It was there that I met your dad, Freddy. He was the most lovely man and I know he’d be very proud of you. Thanks so very much for making this excellent and historical doc. It took me back to a very special time.
I'm from Toronto and only made it out to Trois Rivers once. Thankfully it was in 1976. It seems like a lifetime time ago now but some things I remember very clearly. I remember the surprise of learning James Hunt was entered. Also Alan Jones , Vittorio Brambilla were entered all three Formula One drivers. Two of which would become world champions. Yes Gilles did win the race but I assure James did not get thrashed. I clearly remember sitting on the edge of my seat almost every lap , almost praying Gilles was still ahead. They both raced hard and clean and Jones was always near by. Gilles knew the course like the back of his hand, taking the pole and the win. But James kept him honest and would make short work of a mistake. They both had a great showing which must be why James told McLaren of their battle, and the rest is history, all a life time ago. After that I became a bigger fan of your dad. Now that you race, you know how hard it is to run lap after lap without a misstep. I also watched your dad a few times at both Mosport and Watkin's Glen. He was one of the greats and is missed by those who seen him run with best in a golden age of F1. Just saying.
