Very detailed information on road journey from Manali to Leh. However, in June 2023 when I was browsing through the websites of HRTC and HPTDC, I observed the following: 1. There was no direct HRTC bus from Manali to Leh. You need to reach Keylong and then take the bus to Leh from there. 2. HPTDC bus had no overnight halt at Keylong. It started early in the morning from Manali and reached Leh at around 7:30pm. 3. HPTDC bus ran on alternate days, which means the same bus returns from Leh. 4. It is convenient for Delhi to Leh travellers to catch the Delhi to Jispa Volvo bus at 8:00pm, reach Keylong the next morning at 11:30am, halt overnight and catch the early morning ordinary bus from Keylong to Leh. In high season and heavy rush, HRTC operates two ordinary buses simultaneously from Keylong to Leh, but I am not sure, if that is exclusively for army personnel or civilians also. I saw a RUclips video showing two buses running on a particular day. The advantage of HPTDC bus besides better comfort is, it halts at all the places of tourist interest on the way, as you rightly put it.

Manali Leh Road has been cleared for 2024 and opened for army vehicles/essentials .. Tourists are not yet allowed and updates are awaited when local administration will start allowing tourists on this route.. Right now only single lane is there so expect limited movement on this highway for next 2-3 weeks. Once tourists are allowed, please plan very carefully and keep up to date on the timings and one-way movements on Manali Leh Highway.. In next 2-3 weeks you should expect disruptions, weather changes and in case you are still planning to take the risk, go prepared with heavy woollen clothing so that you can beat the cold on this adventure highyway.. Hmm bhai agar May end mein karoge ya June mein karoge to better chances honge Manali Leh open hone k.. waise jab aapne plan koya hai hopefully agar weather theek raha to Manali Leh open ho jaayega middle of May tak but open close hota rehta hai May k mahine mein.. May end ya June first week tak hi theek se open hota hai in general.. baaki mere first week of May k update ko aap dekhna

Very informative video! Are only dormitory option is available in Hotel Chandrabhaga? Or, is there any option of booking a separate room by paying additional charges?
You can book that on your own. There are other rooms available as well. Who knows this year onwards HPTDC start giving other room in package but you can always book HPTDC rooms on your own.

Hello Shobha, May is when the season starts of Ladakh. So, it is OK to travel but it is a bit cold. June-July starts getting pleasant.
