I need to find you and fish with you to add some species to my life list. Over 16 years of fishing in my lifetime, I have only 22 species. Not bad, but could be a lot better.
It's getting tougher up here near the bay area to. There is a creek about 10 minute walk from my house. 2-3 months ago a typical day was 3-4 fish an outing. Now that the weather is getting colder they're getting less and less willing to bite.
Extreme Philly Fishing very sad reality in most of socal. smaller lakes and ponds are all we have and they are often overfished during spawning season. too many bass and crappie are taken out of the lakes and it destroys the population. me and my dad have seen too many people with coolers keeping the spawning fish to eat 😔
Idubzz needs to start a fishing channel right now
I'd settle for just these collabs :D
iDubbbz
Unless you go into the mountains, Bluegill, minnows & maybe a small bass is all you'll find in any creeks in Socal.
loads of green sunfish.. in some places, goldfish, mosquitofish, etc too..
Yep pretty much it. What kind were you expecting?
In the bigger streams ive found carp and even trout, the best thing to do is just wait till its crawdad season
iDubbz is doing his next documentary on Leo.
iDubbbz
@@skullcrushers1000 iDubbbbz
iDubbbz doesn't upload on his own channel yet here he is in fishing videos out of no where.
Hard to believe this is the same man in the Hair Cake video
Sam compare now to like the starwars history where the Jedi went into hiding after order 66 and idubbbz survived order 66 and is in his own dagobah normally doing his squirrel videos
Yes there are trout in California, the mountains have Rainbow and Golden Trout (endemic to Sierra Mts) in Northern Cali there is also Cutthroat Trout. As far as the lowland streams of Southern and Central Cali I do not think there are any Native game fish species, everything is introduced like panfish, bass and catfish.
Thanks for sharing! I appreciate the information.
Extreme Philly Fishing there are natives in San Diego. A little east tho. Very rare tho
There is one run of steelhead in southern CA.
Josh Black and wilds south of lake cuyamaca and in the sweet water river
Extreme Philly Fishing sac river has native trout, world class fishery
How did you become friends with Ian??
I replied under one of his videos. He DMed me on IG. And...eh...things just happened from there. Lol.
Extreme Philly Fishing Perks of being verified on RUclips I guess.
@@ladyathenaofowls That, and the fact that my comment got thousands of likes. 😈
that’s cool one day can i fish with you sometime?
Mike Hunt he ain’t gonna fish with yo ass 😂
You need to go more north of California..like sf Bay or Sacramento CA ,Antioch ca...
Agreed and Suisun Marsh region. Tons of different species there, too.
Right? I've never fished in So-cal, but up here we have tons of different fish.
I feel like you might be the star in idubbbz next documentary
14:09 I’ve never seen someone that frustrated before
If you ever find yourself in SoCo(southern Colorado) , we have some nice fishing here. Where I am is right on the Arkansas river. There are a couple of man-made lakes in my city that have some nice walleye, trout of various species, catfish, carp, and bass of various species. It seems like you never know what you'll pull out of the Arkansas.
At some point go to thousand oaks California there is a park with a creek and it is filled with arroyo chub
Thanks for sharing! I will keep it in mind.

Already liked the video I just know it’s gonna be a good one! Loved the California trip!
Love all your content. Especially love learning the Latin names of fish.
It is nice to see how you admire the beauty of our San Diego California thank you
Ian casually messing with fire-ants... I mean, sure they don't hurt too bad, but it sure as hell lasts a long time.
Went to war with those things in my backyard for almost a decade. Fire-ants aint nothin' to fuck with.
I thought this whole idubbz thing was a joke
Always good to get home from work to another good epf video. In California further north there's something called a Sacremento Perch, that may be worth adding to your life list.
10:11 “YoU’vE gOt To Be KiDdInG mE” love it keep it up philly
Lmao how’d you get a hold of him i wanna see more 👏👏👏👏
I simply commented under his video. From there, it just happened. Lol.

iDubbz be showing of for you hahaha what a goofball. What a good dude. Seemed like a good time.
