- Malaysia's "Orangutan Diplomacy": Latest Plan to Sell Palm Oil? | Vantage with Palki Sharma
Malaysia plans to start using "Orangutan Diplomacy". Johari Abdul Ghani, Malaysia's Minister of Plantation Industries and Commodities, announced that the country will begin gifting the endangered Orangutans to its biggest palm oil customers. The minister made sure to name China, India and the European Union. He says this will showcase Malaysia's commitment to wildlife conservation. Malaysia has been fighting against new deforestation regulations from the EU. The EU plans to stop importing products grown in newly deforested areas by this December. Malaysia feels this will harm its palm oil industry, so it has raised complaints against the EU at the World Trade Organization. "Orangutan Diplomacy" seems to be Malaysia's Plan B to secure its Palm oil exports.

Is is not animal cruelty. Depriving an animal of its natural habitat. When Jaishankar said Europe think their problem is World's problem but World's problems are not Europe's problem. He was very right.
Of course it is
The one to be given away is the one rescued and in the orangutan conservatory.
This time seems the the world's problem is Europe's problem it seems. If we want to implement protectionism in our best interest, we will do so, just like India.
I watched until the end. Fair view. We will not stop fighting for our economy.
Malaysian palm oil are certified sustainable palm oil. In fact, most of the palm oil plantations existed even before independence, planted by the British. We are now adding value to it.
Despite this, Malaysia still retains 55% of its virgin tropical jungle.
It is a fact that per sq ft, palm oil produced more oil than other vegetable/plant oil, thus more value.
Also palm oil have high nutritional values, can be used in high heat, reused and recycled.
Without palm oil, good luck frying things using olive oil and increase your chance to get cancer.
I am from malaysia. It is really sad that the people of the jungle lost their land to palm oil. Guess what, they isn't enough workers to harvest palm oil.
Bapak penipu. Type-C jadi tauke housing estate yang tebang pokok banyak buat rumah tak berpenghuni. Tibe salahkan orang buat ladang sawit apa. Nampak sangat dengki woi
Mostly they employ cheap labour
Because tamils migrated to cities for jobs after rubber plantations decline, ppl want modern life in plantations, rds ,brick houses, full time piped water and electricity ,shops and a multipurpose hall etc
Bullshit you are from anywhere but malaysia
ignore european hipster "leaders"
just use the palm oil for biofuels to make biogas and biodiesel to repalce the oil/gas used on char , machine and so on
more dangerous because the price of food will jump up, just as the soybean oil converted into biodiesel and the plan is canceled
Actually palm oil industry does not contribute that much to Malaysia's GDP. They could reduce the plantations.
Yeah many plantation were converted to property
They contribute to rich crony here.
Palki makes wrong comparisson, orang utan diplomacy should not be compared with panda of china, it should be compared with elephants of bostwana... bostwana wanted to send 20,000 elephants to germany in a dispute about conservation. Malaysia and Indonesia should send 20,000 orang utan to EU in a dispute about deforestation.
Wowww
So when the animal freely can roam in their own habitat ..these man thoughts that maybe they can just ship this animal somewhere …just to attract people buying their palm oil and at the same time able to expand their deforestation project as they won’t be charge by all the animal conservationists. Don’t think that’s a genius move . More and more animal being displaced . I read somewhere that Borneo is one of the most diverse in term of flora and fauna but yeah seems like money matter more?
Cow diplomacy next....
These cows might send it to Israel..they wanted a red cow so bad just to burn to the ashes for some ridiculous purification reasons. And Millions of indians who see cows as sacred are blindly supporting them and the genocide Israelis have doned. That's humanity 101 lessons for you
Maybe a Birkin bag signed by Rosmah would be a better diplomacy.
India can use cow for diplomacy, he he….
No need.
Already gave to some African countries. They are using it for organic farming and milk and milk products
Many countries, including Malaysia, is already importing beef from India, smarty pants:)
They should do cow diplomacy with Europe so we get high quality steak. Yummy
Don't need, we have our own cows, it's called beef. You don't happened to eat panda or orang utan meat don't you?
Every news related to China..
Can send one to vantara...
Oh no! We already have orangotangs in europe. In Portugal there are a lot, living at expenses of the people's work. In the government, in the presidency, in the parliement. Oh no!
Palki mam we are respecting your views , but what you shared is not truth in Malaysia , we are palm oil planters as well , there are many monkeys varieties but not orang utan , we as a Malaysia always shares our palm oil which ripe , with them before we harvest , it’s a part off their food as well ,it’s a good food fr them ,it’s contain very high vitamins, not as Europe lies ,the news you got is not truth , many Indian as well world populations having it in daily basis , orang utan is in Indonesia Sabah sarawak , it’s well preserved by the NGO s and gov as well . Don’t listen to their lies for their own interest.
