Very good video. I went on a Ladakh trip in August 2024 with 4 friends in my car; all 3 were immature for the Ladakh trip and took it very casually. They ditched me and took a flight back to Delhi. Then I drove back to Delhi alone in 3 days. My dream trip is incomplete because of the wrong choice of people.

Thanks for the detailed video, I was looking for something very similar, since my route is almost similar to what you have explained. I am trying to see on map hanle to manali route as of now, but some reason it is just redirecting me via srinagar, it is just not showing any route from pang or tso moriri.
as the route is currently closed hence it is not showing you.. Add one by one these stops Hanle to Karzok to Pang to Sarchu to Manali if you add these stops it should allow you. Otherwise you can drag the route to this road when google map plot it.

I have an Osmo Pocket and iPhone with DJI Gimbal, Osmo Pocket makes timelapses much easier and then with post editing you can basically add dual motion too when taken as steady shots

Hi. Good video but since I will be driving a low ground clearance car was hoping you would have dealt a little more on road conditions. Black top where in 2025 to expect and where roads are still dusty. For eg road from sumdo to tso moriri. Another if one does not take Rezang la then alternate route road condition.

This is a very informative video! I am planning my first trip to Ladakh and was quite confused about the itinerary and route after my initial research. Your video has been incredibly helpful in planning my travel. I am still unsure whether to start from Leh or Srinagar, as we will be traveling by flight. We want to cover Kargil as well. Should we continue with the same cab throughout the trip if we start from Srinagar or will we need to switch? Also, would starting from Srinagar significantly increase the cost of the cab?
very happy to know that my content was useful for you… if you want to visit Kargil then better start from Srinagar side.. it will help you with acclimatization as well as put Kargil in the right spot and plus save a day as well because after flying to leh you will need to rest in Leh then two day trip to Kargil somewhere.. this way probably you save a day as well. if you want single taxi then You can get in touch with local taxi drivers from Leh who can come to pick you up in Srinagar and be there for entire trip. else local srinagar based taxi can drop you to Leh and then you can get Ladakh taxi for rest of the trip. Srinagar to Leh will cost about Rs 20,000-22000 in two days in an innova. Nubra valley also offers the opportunity to indulge yourself in ATV (Quad bike). In fact, there is now also a go kart circuit available in Nubra valley.
can we use the hanle chumur tso moriri lake route instead of nyoma one? heard that the road is too beautiful specially because of ryul lake and the view of tso moriri from top
yes, you can take that and since my last visit on that route in 2023 September, roads have improved a lot. Just don't fly in any: 1. sensitive areas with military presence, 2. any border areas, 3. where it says don't fly drones, Make sure to follow DGCA guidelines.
I have travelled to Ladakh 4-5 times on my bike and explored almost whole Ladakh and zanskar area. I have covered new route in zanskar as well. Can you create one itinerary for north east part of India?
Great question, I'll be sure to cover that in more detail in a future video, stay tuned! For now, as of May 2024, you will find petrol pumps ar following places in Ladakh Leh, Karu near Leh, Diskit in Nubra , Tangtse near Pangong Lake, Nyoma petrol pump which near Hanle and Tso Moriri (Newly operational in 2024), petrol pump is at Nyoma not Hanle or Tso Moriri. Then if you exit on Manali Leh highway from Tso Moriri then next petrol pump will be Keylong. So if you are doing Ladakh circuits as above, you will need to manage about 290 km without petrol pump in case returning to Leh or Karu otherwise if you exit from Tso Moriri to Keylong/Manali then you need to manage about 420 km

It's definitely doable with light walking, especially if you're starting from Srinagar side and follow well acclimatization principles. You can choose to do walks in Leh, there is a heritage walk/hike some folks organize but then all depends on how are you feeling about yourself when you reach there. I will suggest that you listen to your body, key is not to exert if walking feels like exertion then better turn around and return.

What’s the best time to visit in 2023 I covered all the place in Leh but on oct end this time I wanted to see cherry blossom and want to ride in snow so I’m planning may 1st week is it a good time or shall I come earlier
You will need to fly into Leh during that time, there will be plenty of snow at the passes and early May you may see Apricot Blossom as well. Cherry blossom isn't there, it is Apricot Blossom as far as I know.
Generally it opens for one way traffic for tourists around middle of April to end of April or May first week is more predictable. April opening is mostly some days open, other days closed then open then close.. all depends on snowfall and avalanches during early opening of the highway. If this year less snowfall is there then April early it may open but all weather depending. If you want surety then better plan in May/June
Generally thodi bahut problem hoti hai May mein, passes par surely snow hogi to fer wahan ho sakta hai challenge ho.. and Manali Leh early May mein bandh mil sakta hai..
June is a pleasant time and mix of snow at passes and all green views.. passes and lakes will be cold though early june and manali leh baralacha la will have snow

