube video I've found that 100% worked (I tried multiple solutions to no avail). This got me back into the computer to recover old files. Can't thank you enough I am in disbelief that this worked.
Dude... you have just SAVED MY LIFE!!!! I tried for months to by pass whatever was causing the reboot cycle and nothing worked. This video saved my machine so THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU
Thank you so much guys for this. It really saved me! Just to note for people that are still on Mavericks Os X that the command csrutil disable and enable is not necessary. When I was writing it, I was receiving the usual notification that the command does not exist when in recovery mode. However I tried csrutil disable; reboot and it rebooted while I don't think the command scrutil worked and then I moved the files as shown in the tutorial. Maybe Mavericks doesn't have this kind of security.
After 3 years of sitting at the back of my cupboard, my 2011 MBP is working again. I tried following guides over the years and never got it to work and had gave up on it. Thankyou for making this video, and thanks to the author of the original guide!
I have tried 3 other RUclips videos, but this one worked on early 2011 MacBook Pro, exactly the way it is explained. Big Thank You, and good luck to others.
Thank you so much! My 2011 failed on my the night before finals and it was an unbelievable pain to deal with. Now, several months later, I have it fixed and it will be a backup for me. I feel much better knowing I can actually use this now. You're the man
I'VE GOT MY MACBOOK WORKING AGAIN!!! WHOOP WHOOP 🎉 Thank you Crazy Will. I tried all sorts for over a week and I decided to try one last time. I suspected it was a GPU issue and once I googled those key words (it filled in '2011' lol), I came across your video. When I logged in after finishing and saw my backlit keyboard light up, I knew that it was successful. I was soooooo happy and relieved. These machines are not cheap and you saved me in many ways. Latest attempt. I did this fix, then I installed macOS Monterey to my MacBook pro early 2011 with opencore legacy patcher. 1st attempt failed using opencore legacy patcher v0.4.1. 2nd attempt I used the latest version of opencore legacy patcher v0.4.2. I don't know wat I did, but this time it worked! I'm so happy! Now I can safely say that I can buy an ssd, hdd caddy, max out the ram, new internal speakers and fully refurbish this old girl! Thanks to ur video!
My Mac Book Pro 2011 has died second time because of its faulty Radeon. First time I was able to replace the whole motherboard for free but now it's too late). You video helped me and made my notebook work again, thanks!
This fix worked great for me one year ago! However, I accidentally pressed OK when I was given a reminder to update this evening. Well, now I can’t get back in my computer and this fix won’t work anymore. Thanks for the extra one year on this machine!
After 5 years... I just got mine working thanks to this guide. My MBP LATE 2011 was on Yosemite, i figured out that was why CSRUTIL wasn't working. I was able to update to High Sierra luckily because the disable GPU part was in the beginning of the process. Otherwise, it wouldve shutdown or blackscreen on me. Also i did get stuck getting error 2002F on the recovery mode part i think it was having trouble connecting to the internet during that process. I was able to access terminal by doing CMD+R by itself, i think that way it by passes the internet connecting part. Thanks again, now I'm planning on upgrading ram and the HDD!
i wanted to comment on your video because it is AWESOME!!! thank you....thank you for the step by step and full procedure to fix my two laptops. i have two laptops now that work. i am so grateful for what you showed me and i highly recommend this to anybody who wants to fix this issue. i did use the other process(text steps) and it didn't work but your steps worked..both times. i had two 17" macbook pros that a school were just giving away because of graphics card issue. again, thank you.

silently watched the whole video, still doubting whether this will be the right decision for me... applied the fix in 10min and now I have a working late 2011 MacBook Pro workiyng. I do understand its limits, nevertheless, it feels great and it works! As the only way I could thank you from my end here in a small village in northern Italy, is by liking and subscribing to your channel. Thank you Will!
If you have any issue with disabling SIP (booting to recovery mode) and cannot get into the terminal through Internet Recovery Mode. Run this command: nvram fa4ce28d-b62f-4c99-9cc3-6815686e30f9:gpu-power-prefs=%01%00%00%00 Reboot *and quickly go into the Internet Recovery Mode My computer wouldn't go into Recovery Mode fully and this worked for me. Crazy Will...Thanks a lot for the video!!!!
I accidently performed the NVRAM step a second time midway through the walkthrough (around the 7:30 mark). Now the screen won't even turn on no matter how many times I try resetting SMC/NVRAM (still hear the chimes however). Did I brick the machine by accident?
@@CrazyWillTechShow no dice unfortunately. I followed the steps all the way until the 4:50 mark, but the screen never comes alive. What sucks is that everything was going smoothly the first time around, but when I couldn't get into single user recovery I tried an NVRAM reset. It's been bricked ever since. Unless there's something else I could try, I'm afraid this laptop may be dead for good. Two things I should note. Mine is a mid '12 model, and I was a little unclear if the first chime counted when resetting NVRAM so I tried both ways and neither worked. Either way, thumbs up on the video. Very informative and a great supplement to the instructions on GitHub.
I had allready tried to complete the tutorial linked in the discription a few months back, but didn't have the time to really look into it. With this video I was able to do it. (go into the recovery mode helped a lot). The rest was a breeze. Thanks a lot!
@@CrazyWillTechShow wel, I did upgrade to the latest patch but I was aware of the implications. Zo I redid the fix and I now have an up-to-date system running on the Intel GPU :-)

