  • So a new generation of the compact Honda CR-V is upon us. For the first time in the Canadian market, the CR-v is now available as a hybrid. The $5500CAD upcharge to the top trim Touring provides an excellent product that is so well put together, it makes you wonder why you'd upgrade to a premium-badged rival. Please enjoy this review sad share your thoughts down below!

Could not agree more. Bought the US spec 23 1.5 and it really does have an Audi vibe. Well built and very safe. Revised chassis and AWD system feels good. Great review.

Well done review. I've had one for about a month and I'm tickled with it so far - I'm easily exceeding 40 mpg average and it's performing superbly on pavement and on moderately severe dirt roads. Can't wait for summer!

I'm divided on Not having a spare tire but know that 80% of modern day drivers cannot change a flat when stranded and have never used a plug kit to fix a tire at all; They would rather call a service truck.

You mentioned in the back the headroom is a bit tight, how tall are you? Your height would be a very helpful piece of information when considering a spec like headroom.

WELL...DUDES... I have gotten myself this WONDERFUL MACHINE.... I know I do because this is NOT my first HONDA and NOT my first MACHINE... in 2016 I had to impress the Jones's in my hood, so I bought a Mercedes...not just a Mercedes... but an AMG...GLA 45, that's 375 hp in a 1.9 litre 4 cylinder engine...BIG BOOSTED Turbo, more than a SCOOBIE and under warranty... years later a friend gave me a 5 min ride in his 2017 HONDA Ridgeline and Lo and behold it was "Time for a TRUCK" bought a Black Edition Ridgeline and with Trade in of the AMG... one almost paid for the other... but OUT came the TOUGHER looking 2021 Honda Ridgline and this time I upgraded to the WHITE BLACK Edition... YES sales people see the L on my forehead.... WELL, speed forward to DEC 9th 2022... went to have the SNOW Tires put on the Ridgeline and was ENTICED...to have a LOOK at this NEW Hybrid New Model of CR-V.... from a Truck back to an SUV ? why? A CHANGE again? I didn't want WHITE and the ONE that this certain dealership had in White was already SOLD... I sat in it for 1/2 an hour being VERY impressed... but then, so was my Ridgeline? BUT I had a rough year and needed a CAR FIXX... again... so, found that another dealership had a URBAN GRAY PEARL one in STOCK and FOR SALE... meaning... NOT SOLD ALREADY... that was Dec 12th.... I went there to "HAVE A LOOK" at the colour... BOOM SOLD... they gave me a PRETTY GOOD TRADE in VALUE on the relatively NEW 2021 Ridggy... and so the Deal was done... I picked it up on DEC 24th...2022.... MY Christmas GIFT to myself... I let them keep it in the SHOWROOM as its the ONLY one they and any other dealership had here in Canada... till the next one at this dealership would come in... APRIL 2023... some person came in and saw it and wanted them to SELL it to him... even offered 70K... if he had called me I'd have split the 10K with the dealership... 60 / 40 of course... BUT, I tell you... this is QUITE a MACHINE... RIDE, FINISH...comfort and IT'S BEAUTIFUL... got Awesome rims and winter tires... so the 19" will be swapped onto the CR-V Probably last week of MAY... I got the 18" ENKEI SVX RIMS in Gun Metal.... Perfect match... all in... 60K. so Ouch but I'll get it all back in Government subsidies ? is it not an Electric Vehicle ...although a Hybrid??.... Now that is a REVIEW to go with your EXCELENT Review...

Nice looking, well built car. I think its purpose in life is mostly fuel economy; I wouldn't buy it as it is too expensive for its goal. Honda generally doesn't negotiate much on price in my experience. I wouldn't but the 1.5L turbo; I think the engine is too small for the size of car (forgetting the history of coolant dilution of the oil). Not sure where Honda is going with their designs.

I never liked Honda design, Its lack of depth, classy and longevity. Honda cars' look will get outdated quite soon. Look at their old cars comparing to Japanese manufacturers like Toyota and Subaru.
Reliability wise Honda is decent, but not as great as Toyota, or even Mazda.
Hybrid technology wise Toyota will just smile, you know what I mean. Toyota was the first one to introduce and keep on improving and producing Hybrid cars for more than 20 years, in fact they are on the 4th gen of hybrid technology and millions cars were sold in past 2 decades. Search for their reports of reliability and that says something.
If I put my money on hybrids, I would never hesitate to pick a Lexus or Toyota (they share the same drivetrains and platforms on many series, ex: ES and Avalon shares the same platform, common hybrid power train is a 2.5L i4 and 1/2 motors and a top trim setup would always is a 2.4L Turbo i4 and 1/2 electric motors). And lastly Toyota hybrids have better MPG.
