Yeah I hate to just be an internet agitator but I think talc is why Johnson & Johnson had to pay out all that money in the baby powder lawsuits. Pretty sure it was causing cancer
@@-RyN-23 I do not recommend breathing anything but fresh air. Always wear a dust protector, whether sanding a ship or filling talcum or corn into a bin, whether transporting pellets or working in a sawmill.
I agree. It struck me, whilst watching this video, that with all that dust (nothing is good for you if you inhale it), you guys should be wearing propper industrial air filter masks. We don't want you to suffer from 'Farmer's Lung' in your later years.
What I learned from a chemical engineering class was that inside surface of lungs are completely covered in moisture. Anything that absorbs moisture will immediately adhere to this moist surface. Substances like talc, cement et cetera will build up cumulatively. Lungs can only keep up by taking several days of coughing after each exposure, if they aren't given a break or otherwise can't keep up the exposure causes permanent damage, which, once again compounds. Some of these compounds you inhale cause far more damage than smoking. Wear properly rated masks according to the directions that are included with all of the compounds and chemicals you use.
Laura and Grant I really like you both and want you to live long productive lives. To that end please wear the proper PPE whenever you are around all of that dust, talc or otherwise. Farming is a vitally important industry but just like logging and fishing it can be very dangerous. Do what you can to protect yourselves. Call me a nervous Nellie if you want, I know all the old timers would but my dad who was a safety inspector always reminded me that safety rules unfortunately are always reactive and never proactive. God bless you both.
We ceramics people use N95 masks at a minimum when moving dry material and pouring. Put on your masks talc and such stays in the air. You are both young and healthy. Stay that way.
This has become my favorite RUclips channel. I work for a company that publishes farming magazines(Farm Progress - Nebraska Farmer, Kansas Farmer and others). And I don’t know anything about farming but this channel has taught me a lot.
Great video. I’m pretty old & remember excitement when we upgraded to 4 row planter behind the JD 70 2 banger PS all your support equipment have Honda small engines, don’t ever use anything else - I’ve got some 30 years old that still starts with 2 pulls 😊😊😊
You guys work so well together. Great video people don't realize how much work goes into farming. Such long hours definitely not a 8 to 5 job. Love watching. ❤
Hi. I'm farming in the UK 🇬🇧 For young farmers your doing a very impressive job.. Trying to convert your fuel, seed ect is complicated, we work in hectares not acres and our liguids are in litres/hectare, and seed amounts in kilos/hectare. Made me cringe when using the powder, cricky were are your dust masks?? Very impressed with the seed cart and your fuel station is brilliant. We don't plant maize/corn we grow Wheat and Peas for freezing aka vining peas. Keep up the good work Regards Jono Dixon UK Farmer
Laura, I used to work with talc at a plastics injection molding plant. Please wear a mask when pouring that compound. Trust me, your lungs will thank you.
I like watching all your videos and I agree with some of the comments that you guys need to wear more safety equipment. One thing to also mention. Long hair can get caught up in a lot of places. You don’t want to lose your hair and your scalp. Please be careful and put that up in a bun or under some kind of a hat. Best wishes from Jacksonville,, Ill.
You two make the best content👍👍 I love watching all the amazing equipment and tools..also thank you for explaining things as you film..very helpful for us armchair grain farmers
So great to watch you and Grant working your farm together. Teamwork makes your Dreamwork ❤️❤️❤️ Scotty is on protective duty while you are in the fields, and he’s doing his job of keeping the icky mice from surprising you when you least expect it 😅 You guys had an awesome day, and it always shows in your smiles. Love ❤️ you two so much! Grammy
I absolutely love watching your channel. I don’t even know how to run into you either way I’d love it. I was raised on the country. My dad farmed anyway I would love to see what you and Grant cook.
Never thought watching a tractor go back and forth could be so amazing! I do miss in the beginning you were never done at the end of a video so you'd say goodbye, and then another little bit and then goodbye and another little bit. So much fun! Of course now you're a well oiled operation and bye means bye! LOL!
I like that small tender compared to the ones others use. Very effective and not so dang big that its a pain to load. I guess you have to use a pro box instead of bags, so there is that. Scottie is a conscientious watcher and protector. Thats a good cat! Love that far field time lapse. Thats kind of unique in the farm youtube-verse!
Growing up as a person, growing food, growing your business, growing your marriage. WOW! So much hard work and the blessings therein. May your blessings extend for many years and to growing a family!
Actually both. The corn goes to the ethanol plant--but the corn mash left over after alcohol fermentation is used for cattle feed. And they grow soybeans, too--which is like the Universal Ingredient in all sorts of packaged foods.
Never bored of watching how farmers like yourself get it done. everyone has a slightly different process and way to overcome hiccups which makes it interesting. Your explanation of what is going on is also entertaining sometimes. You manage to convey the excitement that you have been building through the late winter and early spring through the camera. Same for Harvest last year. You have the ability to build anticipation just in how you choose to talk about what is coming up. Makes for GREAT content.