Was considering taking my mac to be repaired and at worse, get a another one. This video saved me from both. Works on both occasions that I followed the instructions. I say both times - the 2nd time was as a result of updating as the system advised me of updates available. Updating meant going back to the problem. SAME, Mines been going strong for a solid year. Just remember when you reformat your hard drive this will be required again so save the instructions lol. I just learn the hard way tonight but glad I saved his video on my playlist :)
That’s good to know for the future. Thank you! Hopefully I don’t have to, but you never know.
THANK YOU for the fix, i was pulling my hair out all day searching for solutions, good vibes!
Been there my friend. Very happy it worked.
Update to last comment: I simply went through the steps again. Although it took over an hour to reach the utility, it ended up working in the end. Thanks and I will pay it forward.
I'm a believer! This took care of the neon green stripes that were on my screen. Thank you for putting this out there, it was easy to follow.
Lol don’t rely on it. But glad to see you got it up and running.
It at least bought us time to get some money together for a new one but I couldn’t be any happier to have this issue resolved, thanks for this video man! 🥂🥂🥂
Glad I could help! Yeah not the greatest fix but buys you some time.
DUDE YOU FIXED MY COMPUTER AFTER YEARS OF TRYING!!!!! Thank you!!!!!
Nathan Brown what your Mac problem? Glitch?
Crazy Will! Thank you so much for your help. You also saved my life in many ways by getting back into my MacBook. ❤️🙌🏻
I’ve tried so many ways to get my MacBook up and running 🏃 and no luck till I found your video. Thanks 😊 You made me smile 😃 I got my MacBook up and working again ... not to mention I was in my closet for over 2 yrs.
You made me smile too thank you 😊
Accidentally did an OS update, like a dummy, in the car on an AC inverter, and lost power halfway through. Had this issue again, and your video came through yet again! You da MAN
Thanks for sharing
This happens to my other 2011 MacBook Pro and this fixed it and I have another one and have this video saved for when it does break you have saved so many mac lives keep it up buddy
When I get to terminal, I type in, csrutil disable and the computer replies, command not found.
What is recommended to do next in this case?
I gonna try fixing my laptop again today by running through the steps here. If anyone has more ideas, please let me know.😸
Grace Ada type "csrutil status" and after csrutil disable
@@abdolahbouch2946 ...still no luck. It reads, -bash: csrutil disable not found :-\
@@falcy2889 thank you for sharing this forum :) it's nice to know I am not alone. However, none of the suggestions helped and I am still trouble shooting.
At this point, id like to back up my internal drive by physically removing it with tools and use a SATA reader to transfer the footage onto another drive. Then reinsert the harddrive into the laptop and do a complete OS install. What are your thoughts?
Thank you 🙏
@@freeform682 Did you find a fix?
Man, I already gave up on my macbook. YOURE THE BEST
Thanks 😁

MAN I'M SO THANKFUL FOR THIS! MY LOCAL MACBOOK REPAIR SHOP JUST GAVE UP TO MY MAC TODAY AND THEN I FOUND YOUR CHANNEL. I FIXED IT THANKS TO YOU!
It’s been 10 years with my beloved 2011 MacBook Pro and had this issue several times. Today September 22nd 2021 she decided to retire, but after watching your video and going through all the process, her retirement is going to be a much better one! It’s working!
Thank you so much man for taking the time to make this video and saving one more old good beautiful MacBook. Cheers!
Thanks man really appreciate it. Glad you got it back.
Thanks Will! You are a life saver!! I thought my MBP was gone for good!
This man was sent from God. THANK YOU!!! I had lost all hope!
When I go to recovery mode , it's stuck at examining volumes and idk what to do after that. Could someone please help me?
Mine was stuck too... Simply create a bootable osx drive on another laptop... You can use windows also with transmac or create a bootable usb using virtual machine... I used virtual machine by following a guide from geekrar website. Then downloaded os using dosdude1 patcher... Once my usb was setup i booted into my laptop holding alt(option) key and booted into usb... Then from top i selected utilites and selected terminal and turned off csrutil that way... Other steps i followed from this video...
Dude your video show up out of nowhere after many attempts trying to save my stuck in apple loading issue not knowing this was the real problem, gave it a desperate try and it saved my go to the shop! I can't thank you enough 🙏
Glad I could help
Had given up on both of my MacBook Pro 11. Been paying for temporary fixes from a local repair store every 3 months after the graphics card melts the connections. This solved my issues and both are now operational! Saved me having to flop for a new one! THANK YOU!!!
Worked on the 17" model too, THANK YOU!! 🙌
Can u help me in dm please
thank you so much, I had my Mac in the closet for 4 years and I decided to try this today!!! it works :)
Hi, just about to follow this guide but wondered if this method last long? I heard you may need to repeat to reset the SMC from time to time, is that the case for you? Thanks
@@Nintendelaide sorry for the delay... I have not have to do anything else, working fine!
you literally saved me !! much love
how’s your laptop Sir?
D-ROSE James perfectly! It works great even under pressure
alessio secco when you tried this method, your files was still intact when it was fixed? Thanks for the reply by the way.
hehe
D-ROSE James yup everything in the same place. i found out that I can’t connect a second monitor to the mac but it’s a little price to pay I think.
alessio secco thanks so much
Thanks! 5years later, you bring me back to life!