I haven't really fished much but I really enjoy these videos
Nice fishing video dude keep up the good work and have a great day fish on tight line's 💪💪💪💪💪💪💪💪
Most of the water and freshwater species are in northern California. Our trout are the original rainbow trout that were planted everywhere on the world over 100 years ago. Ironically most runs are endangered. We also have giant king salmon, sturgeon, and many other native species on the Sacramento San Joaquin Delta region. Lots of different native trout species in the mountain streams here.
Love the CSI Miami reference. Can almost hear Baba OReilly by the who rocking out right now
Being able to catch big blue gill and an LMB in a small creak is awesome! Guess you’ll have to look elsewhere for some new species bro! Salt water is where it’s at in Cali at this time of the year.
“Oh maaaaayyyunnnn, that’s a jumbo!” 🤠
San diego stream fishing is not good lol. You gotta go way inland to the rivers to get the trout
Dammm bro I’m from Oceanside that would of been epic. Fishing with live bait is the way to go on the west when saltwater fishing. Love the videos keep up the awesome work.
Now this is an unexpected collab
MY TWO FAV RUclipsRS
This place is beautiful, has great fish, congratulations your fishing was amazing. Hug and good fishing!👍
Well if it ain't my favorite combo :))
That's fishing Leo. Thanks for the videos!
I love the videos. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge.
There are indeed trout in california! The western/eastern sierras as well as northern california and the Owen's valley (my favorite place to go) has some amazing freshwater fishing...I'd love to show you around!
I love your introductions!!!
Come to north and central California, we have tons of cold water salt and freshwater species you likely don’t have. We also have isolated native trout strains only found here!
@EPF you should look into going up The High Sierras about 6 hours north of OC up HWY 395
Specially check out Bishop CA
German Browns, Brook, CutThroat, and stocked Rainbow Trout can be found up in the higher elevations
And Small Mouth, Large Mouth, CatFish, Carp, Sacramento Perch, and Blue Gill are found down in the valley.
Go to Inyo or Mono county websites and you’ll find all the info you need.
Hope you check it out
SoCal has plenty to offer if you know the right spots.
That’s dedication. 5 hour plane trip for Bluegill 😂🤣 Just messing.
The struggle was real, bro..😂😂😂
Trout season just started here in SoCal!!! Check out the local lakes that stock trout and you’ll have a blast fishing for quality fish
No apologies for a rough day of fishing. Ya got us Hooked regardless bro. Keep up the Great vids Leo. Stay confident :)
what legend even got Idubbz to join him.
Miss you idubbbz
lol my man, good to be out fishing thats for sure , tight lines 🎣
There’s the salmon runs in the rivers up in the Sacramento area...I highly suggest it...so much fun...
Hey Leo. I love your videos! I’ve heard you mention I think that you are a physicist? I work in radiology in a healthcare setting and I was just wondering in what capacity do you practice physics?
There's trout within 100 miles of OC. They would never survive in water like that though, no oxygen. Not sure how the drought has treated them, but there are several nice trout streams on both slopes of the San Gabriels. On the North slope, the two I fished the (I left 20 years ago) most, Big Rock and Littlerock creeks, between the two I have caught rainbows, browns, cutthroat & hybrids, brookies, and goldens, but mostly wild born rainbows interbred from how ever many dozens of strains they have stocked over the years. The rainbows high up Littlerock Creek honestly rival goldens in their beauty. I think you need wilderness passes to get there though.
Thanks for sharing! I appreciate it.
that was a nice jumbo blue gill!
Hey, Leo, I've been curious about something for a while: There are some popular species of fish which seem to appear in bodies of water all over the continent. However, often these same fish are in completely unrelated bodies of water. Have they been introduced around North America, or do you think they've spread through natural means?
Very likely. As far as gamefishes go, most of them were introduced at a certain point in history.
keck it Leo, back in the day 15 yrs old.central California, Tempelton,ca. Paso Robles Creek. the creek is a trib. to the Salinas river which runs south to north, shit you not. it dumps into Monterey Bay. I'm writing a frickin book, sorry, caught aTench!!!!! 1lb max. it's different here on the left coast.
