Ustadh, what if there is no way for the person to advise the ruler? What if going on social media/speaking out is the only way to get his attention?
Social media/speaking out is not the way. It's the forbidden way. When there is no permissible way available, be patient, do inkar with your heart and pray to Allah.
If you can't then you are not going to be hold accountable for something you can't, read the last verses of Suara Baqara brother.

Western Dawah scene is the most toxic. The constant belittlement of various sects. There are Tableeghis, Sunni Ashari, Salafi and Sufi in Saudi and UAE as well, but they don't really fight and belittle 1 another as much as speakers in the Western hemisphere.

Naseehah is done for the sake of Allah, so yes it is an act of worship.
Don't mix-up killing with criticizing. Killing is a grave sin until it has a valid reason.
Today's governments are not elected by Bayah. All These etiquettes are for unanimous leader of Ummah, not secular nation states.
How will you justify the action of Hussain r.a, whom Nabi salallahu alihi wa sallam prophesied as Shaheed. Do you know sunnah more than Hasan and Husain radiallahu anhuma? Do you know sunnah more than Abu Hanifah rahimahullah, who supported Nafs uz zakiyyah? and so on...
Did you forget that your government is following the sunnah of Roman and Persian Empire not the sunnah of prophet Muhammad ﷺ and 4 righteous Caliphs
So does that give you the right to also not follow the sunnah of our Prophet sallallāhu alayhi wa sallam and companions by criticising the rulers openly ? Not saying you are but by asking that question what would you like us to do IF ‘they are not upon the sunnah” should we go against the clear commands we were given by our Prophet sallallāhu alayhi wa sallam ?
So why did you go behind Morsi and Erdogans backs on Twitter?
I think the rulings are different for Muslim Leaders who are going against other Muslim Leaders. Morsi was from among the Ikhwanis if I am not being wrong, and the Ikhwanis have long and hard tried to undermine the rule of other Muslim rulers. Saudi authorities had warned against Ikhwanis who were trying to make masses against the Saudi kingship.
There were issues with Erdogan of course, but things are now on good terms between the middle east and Turkey.
I didnt talk against them. Morsi was not in power when I said egypt is run by ikhwan and i said simply erdogan is a secular, where he said that. This is not a slander or criticism, i merely quoted him. He is a legitimate ruler and we must respect his position.

In 2013, and two months before the coup against Morsi the muslim ruler of Egypt at that time, you started spreading criticism of Morsi the muslim ruler in a country many miles away from where you live. Morsi doesn't have the right to make mistakes as ruler? why do you publicly criticize him?

Three years later, you didn't sit with yourself and said what I've done wrong to the muslim ruler of Egypt, instead you moved your unbelievably vicious interest to another muslim ruler: the head of Turkey.
in 2016, right after the attempted coup to overthrow Erdogan and last time I checked he is a muslim and a ruler of a muslim country, you tweeted "Erdogan is secular, liberal. Calls for liberalism and and advises countries to apply secularism". Where did he say he is secular, where did he say he advises countries to apply secularism???? Even if he did say that, he establishes the prayer, he opens mosques one of them is the huge Aya Sofia that were closed by Ataturk despite the cry out loud of the West, ....etc, he visits muslim countries and recites quran in public....etc. You basically encouraged Turkish conservatives to rebel against a muslim leader who fears Allah even if he made huge mistakes, it shows clearly he fears Allah. Saoudis didn't need Erdogan to apply secularism: they allowed Americans on the muslim holy land to attack another muslim country and all the muslims in it were slaughtered until today, they force pegan rituals like Halloween on Saoudis and visitors, they murder their own citizen in their own embassy on another muslim land and they cut him in pieces ....etc