This saved my MacBook!
Could you guide me through the coding part?
This saved my macbook!!!!! Thank you!
I know bin there that why did this video want to shout it from the rooftops. The guy that made the solution is a genius. Really thankful I found it.
Dude... you have just SAVED MY LIFE!!!! I tried for months to by pass whatever was causing the reboot cycle and nothing worked. This video saved my machine so THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU
Very happy to help.
Thank you a lot Bro. God Bless You
Bro thank you so much finally I can use my MacBook the white screen was driving me crazy
thank you so much for this! my macbook pro now is working :-) mmmua :-* :-)
That great!
You're the man
Thanks. Thats what I do with it, backup Computer A.k.a. Goof off at work computer. Lol
Thank you. 🤛🏿🥰🤜🏿
Lol that awesome! Glad I could help.😁
Just watched this other guy talking about taking it appart and soldering this or that - your video popped up next to it - and just saved my Mac Book Pro 2011 THANK YOU!

Thanks man. I have been struggling with this since 2011, I was using gfxcard but never gave the result that I want. My computer issue came to an end after seeing your video. All credits and stay safe.
Bruh!!!!! This video saved me hundreds of dollars. And your computer was doing exactly what mine was doing. And I couldn’t find a video anywhere. Thanks again!
That’s awesome thanks for let me know!
Bought a 2011 MacBook Pro at a garage sale for $15. Battery's completely dead but somehow it has zero graphics issues right now. As soon as I replace the battery I'll go through these steps and make this super cheap machine into a neat little time capsule. Thanks for the tutorial!
If I ever find someone selling a 2012 logic board for cheap, I might replace the current one with it and Frankenstein it into a 2012.
DUDE, I thought my old school Macbook pro was dead. WOW, it is alive again, all thanks to you. Thank you so much, I subscribed and hit the like button so much I broke my track pad. Thank again!
Thanks really appreciate it glad to help.
After six years in my laptop bag followed your instructions and got my old macbook pro working very happy super instructions
Oh, WILL!I owe you cocktails. This WORKED. Can't believe. I had narrow grey horizontal lines and the laptop would turn itself off every time I logged in. But after completing your process a third time (eventually in a jumbled order) I have my Macbook back! THANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOU
Hey proud of you you didn’t give up. It does take a couple times. Glad I could help.
i AM DEFINITIELY subscribing with more than just one account. It took me 3 years to finally get this fix after some dudes chop my money countless times in the name of fixing it.
Glad I could help! and thank you for the subs. Please look at this video it may help ruclips.net/video/uskAgX330No/видео.html
Just completed...and it's back! So far, so good. This device has more lives than an alley cat. Thanks and respect CW
LOL so true. Thanks!
It's not over! Please look at this video it may help ruclips.net/video/uskAgX330No/видео.html
@@CrazyWillTechShow Fixed it! Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks again, now I'm planning on upgrading ram and the HDD!
note on the 2002F error, wifi is working, and connected to internet also i tried to use ethernet which also did not work.
i wanted to comment on your video because it is AWESOME!!! thank you....thank you for the step by step and full procedure to fix my two laptops. i have two laptops now that work. i am so grateful for what you showed me and i highly recommend this to anybody who wants to fix this issue. i did use the other process(text steps) and it didn't work but your steps worked..both times. i had two 17" macbook pros that a school were just giving away because of graphics card issue. again, thank you.
Glad I could help😁 I always worry that I’m not coming across correctly. Really appreciate the feedback.
Dude you are legend! I loved your video, your personal touch on the commentary was priceless! Very cool :) I had bought this model MacBook Pro off eBay for $60 with shipping knowing it needed some TLC (according to the seller) but soon I found out it had the dreaded GPU failure. But thanks to your video, it's actually usable to some degree. Thanks again!
CRAZY WILL - I MIGHT ONLY HAVE 2011 MacBook Pro - BUT. for the last two years it has been very useful.
Looking forward to the next two years ! THANKS AGAIN. ! ! ! .........................

i just want to thank you so much, i just buy this old machine for 266 with gpu normal but when i used it for a week its start to glitch n i watch your video i repeat the process two times n now it work perfectly. thank i just need it so much for my presentation next month. good bless you.

