    Regal, a true professional wrestler vs a GREEN rookie. Regal is far beyond what Greenberg could handle.

    I thought it was Goldberg's best match up until that point. Watching Bill have the same 90 second match over and over again was boring. He needed to learn to wrestle.

      @@pjleon8391 doesn't matter how talented you are if you can't sell. Today nobody has the look Hogan or Goldberg have and WWE is something only watched by a niche.
      Wrestling was great with gimmick wrestlers like Flair, Bruno, Tatanka, Lex Luger etc.
      The more the idiots did podcasts saying Luger didn't know wrestling, Goldberg was dangerous and Hogan was overrated, it killed wrestling with the mainstream audience.
      All these idiotic veterans backstage pushing talented guys have only resulted in new Bret Hart and Shawn Michael type vanilla midgets becoming champions.

    One person was a relative rookie who some would argue never picked up ring psychology or how the business worked throughout his career, the other guy was a seasoned veteran that held his hand up to everything he did wrong in his career, I know what account im believing

    Regal needs to name the agent who told him to go have a competitive match with Goldberg, that may put this myth to bed

    It proved early on that Goldberg could never have anything more than a squash match. His deal was that he went out and destroyed jobbers. But he was dangerous in the ring and didn’t really know how to work a standard match. He was WCW’s Ahmed Johnson. Nobody is going to deny his popularity, but Ahmed was popular too. Vince at least realized that you couldn’t have a guy hurting other wrestlers in the ring. Goldberg was rushed out of the Power Plant and once it was clear he wasn’t ready to be a safe worker he should have been sent back to learn. But WCW was in a ratings war and chose short term gain for long term pain.

    While I do believe Regal was trying to get a competitive match out of Goldberg, I also believe Regal intentionally exposed Goldberg because he was envious of the push Goldberg was receiving. I can’t blame him, he was way more experienced and better in the ring. Listen to Stevie Ray’s podcast Stand Up For Greatness and he says outright the boys in the back knew Regal was gonna do it because he wasn’t going to lay down for anyone.

    • @datacipher
      @datacipher 2 месяца назад +5

      He did say that, but it was all an assumption on his part as well. He thought Regal wouldn't lie down for anyone - but if Regal is telling the truth (and I believe him) he was TOLD to have a competitive match. I don't know how you could even have a SIX MINUTE Goldberg squash. Do 10 spears and 10 jackhammers? Regal didn't seem to do anything to take liberties, and the match wasn't bad, there were just moments were Goldberg was awkward and seemed unsure what to do next. When it was time to go down, Regal went down.

    • @5150crazyfun
      @5150crazyfun 2 месяца назад +2

      @@datacipher obviously Regal was told to have a competitive match I totally believe that. However, I don’t think he was told to go out there and expose Goldberg for being green which he did. By outwrestling him and making it clear Goldberg had no technical ability in the ring. And I’d argue as a veteran Regal’s job was to make the guy being given a push look good and he didn’t. That’s why Bischoff was pissed and rightfully so.

      @@5150crazyfunmost fans on this page forget that wrestling is fake. Regals job was to do the job.
      If it was real wrestling we have no clue who would have been a champion?
      Goldberg drew more dimes than Regal ever did. Many wrestlers getting bitter about Goldberg should know it doesn't matter how good you are as a wrestler if you can't draw or don't have the saleable look.
