Good to see you back. When your chopping these types of samples, how do you go about getting the tempos? Or are you just chopping each horn as they are from the start of the hit to the end of the hit then just making it work with your drum patterns?
thats a good question... i play with the tempo and the tune as well to get it sounding the best, take the last beat for example the wind down flows with the drums, so i layed down the sample first snd played with the tempo so that the second. bar fit when it looped back to the begining, i layed my drums down afterwards, a lot of the times qhen i sample theres no tempo or kicks and hi hats in the sound so im able to place it basically in whatever tempo i want. i always always start off laying the sample first... i use my template at 180bpm double time 90 bpm normal. from there ill slow down or speed up the. beat and play with the tune of the sample. when tuning the sample im trying to find out if it sounds better slowed down or sped up. heres another tip on what i do, ill sample sounds and slow them down from -2 to -6 on mpc earlier models thats -20 to -60 and lay down a fast 184/92 bpm so the sample seems to stretch do you know what i mean? thats a big "secret" to creating my beats...

Ive recently just started sampling music that doesn't have an obvious tempo and alot of them are minus drums and hi hats. I ran into the problem of the tempo issue when making my loops because they ended up either being shorter or being too long and not looping properly. To resolve this ive, ive started playing back my chops in a completely new way that i wouldnt normally do but it works. Just have to be creative and experiment. The other thing i have come to realise is you dont always need to repitch the sample. In the past i always down pitched and even though the samples were sick, they would muddy up and pitching up im not a fan of because it looses the vibe.
i absolutely agree... if youre sample is too short or too long try a different sample point... i often use the beginning and the middle and the ending and not the in between... take your one sample and duplicate your sample a bunch of times with different starting points across the pads and play arouns with them... often ill use the nbginning then the ending then the middle and reuse the ending again... another thing i use is reverb so if the samples short you buy timer at the rnd with the reverb and let the sample breathe... another thing i do is use the beginning of the sample and the middle kick i leave empty and use the ending of the sample on the snare before it loops again @@Koedean

When you chop a sample into pieces then the tempo is really a big issue it’s only a issue when your trying to take a loop and just play it without chopping.