Thank you so much! My laptop was out for 3 weeks and I was about to take it to a technician. You saved us money and I am so happy my laptop is back up :) Keep up the great work. I am using this in May 2020 - I love my macbook 2011! You are a Legend!
Thanks happy to help 😄
Man you just saved my MBP 15'' 2011 ... I JUST BOUGHT IT FROM ANOTHER GUY!! And this happened 10min after i closed the deal !! Thank you so much!!!

Ok. so i dont have a backup to restore from and i tried installing lion but it didn't go through because i got a pop up that said it's missing components to download the program 😭😭😭
Thank you very much from Spain!
After reballing my macbook pro 15 early 2011, it soon had the same graphics problem again. I followed your protocol and it worked perfectly. Again, thank you very much!!!
I LOVE YOU YOU JUST SAVED MY MACBOOK PTO WITH ALL MY PHOTOS WITH YOUR GUIDEEEEE THANKSSSSS YOU HAVE A NEW SUBSCRIBER
Thanks 😊
silently watched the whole video, still doubting whether this will be the right decision for me... applied the fix in 10min and now I have a working late 2011 MacBook Pro workiyng. I do understand its limits, nevertheless, it feels great and it works! As the only way I could thank you from my end here in a small village in northern Italy, is by liking and subscribing to your channel. Thank you Will!
Another Paisan from the home land. So glad it worked! Thanks you really appreciate the subscribe and like. That’s all I ask for. Thanks 😊
If you have any issue with disabling SIP (booting to recovery mode) and cannot get into the terminal through Internet Recovery Mode.
Run this command:
nvram fa4ce28d-b62f-4c99-9cc3-6815686e30f9:gpu-power-prefs=%01%00%00%00
Reboot
*and quickly go into the Internet Recovery Mode
My computer wouldn't go into Recovery Mode fully and this worked for me.
Crazy Will...Thanks a lot for the video!!!!
thanks for this.
I have no words to thank you enough !! you have revived my MacBook which has been dead for 3 years ! you made up my day !
You just made mine, thanks glad it worked.
I accidently performed the NVRAM step a second time midway through the walkthrough (around the 7:30 mark). Now the screen won't even turn on no matter how many times I try resetting SMC/NVRAM (still hear the chimes however). Did I brick the machine by accident?
I don’t think so. Try NVRAM reset again it should Knock the old graphics card in.
I don’t think this would work on 2012?
I had allready tried to complete the tutorial linked in the discription a few months back, but didn't have the time to really look into it. With this video I was able to do it. (go into the recovery mode helped a lot). The rest was a breeze. Thanks a lot!
Glad I could help just make sure you don’t upgrade.
@@CrazyWillTechShow wel, I did upgrade to the latest patch but I was aware of the implications. Zo I redid the fix and I now have an up-to-date system running on the Intel GPU :-)
You are a true hero! Broken Complex Studios appreciates you!
Glad I could help 😁
@@CrazyWillTechShow I forgot to mention! I couldn't get into System Recovery mode with Command + R without getting an immediate error, so I had to create a High Sierra Boot Thumb Drive and boot off the USB holding the option key to get into Terminal and turn off the crucible.
Nice move!
Wow!! this totally worked for me! I had taken the laptop to my local Apple shop. They charged me $65 to diagnose it and told me to buy a new computer!! You totally ROCK!!! Subscribing!!
Thanks that means a lot. $65 to sell you another computer. wow!
I payed £200 to get this issue fixed once. It happened again, and I was able to get it done with just these simple instructions. Thank you very much!!
Thanks really appreciate it.
Was considering taking my mac to be repaired and at worse, get a another one. This video saved me from both. Works on both occasions that I followed the instructions. I say both times - the 2nd time was as a result of updating as the system advised me of updates available. Updating meant going back to the problem.
I have noticed a drop in performance but as I have a free slot for ram so it's no biggie
That awesome.
Hi, I have a problem on 8:30; when entering “/sbin/mount -uw /“ it says “disk1s1: device is write locked” and it’s the same when entering next commands. Could somebody help? :)
