Bentancur said it was a joke, but it was definitely racism against Koreans and he didn't apologize to Koreans separately.

As a Korean fan who visited Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in February 2023, I have been eagerly anticipating Tottenham's tour to Korea. However, I am deeply disappointed by Tottenham's silence on the racist remarks made against Koreans and Sonny. Tottenham, please do not treat Korean fans as ATMs.

한국인입니다. 벤탄쿠르 한국에서 좋은 이미지였다가 나빠졌습니다. 안그래도 축구 불모지에 열등감 느끼는데 하필 손흥민이 주장으로 있는 토트넘 선수인 벤탄쿠르가 그런 발언을 한 것에 대해 정말 많이 실망하고 있습니다. 7월 말, 한국 방문할텐데 아마 벤탄쿠르는 곤욕을 치를 수도 있을 겁니다. 인종차별은 없어져야 하지만 특히나 아시아권 나라가 받는 선입견과 모욕적인 언사는 더욱 특별하게 우리를 분노하게 합니다. 벤탄쿠르가 사과했어도 이미 우루과이에서 많은 선수들이 한국인을 차별해왔습니다.
