You are without a doubt the best in what you're doing with your channel bro... by a landslide💯 I sit up till early hours in the morning with your progressions... it changed the game completely for me... without it I would use MPC Beats for percussion and sample only... it opened up a whole new world.... thanks again bro.. you're second to none..
The tip for using the sustain pedal and MIDI keyboard is out of this world! Gives the MPC so much more realism when creating chord progressions along with other melodic phrases on top. I first saw a video by Musician Paradise using Ripchord and since then, I have not looked back. All of Musician Paradise videos are Top of the line. You feel as though no time is wasted and all this knowledge is gained! Thank you Musician Paradise.
Great Video! I learned quite some things! But what I dont get about the MPC Live is why it assigns random notes in between the pads which have the chords in a custom made saved progression. For example: I make a progression with 4 chords and save it as a custom progression. When I select this progression in the notes menu it always has other notes on the pads instead of only 4 pads with 1 chord each.
Hmm, that's an interesting question! I have an idea why this might happen, but I could be wrong. Typically, I hard-quantize the chords to quarter notes before converting them to progressions, and make sure every note in the chord has the same length. After that, I select all the MIDI notes and slightly reduce their length by just a few milliseconds to avoid legato or overlapping notes. All of these steps help the MPC to cleanly convert your chords into the .progression file. You are referring to the Note Menu - are you using AKAI Force or MPC? Because usually access to the .progression files done from the progressions menu.
@@MusicianParadise Thanks for your quick answer. My Notes were all exactly the same length, so I doubt the hard quantize helps but I will try it later anyway! Maybe reducing their length slightly will do the trick, will try it. I am using MPC Live 2 and was refering to the "Notes" (16 Level) Button on the Unit itself which opens the "Pad Perform" mode, didnt describe it well in my last post.
It actually very simple - at first, I'm playing or drawing some sequence of chords and d single notes into the MPC piano rolL, then I'm using "Convert To Progression" feature so the MPC creates custom chord progression file out of my MIDI in piano roll. And, if original midi has single notes those will appears as a single notes in .progressions files! Hope this helps, thanks for watching!
Have you figured out how to use different pad perform settings for different programs or different tracks. If I have a monosynth on one track and a polysynth on another track, obviously I'd never want to use chord progression for the mono synth but I'd want to switch between the tracks with one click... right now it seems to apply the same pad perform setting to every track...
first of all, to access Pad Perform you have to be in a one of the three types of programs - Keygroup program; Plugin Program; Midi Program. From 2.8 update, pad perform have a shortcut on the main screen - switch the current track to one of the program types mentioned above and look at the low right corner of the screen - you will see a small, MPC pads like square shortcut with "pad preform" written below. Hope this helps!
hei, thank you for a good video :D how do you turn pad perform off? I put it on and now i can not get rid of it... I can not play only one note :o it always triggers another note, impossible to turn this off, I can not use my midi program or any program anymore, please help
@@MusicianParadise thank you :D I tried this but it still is playing a note that is much higher along with my other note, this is strange.... but I will let you know if I figure this out
@@eldflaug strange! Try different modes of pad perform, try to switch banks. Perhaps you are triggering another track by midi along with the first one?
@@MusicianParadise hei thank you so much! I finally got this to work right by choosing "custom" in pad performance mode. I turned MPC on and off and then changed pad mapping just to be sure it was right, and then choose this custom settings and now finally this is working. Thank you for the help :D like you said, something strange was going on, i must have accidentally changed something more than pad performance. Im really happy that this is ow all working normally again!

If you connect MIDI keyboard to your MPC you can do that. With 2.8 OS update It also possible to play two (or more) different programs - one on pads and another on MIDI kb. You can set it up in the Preferences/MIDI/SYNK.