I am planning to visit Leh-Ladakh on April 10th. Is it a good time to go? Will Pangong Lake still be frozen at that time, and will all the roads be open?
It is more or like winter trip only in April, you will most likely need to fly into Leh and then explore the places. Pangong lake most likely remains frozen.
Merak is at Pangong Lake only. Pangong Lake starts at village named Lukung, then comes Spangmik about 15 km ahead, then Man-Merak villages about 10-12 km ahead. All of them are at Pangong Lake and that's where people generally stay as campsites are in villages only.
April is still more or less winter in Ladakh or end of winter you can say. Doing bike trip from Delhi is quite challenging and lot depends on road conditions, luck, your experience as well. Manali Leh Highway is anyways closed and srinagar Leh is quite uncertain too.

Srinagar Leh may be open around April for oneway traffic on alternate days. Manali Leh usual opening is around end of May/first week of June. When I say "open", I mean tourists are allowed to travel. Otherwise, these roads do open quite early now but tourists are not allowed to travel until safe.

yes, you can take that and since my last visit on that route in 2023 September, roads have improved a lot.

Great question, I'll be sure to cover that in more detail in a future video, stay tuned! For now, as of May 2024, you will find petrol pumps ar following places in Ladakh
Leh, Karu near Leh,
Diskit in Nubra ,
Tangtse near Pangong Lake,
Nyoma petrol pump which near Hanle and Tso Moriri (Newly operational in 2024), petrol pump is at Nyoma not Hanle or Tso Moriri.
Then if you exit on Manali Leh highway from Tso Moriri then next petrol pump will be Keylong.
So if you are doing Ladakh circuits as above, you will need to manage about 290 km without petrol pump in case returning to Leh or Karu otherwise if you exit from Tso Moriri to Keylong/Manali then you need to manage about 420 km
Hi, Dhreej ji, we love your videos and plan to follow most of your itinerary. my question is will it be possible to walk 2 to 4 km a day to do the sight seeing.. we are starting our trip from Srinagar .after viewing your video we may spend a day tin sham valley. we will skip the base camp but go to tso moriri lake and back to Leh. but can you please advise light walking where ever possible. thank you very much.
It's definitely doable with light walking, especially if you're starting from Srinagar side and follow well acclimatization principles. You can choose to do walks in Leh, there is a heritage walk/hike some folks organize but then all depends on how are you feeling about yourself when you reach there. I will suggest that you listen to your body, key is not to exert if walking feels like exertion then better turn around and return.

You will need to fly into Leh during that time, there will be plenty of snow at the passes and early May you may see Apricot Blossom as well. Cherry blossom isn't there, it is Apricot Blossom as far as I know.

Generally it opens for one way traffic for tourists around middle of April to end of April or May first week is more predictable. April opening is mostly some days open, other days closed then open then close.. all depends on snowfall and avalanches during early opening of the highway. If this year less snowfall is there then April early it may open but all weather depending. If you want surety then better plan in May/June

I am planning to visit Leh-Ladakh on April 10th. Is it a good time to go? Will Pangong Lake still be frozen at that time, and will all the roads be open?
It is more or like winter trip only in April, you will most likely need to fly into Leh and then explore the places. Pangong lake most likely remains frozen.
Can we cover Merak? we are planning to stay 1 night at Pangong and 1 night at Merak.
Merak is at Pangong Lake only. Pangong Lake starts at village named Lukung, then comes Spangmik about 15 km ahead, then Man-Merak villages about 10-12 km ahead. All of them are at Pangong Lake and that's where people generally stay as campsites are in villages only.

April is still more or less winter in Ladakh or end of winter you can say. Doing bike trip from Delhi is quite challenging and lot depends on road conditions, luck, your experience as well. Manali Leh Highway is anyways closed and srinagar Leh is quite uncertain too.
Please organise a tour as per your experience.

Srinagar Leh Highway will be like one-way traffic for alternate day open, Manali Leh Highway is like 50:50 chance as you will be going towards the end, Roads are uncertain and Ladakh season is opening up only. Lakes are still a bit cold. However, lot of snow on passes to enjoy.

as long as original RC is with you or digilocker app version might work too but it might be poasible network not there at places

By when do you think that the roads of Ladakh will open up?
Srinagar Leh may be open around April for oneway traffic on alternate days. Manali Leh usual opening is around end of May/first week of June. When I say "open", I mean tourists are allowed to travel. Otherwise, these roads do open quite early now but tourists are not allowed to travel until safe.
