- Did you know people are voluntarily putting tapeworms inside their bodies? It's known as the tapeworm diet. It helps people lose weight by letting this parasite eat everything inside of them. But this diet can go very, very wrong.
How would a tapeworm affect your body? Well on today's challenge we're going to find out by having you swallow a tapeworm. Think you can handle it?
Tapeworms are flat, segmented worms that can be as long as 25 meters (80 feet). They can’t live freely on their own, they need to be in the gut or stomach of an animal or a human to thrive. Animals can become infected with these parasites when grazing in pastures or drinking contaminated water or nutrition. How long do you think a these flatworms can live inside your body?

I remembered this day I was in agriculture class and had to stay to the side because I didn't want to dig the dirt.. my classmates found out I don't like earthworms and he threw one on me... I was so scared I jumped the school fence... I was having a panic attack and then I looked down a very long one was crawling across my shoe... it was one of the worst moments of my LIFE
The panic attack got even worst.. thought I was having an heart attack
The rest of the day I was focused on the ground and would flinch at the slightest thing that looks like an earthworm

History repeats itself. Back in the 1930's there used to be ads in magazines telling ppl to ingest tapeworms in order to lose weight 🤦🏼♂️ obviously this practice was exposed as being very dangerous so ppl stopped doing it (until now) hahaha

Me too. I have tapeworms when I first got into the UK and I would see them in my stool and I haven't experienced that ever since then. I eat loads and I don't get at all. I also experience a lot of bowel issues like having diarrhoea every morning and I also have been constipated for over a year, now.

A friend of my dad had a tapeworm in his brain. He had to go into surgery and he isn't the same once he got the surgery. It was sad but luckily he got rid of that parasite. The parasite had cause him to speak and act differently.

I have CIU - chronic idiopathic urticaria. I have had these hives daily for 3 years. I have heard that people with tape worms can get hives. Although I have no other symptoms of tape worms so I don't think I have one. Apparently there are a ton of things that can cause urticaria that aren't just allergic reactions. I haven't been allergy tested yet , I'm dreading it

funny thing is I was on colonoscopy and gastroscopy bcs of having pains around guts-stomach, felt really shitty all the time and I started to lose weight... all this took 8 months... doctor took a look and found nothing, like month later as I pooped I saw a little warm swiming in water 🙃insane... I’m having a tapeworm, just diagnosed a couple days ago. It’s life treating and I’m suffering from but luckily that I found out before the next stage. I didn’t feel a thing but I noticed something strange happened to my body. I have at least four kinds of worms inside my body and today just found out that I might have it since 2013. I had tape worm, and I almost die is the most horrifying experience I had when I was 16th the pain is excruciating, I almost loose my life honestly people got to be crazy to do that as a diet.
I do not recommend this diet at all I had my experience I traumatic.
How did you know you had the tapeworm and how did you get rid of it?
@@willowfox1118 I was diagnosed with it, and the treatment was horrible as well I took like 80 pills in like 3 days stopped for another week and restart the treatment, but I am better now but I was left with stomach problems like severe ulcers and anemic I weighted 96 pounds I was so ill. Took me months before I could eat and recovered

The only good tapeworm is a dead one! My poor cat has thrown up tape worms before. We have to sneak medicine into his food. This is why boiling water and cooking meat through is important.
