Parents need to stop waiting for the schools to care, and remove their children from schools that allow bullying. This is heartbreaking.

That's what I did. Shame on the parents of the abusers because that's what it is. When my daughter was 13, she started developing headaches and anxiety. She's a very pretty girl and she was then. There was just too much going on in her school with snarky girls and I know they were jealous and making her uncomfortable. I took her to specialists who found nothing physically wrong with her and that's when I decided to homeschool her. She did well and she stopped waking up in the middle of the night to vomit. The staff in school weren't doing anything beneficial and she didn't complain much to them. It all boiled down to kids who were not brought up the right way. It's horrible that some kids can be just evil and want to take down anyone who shines just like this young man.

It's not that schools actually care, it's that they are legally responsible for the welfare of all enrolled students.
Caring implies some sort of emotion, which cannot be proven legally. And is irrelevant to this discussion anyways.
There is caring and there is duty.
Duty can be proven via verifiable actions. Care is a feeling that I personally do not give two beeps about. It doesn't matter what the school staff and administration feels, it matters what they do about the problem.

One thing that has to be mentioned.. even if the officials in the High School were somehow able to diminish the bullying at the school, you also have social media where people are constantly being relentlessly evil towards each other. That’s something parents need to really consider if they have a child who is in this situation and to take their social media away and make them delete their accounts and or block the people who are causing problems.. this is so sad. Sadly they did, they even got an injunction to keep the bully away from their son, it didn’t work. Bullies can get to our kids even when they should be safe at home. Unless we remove all devices and stop our kids from communicating with the outside world, we can’t protect them. That’s where the school, the police and the parents of bullies bear responsibility - they need to intervene and there needs to be more done to stop bullying. And parents need to strip back their kids devices so nobody can bully our kids from home.
My 14 year old daughter, only has whats app and messenger and a very restricted amount of friends on both. Despite this she and her friend were told to kill themselves at school last week, and the boy who told her this, also said he was going to bring a knife to school and cut her throat, describing in detail how he would do it. My daughter came home and told me, and I reported it to school. School called police, he did have a knife on him. Said boy has not come near our daughter since.

I am sorry about what happened to this young man but as a parent listen to your kids. I’m tired of hearing about these stories. If they are being bullied assume the schools don’t care because they don’t! If your child is an athlete and looses interest in the sport that once brought them joy this is a red flag 🚩. TAKE YOUR CHILD OUT OF THAT SCHOOL! Put the kid in the school farther away, put the kid in online school or home school the child! In a perfect world the schools would suspend the bullies and offer them conflict resolution classes but that doesn’t happen!
My daughter is in 8th grade. She was not being bullied but she came to me and told me her classmates were like zoo animals and she didn’t want to go to that school anymore and by her own request she is now being homeschooled. What makes children or adults think that it's okay to bully another person. If your child is accused of being a bully, rather than immediately going on the defense, investigate and deal with him or her appropriately. They need to learn that it's absolutely not okay!
