    I’ve had this model for 3 years so far with no problems. I have a “Revision 01” model, so first redesign to fix some initial issues. Still known problems with this model, though. My tech who came out to check things over when I thought I had a problem adjusted some things and had a few pointers…
    He changed the defrost cycle interval to defrost more often per day to alleviate the rear panel/evaporator coil freezing issue. He advised that I spray a little bit of PAM cooking oil on the touch points of the bottom of the ice bin to keep the bin from freeze locking in place. You have to maintain the ice bin….if you are a low user of ice, dump the ice and defrost the built up ice in the bin cavities like once every 6 months. Oil the touch points with PAM and reinstall. Sometimes you may need to just break up the ice in the bin as well. Finally, he installed a pressure regulator on the incoming water line as the pressure is too high and causes leaks within the cabinet (resulting in water onthe floor and within the electronics). The water from the dispenser discharges slower but zero ice maker or water leak problems in 3 years. Been a fantastic fridge for me so far!

    • @apb1236
      @apb1236 Год назад +1

      I do not, unfortunately. The defrost settings are in the service menu accessible through the control panel inside the door. Any highly rated whirlpool tech in your area can probably adjust it for you. I’d have them adjust so as to not void your warranty. Better yet, don’t do anything now and monitor the unit’s performance. Your model likely is a couple of revisions newer than mine and the issues could actually be fixed now.

    • @apb1236
      @apb1236 3 месяца назад

      @@phillipjackson1628no, as of year 5, my unit is still truckin with zero issues. Just get the defrost setting changed from the default “efficiency” mode where it only defrosts when necessary to the “standard timed” defrost mode where it’ll defrost on a set schedule regardless of frost buildup. Follow my other instructions above and you shouldn’t have any problems.

    We had ours delivered in March for a remodel project. Installation was 6 months later. The refrigerator part was DOA, freezer seem to work, no ice though. Service guy ordered up a bunch of parts and estimated 6 hours for the repair. He had to dismantle most of the unit. Turns out it was an evaporator leak, no freon. After they left it took 48+ hours for ice to appear, very few cubes even after 36 hours. The unit is very quiet, can't hear the ice drop. Hope the ice production picks up.

    The glass is *glued* to the plastic frame on the main shelves. Nice touch for a $4100 fridge. Be very careful not to let any food/drink drip residue as it will get into the crevice and down in between the glass-plastic sandwich and almost impossible to clean. If someone knows how to safely separate the glass from the plastic, i'd love to know how.

    We've had the KRFC704SS model now for 6 years; first 5 years were great.......now, NOT so much. Keep having to have service out, started with icemaker failing. Each time Appliance Hospital (Kitchenaid recommended repair) come out, they advise it is a different part that needs replacing, charge profit on replacement part, plus a high labor fee. And then it does not solve the problem. So have to try again with a new part/repair costs. Has gotten out of hand, and no one really wants to help, just advise new part needed. We bought the entire kitchen suite to match; so feel doomed in needing to buy same or similar to keep kitchen cohesive. Had friends with the 604 model and encountered similar in same timeframe. Clearly not a well made product, too many issues even though it's "pretty" . Very disappointed with Kitchenaid, the model that they hype and the service we've rec'd.