Kat Sumatera pun ada orang utan jugak bang.
@@user-ri6gw2oo2fkan dia kata "Indonesia, Sabah & Sarawak"...Sumetra tu di Indo kot...✌️
Shame
Dear presenters you should come to our rehabilitation orang utan in our country that you can open your eyes 😊😊😊
Another ridiculous idea from Malaysia Madani government minister but this time its gone global.
Its always ridiculous now, previous goverment. All are BS!
What ridiculous? You mean to say previous PN goverment which introduced jana wibawa but ended up swindling billion of ringgit is better than madani unity goverment? Fyi, madani government brought in billions of FDI so far. Whereas PN did not generate any FDI at all. So that being the case according to your crooked mind madani government is ridiculous?
walaun jgn jadi penkianat negara sendiri
China has Panda, Malaysia use Orang Utan. So?
Anything to get noticed. Not too many will bother to buy oil palm. Buy coconut oil...!
Yup, India only buys about 10 million metric tonnes of palm oil every year, that's about 7kg per person per year.
@@Libochthat’s only for food industry. Never seen anyone buy palm oil for domestic consumption. And it’s not healthy.
@@hj2711 do you know why food industry uses palm oil? Because palm oil meets the legal requirements of trans fat laws.
In many countries trans fat is banned in industrial food due health reason. Do you know what is trans fat? It is a by product of hydrogenation process? What is hydrogenation? Hydrogenation is used to make less saturated oil last longer and to get the right form. And oils such as corn, soy, rapeseed, cotton, sunflower, peanut are less saturated oil and have to be hydrogenated. India is in the process of making such laws too.
Palm oil and coconut oil don't have to be hydrogenated.
Many countries are using palm oil to dilute content of trans fat in other oils to meet the legal requirements.
@@Liboch you forget main usp that it’s cheap. And it’s not limited to food also used in literally every cosmetics and shampoos.
@@hj2711 the use of palm oil in the industrial food in North America and Europe is not because it's slightly cheaper but because palm oil meets the health laws.
Dumbest diplomacy ever in the history 😂
You are just too d u m b to understand the real meaning.
its malay btw
only india has ministry of cow,no other nation has,
Great Ideal Actually We Have Many Orang Utan In Parliament Today
@@nagawahyudi Indonesian leaders even worse.. tell to your leaders
What kind of monkey business is this? ;p
'Hypocrisy and opportunism...- Ms Palki
Well, welcome to the real world of business.
Hypocrisy and opportunism is alive and well in Homonhon Island of the Philippines.
new palm trees must be grown next to the old one just before it is felled.... no new forest area is to be cleared...palm trees are quite resilient so don't need crop rotation system..
Malaysia still preserve 65% of our forest
Poor animals
😥😥
India can have cows diplomacy
Most of you are unaware that Malaysia across the sea is a different country. Sabah and Sarawak operate differently.
They have different culture and people.
And?
@@user-ri6gw2oo2f ... and they eat grubs and cook live dogs
Fair news, respect from Indonesian viewer
Borneo is the largest 'Orang Utan's' native place.. How could they simply send it to other nation..
Deforestation already reduced their numbers...
Totally insane diplomacy
They sent the one rescued in the conservatory not form the wild. You should not comment on the matter you have no knowledge of
It is actually a pretty genius plan. We can sell palm oil at the same time, repopulate the orangutans by having other countries raise them, just like the pandas which are record-number babies in Malaysia.
In this lady's eyes, Europe will have to be in penance for the rest of its existence. Because of what we did in the past, we are trying to correct it now! Any step that Europe takes in any direction will be a problem for this lady. Anyway...
You Should Penance For The Rest Of Your Existence
Correct It By Lectures Us On How To Deal With Our Problem
Japan Only Invade My Country For Two Year But They Invest More In My Country While Portugal 83 Year , Dutch 183 Year , UK 115 Year Clean They Hand Completely And Dare To Lectures Us
While China Never Invade Us Now Become Our Bigger Investor
Why not try correcting it by returning the stolen goods and money you all stole from us. It's hypocrisy to think that you can just wriggle your way out by saying sorry and then forcing other countries to jeopardise. Their economic growth for all the harm to the planet you caused.
3:49 British aren't in the EU, and there are 27 other members besides the Netherlands😅😅😅 EDIT Minority of EU countries (10/27) have had any kind of colony, even if you count colonial trade posts as official colonies.
3:45 she said europeans colonised not EU colonised, here u trying mean what Queen lickers r so innocent people
UK was in the EU until Brexit
This lady is so busy talking about other countries to the extend she do not notice problems in her own country ...
