Martin Luther King, Jr.'s Home

As many people celebrate African American history this month many Troy students and residents in the surrounding areas do not have to travel far to get a walk through the home of one of the major civil rights leaders.

Just look at this modest house owned by a man who made $8,000.00 annually. The median income in America in 1968 was $7,700.00. So basically, Dr King, inspite of having all the opportunity to line his pockets chose selfless honesty. For example, Dr King was awarded the Nobel prize and around $250,000 and donated the money to the civil rights moent. So basically, Dr King have away (1968 dollars)
Not taking into account inflation; thirty years of income. Now fast forward to 2024 and the So called leaders of the civil rights movment who claim to stand on Dr. King's shoulders are lining their pockets and are worth millions of dollars. I doubt the likes of Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton would even dream of living at the modest standard of living Dr King did. I also doubt they would put them selves in harms way like Dr King did.
