Oh my goodness!!! Your review of "The Guest List" was spot on. It was absolutely awful. I hated all the characters so much I didn't care one flip about any of them & didn't care if they all killed each other off on that island. Sounds harsh but they were just awful people.
I think you're the first person I've seen on my Booktube feed really take issue with The Atlas Six the way I did. So glad to have someone else put into words how I felt after reading it! Also, thank you for speaking about the fatphobia in Love of My After Life--yet another reason why I love watching your videos!
Wow, I already had no interest in reading The Paradise Problem but your description of the book really solidified that decision 😳😂 And I’ve heard such mixed things about A Novel Love Story unfortunately! I have Severance on my shelf, curious to see what I’ll think about it. And I will still forgive you for Piranesi haha, it is definitely a weird one!
I actually considered The Guest List but I'm glad now that I didn't choose that one! LOL. You know I trust your reccommendations opinions on books. You make up my TBR list ☺🤣
I'm one of those Piranesi lovers 😊 I just like that type of story though.. it's an all time fave but would like to re-read this coming year. I can understand why it doesn't work for everyone though..
The Atlas series doesn’t get any better - I didn’t mind the first so much, but barely got through the second, no desire to finish the third now. Totally agree on Novel Love Story, super fast read I finished in a day, but my eyes hurt from all the rolling! I’ve since read The Dead Romantics by the author and that was a surprisingly fun time. Good slump breaker, predictable but fun. The Blame Game by Sandie Jones, not sure why I read this, but it got the same toss when I finished. So annoying, so bad, I won’t be reading anything else from her.
Oh I felt exactly the same about The Guest List by Lucy Foley. The Paris Apartment by her didn't do it either for me. I love mysteries but in both books the characters are horribly depressing.😩Won't be reading more of her work soon... I also had a terrible time reading The Spellshop. I saw this book everywhere on booktube. People were raving about it and mentioned it in the same breath as the Emily Wilde's series (which I love). So I thought I'd be a hit but it was horrible! Your description of the last book perfectly fits on The Spellshop. Thanks for making this video, it made me take some books off of my tbr 🤭
in order for me to love a romance, i need to have faith in the plot. i need to have faith in our 2 main characters. its why i DNF’d the paradise problem 100 pages in. the plot was a convoluted mess.
I read The Hunting Party by Lucy Foley this year, and HATED it. I think it is literally my least favorite book of the year. And yes, the biggest reason why I hated it so much was not necessarily because of the mystery, (honestly I didn't care about it at all) but because the characters were so unlikable and annoying.
My fave this year. It's not a 2024 published but it was new to me, Shogun. Such a beautiful novel. I checked it out from the library. I'm going to break down and buy a copy.
A woman that I work with recommended Shogun and said it was her favorite book of all time and I recently bought it at a library book sale, but I haven’t started on it yet, I have been reading a couple other long books of late and was putting it off, but I think I’m going to try it now📚
I read the guest list. I thought it was ok. And that's it. I have no more opinions on it. 😂. My copy went into a little free library. So if you're in arkansas, enjoy
Severance is probably something that Asian American immigrant families can relate to, I don’t think you’re the target audience if it makes you feel that way 😭😭
"The Love of my After Life" was one of my top reads of 2024 - I thought it was so funny and I could really understand some of the FMC quirks 😂I really liked it and read it in one day but everyone's opinion is different I guess 😉

A novel love story was an adventure!! The romance was definitely lackluster but the storyyyy is what I loveeeee

Agree with The Guest List. Just ugh. Definitely one of my worst of the year too.

I haven't read this one. I read Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell and absolutely loved it. In my top 10 of all time.
I had no idea THAT was the plotline for the Christina Lauren book
I’m dying at the way you flung that last book
I was so surprised to see A Novel Love Story on this list, it was a dream for me 😍

THE BOOK TOSS
Ruthless vows was also one of my most disappointing reads. I wanted so badly to love it as much as I did DR

I LOVE your sweater!!!! 🦌🤩
Atlas six was just a mess, to the point where I didn’t care about anything.
I fully laughed at the book toss 😂
I just recently found your page and I love your videos! 😊
Wait. A video everyday!? We don’t deserve you….
Do you subscribe to book of the month? Do you think it’s worth it? Considering it….

Yep, that’s why I said that.
8:35 the word was pretentiousness
This is not the first time I see someone describing this book as pretentious. I’ll take a book with a simpler writing over pretentious all day!
I felt the same about Piranesi and so thank you for validating that feeling 😂
