    Wow - these are Americans no the best motorcycle servicing videos I’ve ever seen. So professional and complete plus no idiotic music blaring or distracting irrelevant dialogue and cursing.
    Thank you so much for such clear, complete and easy to follow explanations! I am now searching for my dream bike (R100RS) and I’ll be following your channel with great interest.

    Great video series! Thank You! You guys are an asset to the airhead community....I’m also thrilled that you guys are a Siebenrock dealer!

      Thanks very much! We normally stock virtually all Siebenrock parts and can ship right away. In most cases, if we don't have it in stock, it's because it's not available at the moment or in transit from Germany.

    I noticed that no mention was made of cleaning the rear brake surface of the hub and breaking the glaze with some emery cloth, for example.

    Great video. I've been wondering how to service the drive side rear wheel bearing for years. I was afraid of messing up the hub so I just kept squirting some grease in the hub and hope for the best.

    Being that I have limited mechanical experience and that I am a visual learner, these videos are wonderful! Your videos are helping it all make sense! Any chance that you will be working on a R60 /2 in the near future? There is little available, video wise, for those of us who have them. I know that I would love to see something like what you have done with the R90 /6. I am sure that I would not be the only one! Guess I will have to go find a R90 /6 to keep my /2 Company! Keep em coming! Lovin it!

      Thanks for your kind comments. We do have an R51/3 that we'll be working on some day but probably not before 2019. In the meantime, sorry, we will not have any videos pertaining to your R60/2. Stay tuned!

    On 1983 R65 snowflake rims, there's a shoulder on the wheel hub. The outer races must be removed from their respective sides. Save yourselves the heartache

    Hello, you mention that on later models such as the snowflake rear wheel, the removal process is different. Do you have any further info on doing a snowflake rear wheel? I am struggling to find any info at all on it.

    • @boxer2valve
      @boxer2valve  4 года назад +1

      The snowflake rear wheel bearings are very similar to the front wheel bearings of the R90/6, which we covered in one of the videos. The procedure is basically that same, you just won't have those screw on caps. The way that the bearings are adjusted is the same.

    Having watched this a few times and getting ready to do it myself, I feel like maybe the bearing pack went back into the wheel the wrong way round? Normally the spacer/shim is outboard (ie on the right, or seal holder side). this is the way it came out when he tapped it out from the brake side. But when he put it back in he had it assembled the same way round on the axel but then flipped it and tapped it in from the outside, so the shim and spacer are going in inboard or brake side. Does this make sense? does it matter?

    • @hitechlowlife4288
      @hitechlowlife4288 Год назад

      Am also wondering the same, did you ever work this out?

    • @rpmthebrownrobe3
      @rpmthebrownrobe3 2 месяца назад

      did you ever learn if it matters? your right, he installs it backwards, opposite the way it came out. doing this now and not sure if he flipped the stack.

    Great series, perfect timing as I'm currently assembling a R90/6 myself. What rear tire is that you've installed?

    • @boxer2valve
      @boxer2valve  6 лет назад

      Hi Sam. The rear tire is a Continental K112 4.00-18. On the front we will be installing the RB2 3.25-19. These were the tires originally fitted in those days and they are correct for the bike. Good luck with your project and if we can help in any way, please let us know!

    Ive just bought a 73 R75/5 the front wheel turns of but there about 4 mm play when rocking the wheel from side to side, how much float should there be ?

  • @brianmartin5242

    I just purchased my first airhead, an 81' R80G/S and was checking the front wheel bearings as well as the head bearings which are tight but not notchy. Question is if the same procedure is used for the front wheel bearings? I see there is a seal with a tophat in it and beyond that a collar that seems to rotate around in there, not indicative of a inner "fixed" sleeve of a tapered roller bearing. Odd?

    What about the old recommendation of molybdenum grease on rear splines? I purchased some LM 47 from you guys-would that work well, or is the LM 508 (slightly?) preferred?

    The R75/5 parts fiche looks like a /5 has an additional felt ring and ring cover that I didn't see on this /6 rebuild. Can you tell me where the felt ring and cover actually go? Are they in lieu of the wheel seal on the right hand side, on top of the wheel seal or somewhere in the differential?

    • @boxer2valve
      @boxer2valve  4 года назад

      The felt ring and ring cover together basically are the grease seal on the inboard side of the wheel hub on /5 models.

    • @michaelkrumrine1144
      @michaelkrumrine1144 4 года назад

      @@boxer2valve Does that mean the felt ring and cover should be used instead of the 35x22x5 wheel seal?

    why don't you use a torque wrench and tell the viewer what the torque spec is? For instance on the rear wheel nut.

    • @boxer2valve
      @boxer2valve  4 года назад +6

      Hi Steven, torque specs often are different from one model to the next and since not everyone has the same bike as we are working on, we have decided not to mention torque specs. It's best that you consult your repair manual to get the correct specs for your particular model.