You're schizophrenia 🐸 😂
You are so busy talking about her talking about other countries that you ont have any logical opinion in a youtube comment except the nonsense you wrote abve
Yes because she is the only lady person who bravely takes on world with dignity whether it's right or wrong.. Bcoz bharat is not same.. It's new bharat in our Respected P.M modi leadership..
@@thegem597 The real nonsense is you , why don't you and lady in the video focus on something more substantial about your own country rather than meddling on other nations issues just because want to show the world that you are are a worthy reporter. Let me give you some examples what you can get busy on ; 1) cleanliness 2) safety of female in the country 3 ) poverty . At least the country mentioned do not have people defecate /poo in public areas, dont have female gang raped in public buses ,dont have children running on the street begging for food/money rather than to be at school .
did u see the 253 India an a German charter flight to Jamaica.
It's call TATAKELOLA PLANTA
Orang Utan looks like Modi but better.
Actually Orang looks smart but lot smarter than Imran khan the womanizer. He has tasted every PTI woman leader…😂
i want an orang utan.
Our forest more bigger than yours
Hello Palki , you always offer judgements but not reason, please change so Indians don't get substandard news, thanks
Malaysia should grow olives instead
Olives? do you think olives would fit in tropical countries 😂😂
Even if it fits the climate, Malaysia has to enlarge its olive plantation by about 700% to get the same amount of oil. No more orang utan will be left.
Yeah. Since they’re the neo arabs 😂😂😂
Yes what a good idea /s
Malaysia climate can grow many type according to place
As I read this country is a second appartied nation after South Africa, they divide so called non Malay and so Malay in different sections, schools are sregated, even test marks are given bonus and recently their education is below then Vietnam
wrong, try again.
Very True
Wrong where did you get this misinformed info. Go meet a real Malaysian and he'll tell you the real story.
There's no such thing. In fact, the Malays wanted for everyone to be under one national school but the Chinese and Indians insist to have vernacular schools. So, Malaysian government let them have it, out of consideration.
hahaha ...second ehh ? u mean, Israel is not even in top 5, if not the first ? if so, whatever you read was just western bull$##t stuff. sorry, read more.
Orang utan look like Indians, so Malaysia belong to Indians?
Orang utans are more intelligent than you.
Before 200 years there was not environmental concern so of this biased didi keep talking about the 200 years ago then u can see the changes in temperature happening right now and if it’s high concern to think abt this and yes like Mr Jay Shankar talk abt the Eu Hiprocsy then we can support it because of its fact but this biased didi keeps on talking abt 200 years ago
Before 1988 Europe, Especially UK Have No Concern About Palm Oil Industry They Only Concern After Dawn Raid Attack In London Stock Exchange Market Where Malaysia Take Back All Asset Belong To Malaysia 100% From UK Company
Yeah...true...but if they are so concerned about environment now then why not help the country ,which they plundered and ravaged by the way, financially so that they don't have to do plantations...just complaining won't do anything other than feeding their ego. Accept the damages they did, take accountability and pay up all the money...but yeah those cowards don't have the guts to do that😊
The most biased reporting network!
Everything against you is biased now huh.. go watch the nonbiased cnn and bbc then lol
IF people understood the health dangers of palm oil in food, the orangutans would not be endangered by the destruction of their habitat.
Europeans exploited Malaysian and Indonesian land for palm oil but NOT to the extent that it destroyed entire habitats; that is down to the natives, who, by the way, were at a stone age level of culture before they were exploited. This is a FACT that modern empire-bashers conveniently forget.
Dude, can you tell what is the danger of palm oil?
Why palm oil is not banned if it is dangerous?
Why many countries especially in North America and Europe ban trans fat but not palm oil? Trans fat is present in hydrogenated soy, corn, peanut, rapeseed, sunflower etc but not in palm and coconut oils as palm and coconut oils don't need hydrogenation.
That's why many countries especially in North America and Europe are using palm oil to dilute their oils to meet the health legal parameters.
What is the health dangers of palm oil in food?
If it is dangerous why no countries has banned it?
Why many countries especially in North America and Europe ban trans fat?
Many food industries in those countries are now using palm oil to replace or dilute other oils such as soy, rapeseed, cotton, corn etc, to meet the parameter of the health regulations.
haha .. white propaganda ! your era had gone
We need rainforests not palm oil plantations , those 🦧deserve their right to exist in nature not being gawped at in a noisy unnatural stressful zoo
Palm oil is the most unhealthy oil. Boycott it. Use mustard oil or ghee only.
India should participate.. Take in some Orangutans and gift them our tigers. Lets unite Asia. Malaysia should not send the Orangutans to the Europeans as they are zre not suited there. It is better to do it among BRICS+ nations.
Just dont involve any animal
Malaysia should stop exporting palm oil to Europe,
But then they have only 57 countries to gift them.