Highway 180 from Fresno California if you go east to Kings Canyon there’s a nice River that runs through there I pick up a lot of produce out of that area every time I go through there it looks like a good spot if you ever out in the Fresno California area look it up
Literally nobody, cuz everyone knows:
Leo, who knows that everyone how Ian, but still does it cuz collab: **puts IDubbbz channel IDs in the video**
If in NorCal.... San Jose Ca Campbell/Los Gatos area, to be a little bit more specific can be good spot for you. Just my opinion, for the type of videos that you make, and all beaches anywhere from Monterey-Santa Cruz to half moon bay jetty’s- Sf is1 hour away from San Jose. It’s in the middle of everything, but of course your micro fishing would take place anywhere in cAmpbell or Los Gatos.
I appreciate the suggestion. Thanks for sharing.
Extreme Philly Fishing no worries. It might be a long shot, but but thought I’d put it out there.
Ooooooooweeeeeee u tell the dubs to get to eslayin
I'm just glad you were safe in California I don't want to bash the place but I've been there..I know it's a tough town USA but California can get crazy ..good video man
The east coast fishing blows the west coast away. Oh and he was 100% going to litter had you not said anything.
should have made edupz do the intro lol
This is good stuff, keep it up :)
not the corssover i ever expected but alright
Leo, actually their are 11 species of trout native to only California. I myself have caught 8 out of the 11. If your ever trying to knock a couple off let me know. 4 of the species are in my home waters
You should try to come to LA county! In Long Beach! There’s a few ponds here that I would looove to see you fish here. Also I know a few places for trout/catfish not her in the LA county area though but it’s pay to get in, they have thunder trouts there also
DAYYUM, A COLLAB WITH IAN???? GOLD COLLAB
You need to go to the mountains of California for the good freshwater fish
jinxed yourself!
Definitely did. 😫
You should start a new series on your channel were you get big youtubers to fish with you
Hey EPF, in which video do you get stopped for your bazooka gear case? I can't find it. :(
love the socal series, i got a spot in northern san diego that has a species called red eye bass and they are everywhere hmu next time you are out here
Good job!
Go hit the The Sierra Grand Slam
You need to catch the Four or Five species of Native and Non Native Trout In So Cal
Add iDubbbz to the "FOLKS I RECOMMEND ;)" part on your channel
We catch bluegills like that and bigger all the time in Wisconsin
Hey Leo i'm pretty sure that was a spotted bass if you don't have one already
Tyler Ownbey nope, spots have noticeable horizontal lines going up their white scales
FISH FOR TROUT!!!!!!!!!!!!
Welcome to Orange County. Hope I can meet with you.
I saw in that Vice documentary about Joji that he also likes to go fishing... :D might as well try!

In which video you caught the lobster? Really wanna see that~
I see why idubbbz likes you
Please tell about the tonago to catch small fish i missed it. Thanks ol buddy
Mabe show it up close and were to get the tonago i. Think that's how to spell it
bruh your audio only come out of my left headphone
Is your intro inspired by customgrow420?😂😂
Are you ever going to come to California again
Hell yeah
“Are there trout in California” 😑😑 come on leo😂
Its_ Lucas do u realize that northern Cali is cold and it isn’t all San Fran
should've went to San Vicente for some 3 pound bluegills
12:41
You are welcome
Hey Leo!
I'm confused.... Where's pink guy 🤔
just a bluegill....huh..better than nothing
.....You need to try STEELHEAD fishing man
Leave the " Fire Ants " alone ! When they come out ,they come out " en-mass " and can be very bad for some people. Here in Volusia Co. Florida we have a lot of the Fire Ants this year due to rain and warm weather. Too bad for us. Here ya go 3000 miles to catch Bluegills and "small Bass " ? Beter stay a bit closer to the East Coast eh. Better luck next time. Tom Daytona Beach, FL.
Come the they bay
fish the LA river or ballona creek
I appreciate the suggestion. Thanks for sharing.
@@extremephillyfishing there's also trout up in the angeles national forest
Over here in the uk we have a saying, "UP SHIT CREEK WITHOUT A PADDLE". Need i say more! You also say theres a shortage of fresh waters to fish. Id say, there must be a shortage of "Dunnies". Get over to the uk! Theres no shortage of fresh water lakes, ponds, rivers and canals and not a Blue gill or Largey in sight.... OH!!! and plenty of toilets : - )
It's a Green Ear Sunfish, Not a bluegill
CAN U TELL ME WHERE THIS IS?? I live here
