Hey Queen Eva, I have both and I really like the dry down of the gold bottle, I received a lot of compliments and I almost like it better than the black bottle, I love fragrances with plum, truffle, booze....I’ll keep both bottles cause it is a slight difference imo....
I love black orchid! I have several Tom fragrances, but that one is one of my favs. I think I pd about $100 and it was a steal. Flankers don't really move me and I wouldn't have bought it anyway, but thanks for the info. Im on a perfume buying hiatus right now, but I am saving my coins for my next acquisition... I just got a sample of the black orchid and omg i am in heaven. I absolutely love it! it starts out strong but oh my goodness when it wears down it is so nice. I want to wear it everyday that is how much I love it. I trust your opinion about fragrances so I had to get the sample of the black orchid and I love it so much. OH NO !!!!! I like the new version better . I love the boozy aspect / RUM .i had the older version and that dryness gives it more masculine appeal . Original is good but the gold one suits me better .I may do a small 10 ml because Rose Prick and Soleil neige have stolen my heart in a awesome way .
I purchased the edp a few years ago and ended up giving it away to my mother in-law...couldn't take those old lady floral..I did love the truffle tho...the Gold bottle is perfect for a man who likes the black orchid dna without those florals 💪🏾

Well I have the original one and it's one of my signature scents so freaking love it but I was curious about the gold one as I heard too many positive reviews about it. I tried it out and the opening was too strong for me almost repulsive. But let me tell you that about an hour later it dried down soooo beautifully on my skin and smelled heavenly ✨️ so so sexy like I was wearing the most expensive lotion on earth it smelled very luxurious on me and had many compliments on it. 💛
I've always preferred Black Orchid on a man personally. You may appreciate Tom Ford's Noir de Noir which is also dark, rich, sweet, earthy. The notes are Saffron, Rose, Truffle, Vanilla, Patchouli, Oud, Oakmoss.
I bought my bestie the black bottle and she RAVED about it.I bought myself the gold bottle, not knowing there was a difference, and I wasn't as in love as she was. Now I know why. Gonna buy the black bottle unboxed just to have them both and see if my son will like the gold bottle. 🙂

The gold bottle drove my co-workers nut! Had them in a frenzy, they all came out of nowhere saying what is that, I mean it was absolutely hypnotized by the scent, my Creed Adventist didn't even get that kind of reaction... The 2020 in the gold bottle is the way to go
For me, when choosing ONE of these, as a man… there is no question, the Parfum is more masculine by far. They are similar, but the Parfum is the male version of the black.

I guess I'm one of those few people who get out of the Parfum what I don't from the EDP 😂 Which, surprisingly, isn't about strength or longevity, but rather less gardenia in the opening and more sweetness/booziness (to my nose at least!)
Maybe the parfum is little bit more masculine then the EDP, because about the rum,I prefer the parfum but not by much, they're a very gorgeous fragrances,classy and sophisticated

Hi Eva. I think I am in a true minority. I don't know what it is about Black Orchid... It just doesn't like me. I have the original in the black bottle and I went back and sprayed it on my skin after watching your review and it was still a no for me. I am considering trying this one ... perhaps this version will like me back.🙄
Pam Jordan _ Pam FAM! I love black orchid, but you have to spray it on & wait 15-20 minutes for the dry down. This is a perfume I personally can’t spray & go. So try it again & smell after the dry down & it will blow you away.

I don't think they created the parfum because they wanted to improve on the original. More than likely it was created to be more appealing to men so they could widen and reinvigorate sales. I own the new one and have smelled the original. The original is most definitely more feminine
Gotta tell you I like the original but love the "dirty" gold bottle. Earthiness is legit and women need to rock it more. So sick of rose and vanilla type scents(gross). I love scents like Nasomatto Baraonda and By the Fireplace. People need to start embracing funk. Drive down is magical on goldie. Oud wood scents are also ethereal. Keep doing you.
Skip the price and get Beverly Hills Polo Club Champion...DEAD ON with Tom Ford Back Orchid for $12.99 . It's crazy. Just like Blaze smells just like Spice bomb and ignite smells just like polo red extreme.

It probably has that vintage vibe that I sometimes don't mind. I say If you like it, Keep it and wear it. If your daughter is anything like my son, you know sometimes they try to clown us. 😂
