No way War Thunder have their model right. The leclerc is still in use in the French military, the design has to be classified. They are just guessing here, especially about the armor.
There was a leak a while back of the Swedish testing data, the Leclerc actually has very poor armour design, especially compared to the export Abrams and Leo 2A4/5.

The armor on the leclerc is completely modular, it's possible to change it completely to suit the needs of the tank, usually we would see the sides fully protected with the sideskurts etc.. It would have been nice from gaijin to make it a modification in game

It’s not that war thunder has modeled the armor wrong. It’s the projectiles they’ve got wrong. A long rod penetrator will shatter if it hits such an extreme angle like the upper glacis plates of the leclerc or abrams (it would be extremely unlikely that both countries who sunk billions of dollars into the design and development of these tanks to leave such a vulnerable weak spot on the front of their main battle tanks).
The composite in the front of the skirt is designed to protect against glancing rounds from the front 45 degree arc. Many tanks have some form of this including the Abrams. The glacis is probably weak because western strategy is generally based around fighting from hull-down defensive positions as well as fast flanking maneuvers.
The reason the upper plate can be penetrated is because Gaijin doesn't calculate sloping properly. Nothing would be able to bite into and penetrate a slope like that.
The composite side skirt allows the tank crew to survive being angled a bit more than without them. If you look when it is angled a bit the skirts protect the crew compartment from HEAT that would go through without them. They also help protect the front sprocket and track from HE from arty and basic AT rockets like RPG-7s fired from the front. IRL a mobility kill is a real thing since you can't fix that damage in combat and being immobile makes you very dead.
@PhilDaily it seems like the hull of the Leclerc really is the (relative) weak point because there is now a joint French-German prototype tank which utilizes the French Leclerc turret on the German Leopard 2 hull, chassis and powertrain. This cooperation between France and Germany is expected to lead to the development of a whole new tank design (mainly by Germany) and a new fighter aircraft (mainly by France). HOWEVER all modern MBT are designed so that plate is sloped in such a way that HEAT won't even get detonated as its too steep of a slope. Even APFSDS is likely to ricochet despite how hard that is to imagine. Outside of the flat angle, it is very vulnerable. Tanks like the Soviet/Russian models have composite there because its not so steep. Also partial protection at the sides are to protect the tank in a frontal 30 degree arc or so. That side skirt ta a 30 degree angle relative to the front would be able to protect everything up to the fighting compartment. It's common on most MBTs

It still suffers the same issue as the T-90. But does not have a laser warning system or a trophy system so it still falls behind the M1A3 ,T-90 , and Merkava. The French MBT is good but not against any super power except china. But its latest model has Data Linked HE rounds that can destroy most modern MBT with its delay explosion that can penetrate most russian and American tanks armor if not detonate and set off inwards into the tank.

It was the absolute king when it was introduced (almost as much as the leo2A5 now) with barely any tank to match it. there was no complaint at the time from USA players. This is Gajin's way of doing it, they put one nation at a time on top. it's never balanced.
I was lucky enough to get into a Leclerc. I gotta say it's quite confortable for a tank. It's engine packs a punch and the tank is quite light. It has a very good tracking and stabilizing system that allows great precision at high speeds. What it lacks in armor it compensate by fast mouvement. Not as loud as the Leopard too.

In the beginning there was spaced armor behind that spot that penetration was not possible for, above and below was not, can't say I know enough about tank design to say it does or doesnt make sense. I think the issue with the slopped part is normally against high angles of attack apfsds rounds would shatter irl, hence why they don’t put any composites on the slope. Basically war thunder doesn’t have it so apfsds can shatter and does really well against almost all angles. Not certain, thats just what I have heard

that front composite on the side is against pretty much any RPG-7/any other Rocket launcher because i think the only rocket that can penn it is the Thermobaric rocket from the RPG-7 idk may be wrong
I think these tanks are designed for almost exclusive hull down positions when fighting, not the blitkrieg style. Also bear in mind that terrain irl isn't flat and tankers would prefer hills that work in favour of their depression.
The Leclerc was design to be efficient on the move, that was the first tank (and always the best on that point) to being able to perform in shot while moving with a great accuracy and high speed on all ground.
It's simple with planes you have to get low fast and stay low until you peep your target then pop up engage then get low fast again it's just like the real thing well in the 80s an early 90s it's one of the basic tactics that they teach on how to engage ground units

Well, by implementing new vehicles and not updating the BR systems things got fucked realy quick realy big time
It's to give time for gaijin to add more vehicles like this and for players to actually get those so they have enough of them to make a full 11.0 battlerating. Right now there's just not enough of them to be at 11.0, there would be almost no vehicle on the battlefield

I see alot of people complaining about the abrams. It was the absolute king when it was introduced (almost as much as the leo2A5 now) with barely any tank to match it. there was no complaint at the time from USA players.
This is Gajin's way of doing it, they put one nation at a time on top. it's never balanced.

I was lucky enough to get into a Leclerc. I gotta say it's quite confortable for a tank. It's engine packs a punch and the tank is quite light. It has a very good tracking and stabilizing system that allows great precision at high speeds. What it lacks in armor it compensate by fast mouvement.
Not as loud as the Leopard too.

In the beginning there was spaced armor behind that spot that penetration was not possible for, above and below was not, can't say I know enough about tank design to say it does or doesnt make sense. And in real life apparently they have been working on increasing the armor, otherwise it's been reported to be a pretty good tank where it has seen action.

I think the issue with the slopped part is normally against high angles of attack apfsds rounds would shatter irl, hence why they don’t put any composites on the slope. Basically war thunder doesn’t have it so apfsds can shatter and does really well against almost all angles. Not certain, thats just what I have heard

I think these tanks are designed for almost exclusive hull down positions when fighting, not the blitkrieg style. Also bear in mind that terrain irl isn't flat and tankers would prefer hills that work in favour of their depression.
The Leclerc was design to be efficient on the move, that was the first tank (and always the best on that point) to being able to perform in shot while moving with a great accuracy and high speed on all ground.

It's simple with planes you have to get low fast and stay low until you peep your target then pop up engage then get low fast again it's just like the real thing well in the 80s an early 90s it's one of the basic tactics that they teach on how to engage ground units
