Genius freaking Genius TY 👍 ⚠️ Remove all weapons you may have in your home before purchasing and attempting to use these NEST thermostats as it will make you lose your sanity ...😡 And I kinda like those old white box's as UP or Down is all thats needed, plus all the other items in your home won't get broken & most importantly nobody gets seriously hurt.😅 12 other videos claiming similar results yet ONLY you got EVERY step making it 💯 👏

This video is a lifesaver! We came back to our home to find it at 85 degrees because the Nest has a mind of its own. Happy to have a nice simple, old-fashioned thermostat function again!

Question, did you have it set at a lower temperature and when you got home it was still set that way but the temp was showing 85? I hope that makes sense.

This is EXACTLY what happened to me.... I live in TX... I had it set to 81, which is plenty hot and very energy smart. I got home... the house was HOT... I checked to see the actual temperature....it was 85 degrees!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @WordofAdviceTV

I forgot to show how to set the temperatures at the end of the video.. Even though whoever has this thermostat probably already knows but I'll mention it anyway. Basically after doing the steps in the video, you will only need to switch the thermostat to heat or cool mode and after that, you only need to spin the dial to control the temperature and there is no need to even press on it for anything else. And you can also still control your thermostat remotely (from your phone) if you have it connected to your wi-fi. Changing the settings I showed will not disable that feature.

I spent $200 for the boiler to be check out. The technician said the boiler is not the problem, it’s the thermostat. I called Google they said the thermostat wasn’t installed properly. I called the electrician to check the Nest, he said it’s correctly installed and charged $50 for two minutes in my home.
The problem continues until I watch you video. I fixed in two minutes and I’m without my $250

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR MAKING THIS VIDEOS. I’ve spent too many weeks wondering what I was doing wrong that I couldn’t figure out how to use this. The apartment I moved into had this already installed so I was kinda stuck with it and had no idea that the whole thing was supposed to be autonomous. If I set it to 70 it would be at 70 for 10 mins then the air just shut off and it would go back to being freezing. I don’t think the company understands how many people just want ONE STABLE TEMPERATURE throughout the day and night

Thank you so much. This friggin’ thing was driving me crazy with it’s “smart” auto-adjustments to the house temperature. Love the WiFi remote capabilities. Hate the learning auto-temp feature. Also, considering it’s supposed to to be so “smart”, is always wrong when it estimates how long it takes to reach a certain temperature.

    • @TheParot161
      @TheParot161 2 года назад +2

@@rickrosenbloom9605 Yes, the wi-if remote still works. I use the Nest I-phone app often. That being said, my first Nest unit developed a bad wireless chip not long after installation. I did troubleshooting and determined that the wi-if function had failed. Google sent me a free replacement. It hadn’t been installed very long before the cooling function on it failed. It would heat, but no A/C. So, I paid for a third Nest (I swore if it failed I wouldn’t be buying another), and it has worked great, wi-fi Nest app and all.

Hey Jay.....you are a life saver. I have checked online several times. But its nothing like hands on (visual). For one year in an apartment complex no one could actually explain how to work this nest to ones advantage. Like the gentleman; I also hated it. I was constantly up and down changing the temperature. It was driving me nuts. And forget about when I'm sleeping in bed. Who wants to get up in the middle of the night to change a temperature gauge or NEST thing. So I would mainly suffer with the heat. Today I said to myself, there has got to be something online Your site came up! Fantastic!! Thank you so much! I am happy after one year of misery. From the elderly . I'm looking for more of you. One serious consequence was losing sleep because thermostat changed settings in the middle of the night without warning, causing us to wake up. 100% agree! I’ve lost so much sleep (and therefore, much productivity during my days) due to random drastically increased temps throughout the night which lead to miserable sleeping conditions! I’d set the entire weekly temp schedule only to wake up and see that it was not at the scheduled temp & that at different hours of the night it was 77-78 degrees! When you live in very hot climate and it’s summer this doesn’t make for a happy morning🥵

Thanks for the video this is the 2nd time i referenced to it. People you may want to do this every 6 months or so. Ive noticed that the smart features seem to magically reset themselves so i would recommend to redo these steps every 6 months. Glad for the video i was ready to take the hammer to the NEST.

Dude this advice is fantastic. The nest thermostat is too fiddly and does it’s own thing too much, and the WiFi breaks in the unit! We rent, and the nest was heating our house to 78 and reading 72. And it was cold right before bed, and crazy hot at midnight. You’re a lifesaver.

Incredible, thanks! And I understand technology but for some reason even though I set it and wanted to go manual at times when temps changed drastically, it never seemed to reach the manual temps I set. So, this was a blessing on a 90 + degree night!!! Thanks, appreciate you!

THANK YOU!!! My son in law found your video as we wanted it to keep the temp i set it to. And for it to NOT TRY TO ANTICIPATE what we want/need. Nest would do themselves a favor to have a button to switch to manual if we want when we install or decide that is what we want at a later date which will override everything else.

If this works it will literally be a life savor. Our nest thermostat has been a menace here in Texas. It's 109 outside and the thermostat switches to 80+ degrees in the house then when you turn it down, it takes almost an hour running to get the house cooled back down. It's not saving any electricity at all and has made our home unbearable at times. Thank you for your video!

Wow! Went from zero to hero with this GREAT how-to video. His comment "unfortunately Nest does not make this easy" is right on the money (money that is that I was just about to pay our HVAC guy, but kept in my own pocket). I simply wrote down his step-by-step instructions and followed them to a "new" totally manual Nest. Very many thanks.

Dear goodness THANK YOU!! I am in the very same position as your client; the home already came with Nest thermostat which I can’t stand; instead of a smart thermostat, I just want a standard dummy thermostat that does one job it has properly - keep the temperature I set it to!
I was ready to rip this thing out of the wall (I’d much rather have an ugly thermostat that works over something that works _too_ well that it doesn’t) but you saved my sanity. Thank you!!

Thank you, thank you, the manual didn't mention any of this and without applying all of these steps it just continued to act like it was possessed. My wife and I were tearing our hair out. I kept telling her I told it not to do that, but it keeps doing that. We were at the point of having the thermostat replaced too.

VERY VERY HELPFUL!!!! This has been driving us crazy! Nest is beyond complicated - I would prefer a simple on/off thermostat - did not need or want all these features but got stuck with them when new heater was installed a couple of years ago. This has taken too much time and attention to figure out - it's not a "smart" device for us at all! You are GREAT for posting this video. And now we HAVE a simple manual thermostat. NEST should pay you for helping its customers!

Next time I visit her we can finally wipe it's over controlling brain so she can get some rest. God Bless you for the help! Sincerely, Bob S, Maj Ret, Canada...

Thank you Jay. I have been searching a solution for this issue since last almost 2 years. Nest AI is absolutely ridiculous and off the mark. I have lost literally 1000s of dollars in increased electricity bills because of this ridiculous autosense feature. I wanted full manual control over my thermostat and thanks to you, I have achieved it today. I wish I should have found you much sooner. I have liked your video, subscribed to your channel and set notifications to 'All', at least that much I can do for this money saving advice which you have given here. Cheers.

OMGGGG. Winter in utah and this thing definitely has a mind of its own. Woke up to 55 degrees and couldn't get it to heat up NOW. Plus we have neighbors below (one thermostat) asking us to turn the heat up, and we're like "uhhhh we're trying!" Thank you so much man! Seriously! Coldest morning of my life.
