Good to see people from so many countries reacting to this. It means the noble art of three cushion billiards is still thriving.
It was such an honor to meet Dick Jaspers and watch his 3 cushion billiards demonstration in Lawrence Kansas a few years ago. My Bestie and I joke about how long it would take us to get to 40 points if we tried that game. We decided if we ever try it we'll go first to get 3 points. That would hopefully take less than a week to accomplish.
Jaspers was trained in 3 cushion and it's geometric-calculation system by a Belgium named Jean Verworst. This man is the only person who knows this system 1000% . Even Ceulemans looked for his advice and insights.
The sport is in concept so simple but allows for infinite variations in shot approaches. Mastery is very difficult - scares off the average pool player.
Jaspers' emotional handling is just simply awesome, rock solid.

Fascinating...had to look up the rules because I've never heard of this sport but I'm glad I did.
What was so special about this one? Never seen Jaspers celebrating this much, never seen any pro player as nervous as Bury. Weird stuff. Almost makes you sad for Bury. But his third point was much easier than Jaspers second in penalties. well deserved, Jaspers is really a clutch players. Thats why hes number 1 all these years

@Kozoom Newbie here. Why did Bury lose when it was 40-36 in his favour? I know Jasper's made it 40-40 but still confused..
Bury started the innings 1st. When/If you make it to 40 you stop. If you were the player who started the innings, you allow your opponent the same number of innings. They both made it to 40 in the same number of innings. So it went to extra inning.

My best guess is the format of the game combined with where the footage starts with respect to the state of the game in progress.

Hanszl H - I'm a snooker & pool player, so in all honesty if I gave it a try I'd probably enjoy it...Not to hot hot on working out angles off multiple cushions though, so wouldn't be long before I'd probably be breaking my cue into fire wood.....

What does a general average of over 2000 mean?
More than 2 points on average every time a player comes to the table.

Can anyone explain this format?- where the ump resets the balls to opening “break” positions seemingly arbitrarily in the middle of a player’s inning?
These were the closing stages of the match. They played to 40 points. Once the player using the white ball reaches 40, the other player with the yellow ball also gets the chance to reach 40. After that it's a sudden death. The first player made 2 points and missed the 3rd shot so then the balls were replaced for the other player and once he got to 3 points it was all over.

@@Woody-777 There are essentially 2 cue balls. The white is the cue ball for player 1 and the yellow is the cue ball for player 2. That's how it works in 3 cushion billiards (and other forms of billiards as well)

This was that match when Bury starts making noise with the candy or chocolate wrapper just as Jaspers is at 39. About to shoot a bank shot. Bank shots are Jaspers one weaker area of his game. If Jaspers misses this shot Bury is world champion. And just then he gets an uncontrollable craving for a candy? Fucking bullshit. Such a fucking douchebag move.