They have worked really hard the last couple of yrs to get that equipment. Last yr they were borrowing equipment to operate. This yr it looks like they have worked hard and bought what they needed. They are a young couple just starting out. They have come a long way in a short period of time.
It's amazing that they can plant in Nebraska. The fields in Minnesota are so wet where I am that you couldn't possibly get into the fields now and it just snowed last week.
You are a breath of fresh air! You present yourself in a positive attitude! I know it's not easy being a startup creator myself. I see you're nearing 1/2 M subscribers! I'm nearing 500 subscribers.
Your equipment amazes me and I can't imagine the expense. Scottie is adorable. I love cats and and a little girl I found a black kitten and raised it on an eye dropper. Loved that cat and had her many years. no this has been most interesting. All the best!
Laura and Grant are awesome at letting us non-Farmers know and see how hard farming is. Was wondering on the Laura's Farm Fuel Trailer I believe it has a compressor so couldn't you also clean the air filters on the Tractor?
Good job guys.... I know that it seems like a easy job (to some folks watching) just sitting in that comfy seat but to sit there for that many hours is hard work..... good luck on the rest of planting season....
Laura & Grant, I love watching all the different parts of your operation, from refuelling to loading your seed tanks. It is a lot better than lifting 50lb bags of seed around. Love and best wishes from Mike. ❤
Love the way you added time-lapse so we can see a broader view, and see behind the scenes of Grant filming you. And your passion and join for planting makes all that crazy hard work almost seem fun. Love you guys. Keep up the awesome work.
Amazing! So different from the 1950's-60's. I used to have to depend on the coulter track to guide my planting. Amazing!😀 Oh, and all of that field dust - I wore a bandana across my nose and mouth (and spit mud once in a while too!) No climate controlled cabs back then. No GPS. So much different!
Good Luck Laura hope y'all get a nice steady light rain and I hope your harvest is good and you make lots of money for your hard work and many hours of commitment, Have a nice evening and get some sleep gal.
I to say Grant is the luckiest man in the world to have a beautiful lady like you that I can plant all the corn I'm probably plant anything else she wanted
Jumping Jacks... you two are adorable together. "Pull the lever, Kronk". lol I love your videos and I ALWAYS learn something about the world of farming.
Hiya laura and grant I just love the way you guys work together it is just awesome just to watch take care you two ill keep watching your amazing videos
Talc and powdered graphite are not good for our bodies, especially when inhaled. Please get and use PPE when working with these two materials I am saying this from my own experience. I worked for a company in an industry that also used talc and powdered graphite. We made underground fuel tank liners. The material that we used to make the liners was a natural rubber that would fuse itself together. We used the talc and powdered graphite by the 55 gallon barrel to "dust" the liners material throughout the process to keep it from sticking together. Several people became very sick from being exposed to the talc and graphite without proper protective equipment.
I would imagine that that old pot on Johnny Appleseed's head would be a flipping if he happened upon Laura and Grant's planting operation in full swing!
We love your content and we watch your contents so keep it up and nobody will stop you yess i am right and i want this life love you from India we hope some farmers will do this same thing as you do
I’m a collision tech. Please Grant and Laura, wear masks when handling that stuff. You guys are young. Whole healthy lives ahead of you.
Yeah I hate to just be an internet agitator but I think talc is why Johnson & Johnson had to pay out all that money in the baby powder lawsuits. Pretty sure it was causing cancer
Its because it can contain asbestos. Thought so. Talcum itself if clean is safe.
Talc can be safe but the extra carbon that's in it like he said it's very destructive to the body
@@-RyN-23 I do not recommend breathing anything but fresh air. Always wear a dust protector, whether sanding a ship or filling talcum or corn into a bin, whether transporting pellets or working in a sawmill.

The same thought went through my mind when I saw the dust kicked up.
Please take care farmers, we need you , so stay healthy and protect yourselves from such strong chemicals. We care for you Laura and Grant.
Laura and Grant, I agree. You are both young. Wear a mask. You will thank us later in life!!! Love your channel, from Canada!!!
Laura and Grant I really like you both and want you to live long productive lives. To that end please wear the proper PPE whenever you are around all of that dust, talc or otherwise. I always tell you l love you Laura 🥰
♫ Late nighst in the Corn Field's ♫ ♪ ♫............Sound like a good country song there.....😁😆
Great Job guys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't have to go back and see any early video's because I have seen them all, HA!.
t hose totes sure are better than slinging 50 lb bags all day long
I like the little tractor on the field display screen
Me too
Amen on the dust masks.
Those tractor snacks have nothing to do with nutrition, it's just something to do when you're in there for hours 😆
We ceramics people use N95 masks at a minimum when moving dry material and pouring. Put on your masks talc and such stays in the air. You are both young and healthy. Stay that way.
Laura, Brad, Keep Moving. The world needs farmers. Show everyone where there food comes from. Great Job.
Hello from Germany !!!😀😀😀
I am amazed at the large amount of large equipment used in modern farming today.
