Other great songs from this album And the bands played on, Denim and leather, Fire in the sky. From other albums, To hell and back again, Heavy metal thunder, Power and the glory,, Battlecry, Crusader, Call if the wild
The mighty Saxon are a great band, still going strong, released an album in '22, this is from their 4th album, Denim and Leather 1981, and actually vocalist Biff Byford mentioned he noticed Metallica had lifted a few riffs from them but they took it as a compliment. Best album overall is probably Power and the Glory, was their first big break in the U.S. entering the Billboard music chart top 200 and was recorded in Atlanta, Georgia and the first studio album to feature drummer Nigel Glockler, who is still with them btw.
One of the big names of the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal, very popular in the eighties. I saw them in 85 at Benfica Stadium, Lisbon. Before the show the vocalist Biff Biford had to calm down the crowd as there was an huge empty beer can battle going on. There were around 25.000 people attending, lots of cans in the air! Great times!
Yes, Metallica used the same solo for Seek And Destroy 2 years later, as this is part of the nwobhm from 1981 that Ulrich was very fond of.The whole album is totally worth listening to, it's their best to my ears.
Really good analysis of the song!
747 Strangers In The Night must be next, a song about an Aeroplane no less 👍
Also Dallas 1 P.M.
Killing Ground - 100% banger!
