    My little sister loved this game and used to play everyday in our old 486 PC (It was early 90's and we also used to argue about who uses the PC first... I used to play games like Stunts or Prince meanwhile she loves to play Commander Keen)
    Unfortunately she passed away in 2005 due to unexpected heart failure. Years later finally found a copy of Commander Keen 4 in order to keep my sister's memories. If one day have my own children perhaps they would play it !

    They just had to use Commander Keen to advertise their new game. They really couldn't have just made a new ip... No kid knows what this is, and it'd be easier to make a different character.

      I can imagine that Commander Keen 7-9 would have been created with the Wolfenstein 3D engine as well with the Wolfenstein 3D palette.
      Have at least read that they should have VGA graphics and triple-parallax scrolling.

    A fantastic memory of my sister and I playing computer games in the mid 90s. Dad was/is a computer science major, so anything "tech" since 1996, we had in our home. Even as poor as we were. Dad knew the value of having technology in our home.
    I am 33 yrs old and One of my first tech memories is sitting with my sister in her bedroom playing Commander Keen, Lemmings, or Doom while listening to Cranberries, Alanis morissette, or stone temple pilots on the local Oklahoma "grunge rock" radio station. That shit was golden.

      Alas u can't grab every point an' item in this game, as several of them are unreachable without cheating (most notable at the Cave of Descendents and Lifewater Oasis). So thanks to these design flawz, u can't do a clean sweep on every levul.

    44:26 so *that's* how you get those two donuts! I don't think I ever tried the pogo; I always just assumed it wouldn't work as well as regular jump. XD. I played this game so much I still remember just about everything about it. BTW, John Romero confirmed that it's not possible to get the lifewater flasks at the bottom of Lifewater Oasis 1:03:03. He apologized about that, said he forgot to make a way to get them!

    • @iankotch4497
      @iankotch4497 9 месяцев назад

      There is actually one way to get the flasks....no clipping mode cheat in game. But without, you are correct. My question is, what is with those "Edge of Map" tiles at the bottom at 1:06:03?

    this & the commander keen on mars with babysitter in demo were on the computer that was in the basement which sadly died away. wish i could play commander keen 1-9 on the computer. can't get a hold of it on a chrome that is likely on its last legs. of the commander keen vids i've watched today you are the 1st 1 to bother playing all levels while making an effort to obtain every possible point that can be obtained. you would probabiliy make more of an effort to get every possible point on the rest of the commander keen games.
